Disappointing would be the kindest description for our stay at Parkside. Hair on the bed, a dirty patio, a fridge that doesn’t work properly., vending machine out of “vending products “ for a days..on a holiday weekend! The best asset was its location to the sites we wish to see. Parkside..service is more than, Good morning and have a pleasant day! Pleasant nights in a clean facility is also good!!!

An extremely well presented hotel which felt very welcoming from the moment you stepped through the front door. Staff were so helpful and gave the impression that they really loved working there. Excellent location for city centre and connecting BC transit services.

The positives about the hotel: * we had a very spacious 2 bedroom suite for our family, great to have washing machine, kitchen facilities etc * all staff very friendly and helpful at front desk * easy 5 minute walk to the harbour Why we didn’t give it 5: Noisy at around 6am due to building next door - hospital? Garbage trucks making a very loud noise every day Windows had to be open due to no air conditioning which didn’t help with noise outside and neither did it make the room cool enough in a hot few days. No bathroom door - toilet, bath and sink all pretty much part of the bedroom….. I don’t understand why no door?!

I can't fault the amenities but I had a terrible experience here on check-in. We had a suite on the second floor, I asked where the stairs were, the receptionist told me there were no stairs that went up, they only came down! I explained i couldn't use lifts she told me there wasn't another way... so with my partner - I took a deep breath and tried only the ground floor to second, big very smart lift, doors close, we press second - nothing happens try to open doors, nothing happens. Im hysterical by now saved by people outside pressing the button. So the receptionist had not told us nor me personally once she knew of my claustrophobia that we had to use our room card to activate the elevator. (In fact she hadn't told the previous clients either and they too got stuck) A very very kind and understanding employee with experience of such fears took us up to the second floor in the staff lift which saved the day for me. Also strangely my partner recounted this experience to the staff on the middle of our stay enquiry into how everything was going - we heard nothing !!! i have travelled a lot and i have never found a hotel with no access to stairs for guests except in an emergency. There were doors from the first and mezzanine floors on to fire exit stair that were permanently locked.

We stayed here on two separate occasions in July 2022 and were delighted with the spacious comfortable suites that we stayed in. They were superbly equipped (fridge/freezer/dishwasher and washer-drier/excellent coffee maker etc) with little touches including lovely toiletries, dishwasher tabs and washing up liquid. Staff were genial and efficient and the lobby area set up to create a relaxed vibe. The swimming pool is enormous for a hotel with adult only sessions each day - great idea! The setting is quiet yet only a five minute walk to the harbour and museum. Thoroughly recommend.

We had an enjoyablbe 3 night stay in a spacious 2 bedroom suite. The kitchen is well equipped and the furniture and beds comfortable. Check In was efficient. The hotel has a lovely lobby with a koi fishpond, although there is no dining service at the hotel.there is a Fantastico coffee shop that can be accessed through the lobby. We were pleased with this good value hotel for the most part but we had issue with a number of annoyances. The traffic street noise from our room was LOUD, as we were adjacent to a main intersection, sleeping without earplugs was impossible for me. The master suite had no door to the bathroom , other than the obvious lack of privacy was the issue of waking up your partner when turning on the bathroom light. Our room was spotless but due to Covid no other housekeeping was available, which meant guests placed their garbage out in the hotel hallways which is substantial with kitchen unit rooms. The garbage was not removed in a timely fashion , 10 hours plus at times. We did complain to the front desk as the neighbouring suite's sushi garbage was gagging. Inspite of the negative comments this is a good hotel and I would choose it again with a specification for a quieter room away from the traffic.

Excellent and very generous room, essentially a one-bedroom apartment/suite with more amenities than we were able to take advantage of. The combined washer/drier was handy to launder our biking cloths, though instructions to use the device would have been helpful. Good location within 5-15 min walk to a range of great restaurants, Victoria's inner harbour and the parliament building.

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of a 12 night trip to Western Canada. We were upgraded to the luxury one bedroom suite which was huge with two bathrooms - one a shower room/sink, the other a bath/sink directly off the bedroom. The fully equipped kitchen area was large but as we were on holiday not fully used! Contact with staff was limited after an efficient check in as we only had minimal room service and as there is no restaurant/bar there are no serving staff. The desk staff did order us taxis to get to the ferry for Salt Spring Island and the airport, and both arrived well in time. Although we were aware beforehand that there was no restaurant the online information about the food options, including availability of craft ales at least indicated there was some food and drink at the hotel. However, the food and drink mentioned is linked to the onsite cafe, which shuts at different times on different days, but always sometime during the afternoon. When we arrived in the afternoon hoping to grab some food they had stopped serving. No night time drink in the excellent glass atrium with the fish and plants. The hotel is very clean and environmentally friendly, with plenty of eating/drinking options nearby. Unfortunately we did not get the opportunity to use the pool/spa or rooftop patio.

We stayed here for two nights. Very helpful and welcoming staff. Lots of parking in the underground car park but at $17 a night I thought was a bit steep. The location is perfect, two blocks from the waterfront and a short walk through the convent gardens to access Beacon Hill Gardens, which are fabulous. We had a two roomed apartment with an amazing kitchen stocked with every utensil you could need if you wanted to cook. Very handy for making breakfast and snacks. The rooftop garden was lovely on a sunny day as our balcony fell in shadow. We used the complimentary bikes one day which was an added bonus. Can’t comment on housekeeping as we didn’t use it, nor the pool and spa. Recommend this hotel.
