My wife and I have stayed at many B&Bs, mostly in North America and the UK, and this is one near the very top of the list, if not the top. Immaculately clean. The breakfasts were elegant but down to earth and delicious. The warmth and professionalism with which Sylvia handled our interactions was deeply appreciated. All of this in a setting that was quiet and stunningly beautiful, right next to grounds of the Government House, an expansive garden and grounds with panoramic views of the ocean and mountains. Needless to say, we hope to go back, and we will tell our friends about this place! Wonderful!
We recently spent 3 weeks touring the west of Canada and the USA and this was our favourite B&B / hotel from the whole trip. Stayed in a Queen room (not a suite) which was spacious and had sizeable en-suite bathroom with shower and sunken bath. On ground floor and we saw many deer just outside our window. Breakfasts freshly cooked and wonderful. Fairholme Manor is located in a lovely suburb of Victoria about a 10 minute or 30 minute walk from downtown Victoria, close to Government House and Gardens and Craigdarroch Castle and also close to the Oak Bay area which offers many eating and shopping options. We were not captivated by downtown Victoria but loved the area Fairholme Manor is in and it's close proximity to some lovely bays and beaches (we saw sea otters and seals). Our stay at Fairholme Manor really made our trip to Victoria special. Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you again Sylvia and Ross for letting us stay in your lovely home.…
We stayed three nights in the lovely Rose Garden suite. Very spacious, it included a second bedroom, kitchen and bath as well as a large deck overlooking the garden. Located in a historic neighborhood, perfect for walks. Close by is Cook Street with restaurants and shops...downtown five minutes away. Sylvia and Ross are gracious hosts, welcoming as is their staff. Breakfasts were different every morning, delicious and healthy. You will really enjoy the Fairholme and it's lovely gardens.
We spent 3 nights (Aug. 16,17,18) in the Penthouse Suite. Thankfully the heatwave had dissipated and we were very comfortable (there is no A/C). Super comfortable king bed. Lots of space in the suite … in fact it is like a one bedroom apartment … cute kitchen with fridge, stove, sink and small table and chairs. The suite is not done up in a busy Victorian decor … rather just spacious, clean and comfortable. I just felt a wee bit bad for the people downstairs as the hallway floor squeaked rather loudly when/if you get up in the night … nothing to be done about it but to walk softly. But … maybe it’s not as bad as it seemed. Loved the quiet of the neighbourhood at night. Enjoyed the deer, rabbits and hummingbirds on the property. Enjoyed looking out in the morning to see all the volunteers arriving to tend to the plant nursery of the Government House next door … a happy, cheery bunch. Breakfast was a special treat each morning. We sat in the dining room two mornings and on the veranda another. The proprietors are both very nice people … they’ve been at it for 20 years and they most certainly know what they’re doing. I am very glad to have chosen Fairholm Manor and would most definitely stay again. We enjoyed dinners at “The Collective Wine Bar and Kitchen” in Cook Street Village and also “Cafe Brio” on Fort Street.…
We had a great stay at the Fairholme Manor Inn. We stayed in the penthouse suite which is a nice size with a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living room and sitting area. Wonderful views from the different directions. You can see the mountains and water to the one direction and Government House park to the other. The breakfasts are very tasty, nicely prepared and presented and will certainly leave you full. We'd certainly stay here again.
Just returned from a 2 night stay at Fairholme Manor. What a wonderful spot! A very elegant century home that has been refurbished by Sylvia and her husband Ross. There are 6 rooms spread over 2 levels. The home is in an upscale residential area of Victoria, about a 5 minute drive from the downtown waterfront area. We stayed in the Olympic Grand Suite. Second floor with a nice comfortable King bed. The room size is large. Small TV and fridge in the room. Breakfast was fabulous. Sylvia is amazing! Home baked breads, yogurt parfait, eggs, coffee, juice. Highly recommended as a terrific Bed and Breakfast.
People make the place and truly hosts were amazing, welcoming, understanding and kind. Service was great! Bedroom was very clean (they even wash and iron all sheets in house) and follow all Covid protocols. Breakfast was one of the best that we ever had and inspired us to buy recipe book. We were also given tips about the area and everything recommended was excellent. Amazing experience. Thank you!!!
Loved this beautiful place with its perfectly maintained grounds and look forward to coming back. The owner/hosts Sylvia and Ross and staff are most gracious, helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were creative and delicious.. the rose garnishes ( from the garden) on the plates were a lovely touch. Home baking, fresh fruit and choices of meat or fish along with the artfully plated savoury dishes were most generous. Our suite was immaculate, beautifully appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The location is quiet, yet not too far from town and the beautiful public gardens next door are a lovely place for a walk. We look forward to a return visit.
Me and my lady spent an exquisite week at the Fairholme Manor, and thoroughly enjoyed the spacious "fairholme grande" suite, with lofty ceilings and luxury decorations. The jetted bath tub is a gem, and the fireplace is cozy. They always leave you a 3 hr firelog, chocolates by the bed, coffee, tea, hot chocolate for sipping. The pinnacle of the hotel is the breakfast. The hosts give an excellent venue to casually meet the other patrons, or dine on your own. They are flexible on eating time, and provide the most delectable meals. Even as you leave stuffed they sneak scones and muffins in your pockets for your day. Silvia and Ross, it was worth every moment at the Fairholme. Thank you.
We spent two nights at the Fairholme Manor and could have easily stayed longer! Ross and Sylvia make you very welcome. In terms of location, it's about a 2k walk into Victoria but is pleasant and a cab back is about 15 (CAD) We were in the Tuscan suite which was like a mini apartment with separate living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. The whole place has a very home from home feeling and we were really comfortable. The breakfast is made by Sylvia and comes highly recommended. If you want somewhere that isn't a chain and you want to be looked after, visit the Fairholme
