Thank you for your comments; we’re glad you enjoyed your stay! I’d like to add to your room tip: the people in shared rooms may be quieter, out of respect for their roommates. But in general, if you’re looking for a quiet night (in a private room or a shared room), go for a room on one of the upper...

Stayed here with the BF for 2 nights. First up, Tim ( I think) was very helpful but I think he gave us a more expensive room than what we asked for (and we paid for it). As with the rest of the reviews, the room was tiny - and we were given a mid-size! The room could definitely be...

Thank you for staying with us. I asked Tim about the room upgrade, and he said your room was upgrade at no extra charge. The price you paid was the price of the original room you booked, not the price of the upgraded room. Sorry for any confusion. We’re glad you appreciated the cleanliness of the building. We have a...

Super small room. Couldn't even walk around bed. Only 1 X 0.5m of free floor space. Wasn't possible to have two people in the room at the same time. Everything else was great though

Thanks for reviewing us on TripAdvisor. We're sorry you found your room to be too small. Some of our rooms are very small, it's true, which is why we put detailed information (including photos, floor plans and more) about each room on our website. Like you say, please check the size of the room before booking it. And if, when...

I stayed in a 6-bed female dorm for a week. A week was a bit too long, but I managed. The rooms are SUPERtiny, so make sure you don't bring a lot of luggage. The bathrooms are private, which is good, and kept clean at all times. I stayed in a room facing Blanshard St., which got quite noisy as...

Thank you for your review! We're glad you enjoyed your stay. Some of our rooms are very small, it's true, but we made them small on purpose to keep prices as low as possible. You can get a private room at Ocean Island for the same price as a dorm bed at some hostels, and it usually costs only a...

Felt like I was staying in a club where the band plays every night, but stops sharp at 12 midnight. Very comfortable elegance of a 1900's building with neat radiator heating. It has that European feel, if your looking for that special something (ie. Its just a bit off), you might not find it anywhere else. If you hate sterile...

We stayed in a couple of hostels on the island and were quite used to only a few people staying at a time. The Ocean Island, however, was quite packed and therefore cooking/eating in the comon area/kitchen wasa torture. This area is too small for the amount of people staying. The rooms were ok but a little small. The nights...

Thank you for reviewing us on TripAdvisor! We're glad you found our staff to be friendly and helpful. We regret that you found Ocean Island to be noisy and cramped. We are a large building in an urban area. The guest kitchen has 3 sinks, 3 microwaves, 2 ovens and 3 ranges, and the dining area has seating for 50...

Good value, though the rooms are like closets! I sprung a bit extra for a room with a window, not wanting to actually sleep in a closet. Was impressed with the decor and liked the feel of the other guests/travellers. Didn't hang out downstairs too much but liked the look of it! Would make a point of grabbing a bite...

Ocean Island has plenty of possibilities to suit exactly what you want! I did work for accommodation and realized how often everything gets cleaned which is quite important for me. Everything gets cleaned everyday and deep cleans happen frequently. Within the hostel is a bar and restaurant where every night a different special is written down on the board. For...
