Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Parkside Hotel & Spa is celebrated for its exceptional value and strategic location, with guests appreciating its proximity to downtown Victoria's key attractions and dining options. The friendly and attentive service contributes to a welcoming atmosphere that is complemented by a cozy fireplace and koi pond. While the comprehensive amenities, including a large pool and pet-friendly accommodations, receive high marks, some visitors suggest that the absence of AC could lead to street noise when windows are opened. Nonetheless, the hotel's cleanliness and well-appointed rooms with kitchens are frequently commended.

We enjoy staying at the Parkside and take advantage of their pool and kitchen facilities in their suites. This is our go to location in Victoria and you should book well in advance of your travels as this is a popular location and is often fully booked. It is located within short walking distances of all the key Downtown Victoria attractions. The use of the complimentary bikes was greatly appreciated. When travelling with friends, the 2 bedroom suite is a good option to reduce your travel expenses and have a quality place to stay.

We stayed here for three days at the end of August and found the hotel to be okay. I'm sure in pre-COVID times it had a lot more life in it but with the hotel shuttering many of its rooms it seemed a little lifeless.

They do have some wonderfully quirky things you can do such as book their entire cinema for your family. That booking comes with a bag of popcorn per person two sodas per person. If you fancy having a cinema to yourself, albeit a smallish one, then be sure to try it out.

The location of the hotel is really close to the town center so you won't have far to walk to get to the shops or harbor.

If you read the managers blog on their website it's not up to date so ignore some of it.

My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids, 4 & 2 years old) had such a great stay at the Parkside recently. The lobby, as mentioned by so many other reviews, is stunning both for adults and for children. The staff were always friendly and accommodating. We booked a deluxe 1 bedroom and it was the perfect size for our family. The kitchen was well equipped although we brought our own cutting board & knife. We were nervous about the pool availability, however we had no issues getting spots other than our day of arrival. Our friend who has a locals punch pass to the pool tried to book with us but they told her they were only allowing hotel guests to book that day as the hotel was max capacity - which, as paying hotel guests, we appreciated the hotel making sure their guests had priority.

My feedback to the hotel is to upgrade the TVs in the rooms. They are not smart TVs and there are no movies available beyond what is available on the very basic cable provided. Our kids don't use tablets and after putting them to bed my husband and I would have appreciated being able to watch Netflix or similar. We brought our Amazon fire stick but due to position the TVs are mounted to the wall, we weren't able to plug it in. An extension cord would help with that.

The hotel location is very central and within walking distance of most attractions in downtown Victoria. We ended up driving a fair bit since our kids are young and take forever to walk. $17/night parking is a bit steep.

Overall, we had such a great stay at the Parkside. In fact, after just one night there (out of 3) we called to inquire about adding a 4th night (sadly they were fully boked) and booked ourselves for a weekend in December! So, see you in a few weeks, Parkside!

My two kids (15 and 12) spent the May long weekend at the Parkside for our Island Staycation. Check in was easy. The lobby is spacious with koi fish, coffee shop attached, and free bike rentals (adult sized only), and electric scooter rentals.

Our deluxe 1 bdrm room was a corner unit on the 2nd floor and it was a really nice size with a bonus room attached with another hideabed and tv.

Kitchen was nicely equipped although could have done with more plates (only a set of 2 big / 2 small / 2 bowls, but wasn't a big deal. Dishwasher was a bonus.

Bedroom was a good size with a really comfy bed. Bathroom has heated floors. We had a nice view of St Ann's Academy.

Room had a washer/dryer combo (bring your laundry soap)

Close walking distance to downtown core (2 minute walk) with restaurants and attractions, as well the ocean. Beacon Hill Park is minutes away by bike where you can see Peacocks and baby goats.

The staff was always very friendly.

Since we are in a pandemic, we had to book pool and gym in advance (the day before). Never was a problem getting the pool. 12 spots available until 10:30pm I believe, in one hour increments.

Gym was really nicely equipped and used it a couple of times. Max 3 people.

Parking lot is very clean, secured, heated, and cost $17 nt.

There is also a theatre you can rent for two hours for $60 including pop/popcorn. You can rent a BBQ for your deck. You can buy a smores pkg. Lots of fun activities available for the family.

6 thumbs up from us three. Thank you Parkside, we will be back!

My wife and I were looking for an overnight getaway and thought we would try the Parkside. We had tried the spa before (which was amazing) so we thought it would be nice to give the hotel a try first. We were absolutely amazed at the quality and style of this hotel. The rooms were immaculate and incredible well equipped. Our suite has a small kitchenette that even included a European style washer/dryer that was hidden and tucked away in the lower cabinets. Our room had a wonder little deck that overlooked the court yard which was fantastic for fresh air and enjoying a glass of wine.

While the hotel thought of everything including ear plugs, which were completely not necessary as it was completely silent in our room, we were also impressed by the beds. Hands down the most comfortable bed I think I've even experienced in the hotel. My wife was also a huge fan of the pillow to the point where she removed the cover to try and see what brand they were.

An amazing stay with very nice staff and services. We highly recommend!!!

The Parkside is a great choice if you are looking for a great location for walking around the area. The kitchen amenities are very handy. Nice lobby area and staff are friendly and helpful. Being in the downtown area, the hotel providing earplugs is a nice touch. We have stayed here many times and will continue as long as it's affordable. The room (kitchen, living room and bedroom area) is comfortable with a pull out bed if needed. We normally stay in fall and spring. Not sure if there is air conditioning, but fans were provided.

Dear Lisa P, Thank you for making The Parkside Hotel & Spa your chosen accommodation in Victoria, Team Parkside is very thankful for your continued support and excellent TripAdvisor review. It was great to read that you enjoy all aspects of our hotel, including our great location and friendly staff. I know your review will be helpful for others considering a stay with us! As a sustainable & environmentally friendly hotel, we do not offer air conditioning. We are very fortunate in Victoria to have Canada's mildest weather, however, all of our suites are equipped with tower fans, blackout blinds & curtains, balconies, and windows that promote air flow to assist with reducing heat on those particularly warm summer days. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at ashley.priest@parksidevictoria.com if I can assist with planning your next stay. Kind Regards, Ashley Priest Guest Services Manager

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in October as a getaway. The hotel is lovely and the staff members are very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite which was the perfect size for us. Great living space and we quite enjoyed the fireplace with the cooler evenings. The mini-kitchen was also nice for breakfast supplies and for refrigerating leftovers from restaurants. The location is excellent just a block and a half or so behind the Empress. They have very strict COVID control for sign-up for pool times (which we used twice) and the fitness centre (which looked good but we didn't use it).
We ended up renting a car because the airport shuttles weren't operating due to COVID so to take a taxi would have almost cost as much as the 4-day car rental. Underground parking was spacious (but the hotel was not full) and the cost reasonable at $17 per night. Wifi was very fast.
The only negative was that we heard the group next door quite a bit one evening and the following morning but it really didn't bother us. We had a unit with interconnecting doors. I'm not sure if they have them but I would advise requesting a room without an interconnecting door if you are noise sensitive.
All in all, a wonderful stay.

Clean, modern, luxury items - bathrobes, soaps, shampoos, etc. We had a two bedroom suite. It had a full stove, fridge, dishwasher, all items for kitchen use. Overall, a lovely place! Definitely would go back again!

Room was huge with great views of the city, clean and well stocked but with no robes. Called a day before to book the pool, when in the pool there were kids coughing and spitting while swimming and the parents just let it happen. There were guests also not wearing masks from the pool to the lobby/elevator. We were staying on the 6th floor and there was a line up for the elevator, multiple guests budged in front of us as they wanted to go up with us, we weren’t comfortable getting in an elevator with them so instead of fighting just let them go ahead of us.

Dear auntybez, Thank you for your question. Yes, all of our suites have a washer / dryer unit for self service laundry. Complimentary laundry detergent is available at our front desk, or can be delivered to your suite 24 hours a day. Alternatively, there is a local laundromat within a 15 minute walk, or we can arrange for same day professional laundry/dry cleaning services at additional cost.
