We travelled from Edmonton to Victoria and had prepaid for 2 rooms through hotels.com. We arrived at the hotel after midnight and were told by the front desk representative (Raymond) that they only check people in until midnight. I explained that no where in our reservation did it say anything about that. Raymond then started laughing at us and said that the rooms were still available but we would now have to pay an additional $250 per room. (We had already paid $180 per room when we booked them). I told him that is unacceptable and we just had a long trip and that it was not right for him to be throwing us out or demanding more money. He said it is not his problem. At no time did he even look us up on his computer. I have never in my life experienced such a rude front desk representative. We ended up leaving and finding another hotel nearby that was much more accommodating and seemed to actually care about their guests. Once we returned home I contacted hotels.com for a refund. We did end up getting a refund but not before Raymond lied to the hotels.com representative twice!!!! First he told them we refused to provide a credit card for the room deposit (which we were never even asked for!!) and then the second time he told them that they had given away our rooms...which is funny since he told us they were still available but at the further $250 per room charge. I will never book a Days Inn hotel ever again. Worst customer service I have ever received and was a hassle to get a refund from since their staff kept making up stories. Go somewhere else!!!

We're really sorry that you had this negative experience trying to check in after midnight. Although reservations are typically only guaranteed until midnight, we do understand that some travellers will arrive late due to flight schedules and other circumstances. As long as we know in advance, we do allow guests to check in past midnight and there is no additional penalty for doing so. Upon learning about this incident, Raymond, our Front Office Manager, contacted Hotels.com to arrange a full refund for you. He was not the individual that you encountered after midnight. We have communicated with the team member involved that this is not an appropriate way to handle late night arrivals. We are truly sorry for this experience. Please feel free to contact us directly and we'll do our best to make it right.

We truly enjoyed our weekend in Victoria, thanks to the Days Inn on the Gorge. We asked for and received an upgraded room, so we were able to really enjoy the room amenities. The A/C worked perfectly (and needed due to a record breaking heatwave!) and the bed and sheets were heavenly. Free parking was also a bonus as parking in Victoria is very expensive. Thanks again Days Inn!

Staying at the Days Inn Uptown does put you a short distance away from the Inner Harbour, but the short drive is well worth it. We had a wonderful night's rest, in a well appointed room. Everything from the recently updated room, to the kitchenette, and especially the comfortable beds, made this stay really nice. We usually stay here when in the Victoria area, as this location is nice and central to everything we need. We will be staying here again soon.

Staff were great. Friendly and helpful. Overall the room was a little tired and dated, but clean. A bit of an issue with the shower water temperature, which I let staff know. I would stay again. Great location.
