We had such a nice stay here! We loved the cosy room, delicious food and the Christmas decor. The garden looked wonderfully festive! The location is also perfect, with easy access to Witty’s beach. Heather and Sandy are very thoughtful and friendly hosts. Would highly recommend.

Wits End Retreat in Metchosin, Victoria British Columbia is a gem of a B &B. We stayed in that magical place from September 28 to October 1, 2023. The room is so spacious and welcoming, with a nice gas fireplace. Bed is very comfortable and bathroom floor is heated. The view looks out on the most beautiful of English gardens. Heather and Sandy Chown do everything possible to make their guests feel like family. Their breakfasts are divine, especially Sandy's homemade French toast. Their 3 Golden Retrievers are fun to watch frolicking in the beautiful yard. We have stayed at many B&Bs over the years, but Wits End Retreat is the best one yet. Don't miss it! What a lovely review. Thank you so very much. I hope the two of you enjoyed your train trip. Tex, remember do not pack so many clothes. They say we women overpack lol. Hope you got a chance to talk to your neighbour. Would love to know the outcome. Please come back and see us again. Our American friends all always welcomed here. All the best Heather and Sandy

This was a return trip to Wits End for me and my family, and what a treat it always is. The room is a relaxing vibe with the corner fireplace and cozy furniture, always welcoming our family members to stay and visit just a little bit longer! The dogs bring us our comfort and reminder of home, and the breakfast is always outstanding. I can’t wait to visit again!

Tahlia, it is always a pleasure to have you and Cedar stay with us. She can now enjoy the tree house and the beach. I hope one day that we get to meet your husband. It is so great to see you bond with your sister. We are quite fond of her. I hope you come back to see us again. All the best, Heather and Sandy

That’s it! Exceptional at everything… everywhere. You name it, they’ve covered it. We keep returning to Wit’s End because we love it and the hosts so much. But honestly, I don’t think anyone could do better. And I’m not interested in finding out. This time my granddaughter was almost 2 and absolutely loved the puppies, the treehouse and of course, the food! Can’t wait to go back before I even leave. ❤️❤️❤️

Dawn what can I say about you. It has always been a pleasure to have you and yours here. You have such a warm heart and such a gift to make those that you meet feel great. We would love to to see Cory come back. I would make sure that he has red licorice in the room. You make it so easy to look after you and yours. See you again, Heather and Sandy

This was perhaps our fifth? sixth? time to stay at this peaceful, rejuvenating B&B. This time we were there for 3 nights. The room is comfortably large enough to have a queen bed, sitting area with sofa and chair, table and chairs with a view of the spectacular gardens, and yet warm and cozy. We enjoy having our sumptuous 2 course breakfasts on the deck, listening to the birds sing, taking in the fragrance of the fruit trees and various flowers. I don't know what Heather does to her hydrangeas, but they are world class! Because of the layout, you cannot hear anything from the house and they can't hear you. The bathroom is a glory in itself, with a clawfoot tub, enormous walk-in shower (rain shower and regular), and heated flooring. Then there are the three well-trained golden retrievers who are a bonus. It's just steps from Witty's Beach. We value the beauty and calming effect of the place so much, we've gifted stays there to our children and adult grandchildren. Our entire family loves it.

Mary what a lovely surprise to see a review from you. We have always enjoyed your visit with your husband Bill. You are extremely easy to look after and I know we will see you again. I am very pleased that you gifted your family members a stay with us. Because of that I got to meet my Auggie. What a special young man. So loved having him here as well as Brandon and Katie. Hope to see you all again in the future. Best, Heather and Sandy

Wits End is the perfect place either to relax and get away or to focus without distraction. Heather and Sandy have mastered how to host a B&B. Simply plug into the experience and enjoy! The room has lots of space, and there's a stove to sit by when having a quiet read in the evening. The heated bathroom floor is a nice touch on cool mornings. The breakfasts (and treats) are simply stellar and reason enough to stay here. Be sure to get outside and enjoy the gardens and play with the dogs. Not often that the hosts' pets add to the experience, but here they do! Also be sure to walk to the nearby trails. Easy walks and a nice way to stretch your legs after great breakfast! Thank you Heather and Sandy!

Brian what a surprise when I saw that the review was from you, my IT guy, instead of Tammy. I must say we laughed a lot even though sometimes it was at your expense lol. You did say Tammy and I were cut from the same cloth. We hope you come back cause the Goldens are missing you guys and I have so many more techie questions. Glad you enjoyed the food so much. Thanks, Heather and Sandy

We arrived tired from a hike along the beach from Colwood. We walked through an amazing garden and were given a royal welcome by a friendly host and his three golden retreivers. The room was lovely and the treats awaiting us were both unexpected and very welcome. One of us got the "big" bed, while the other got the day bed. Both were comfortable. Morning tea and coffee in the garden, followed by an excellent breakfast, gave us the strength to walk out the next day, but we will be back! This is a place for relaxing and enjoying the garden. It would even be nice in the rain, as the room has comfortable chairs and great views of the garden.

2nd stay. Just as great as the first time. Wonderful hosts, super breakfast and awesome garden. Also you get to play ball with the dogs if you wish. Additionally, there is access to the public beach. Be sure to reserve a table at Wild Mountain when you make your reservation here.

If you would love to have a very peaceful experience in a beautiful location, Wit’s End Retreat is the place to visit. Welcoming hospitality from Heather, Sandy and their three retrievers . The cottage has everything you need, comfy bed, huge shower and amazing breakfasts provided by a great chef and his assistant, who actually makes unbelievably delicious poached peaches in her special sauce! Oh and lovely little treats in the fridge!! We celebrated our wedding anniversary there and the setting could not have been more idyllic with fantastic gardens and only a five minute walk to Witty beach. Thank you so much Heather and Sandy, we hope to return. The Deakins. Ladner. B.C.

Sandy and I have been lucky enough to meet so many great people over the past few years. We did not know how lucky we were to meet you and Rod, your husband of fifty one years. You made us laugh a lot. You played with our Goldens and liked them even our little Frankie. That is ALWAYS a plus to Sandy and myself. We could tell that after fifty one years of marriage the magic was still in your eyes. It made my heart melt. Your pictures that you put on our website are great. I hope one day you come back and visit us. We would be so happy to sit in our orchard and have a glass of wine with you. We wish you all the best, Heather and Sandy

This was my third time at Wit's End and I plan to come back every year for my summer bike trip. Heather and Sandy are wonderful hosts who pay attention to every detail to make your stay comfortable. The suite is spacious, the bed is super comfortable and the breakfasts scrumptious. Close to the Galloping Goose Trail and even closer to a gorgeous beach and hiking trails. This is my happy place to relax and unwind. Can't wait to stay here again!

Doris, once again you have given us a lovely review. I hope when you come back next year that we will have another Golden. As I said her name will be Billie. She will bug you just like Frankie does. I hope you spend your whole time here. Maybe go to Sooke and visit Wild Mountain Resort. Their food is outstanding. All the best, Heather and Sandy
