Nestled in the heart of the city, the Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour is lauded for its strategic location, granting visitors convenient proximity to downtown attractions, Beacon Hill Park, and the scenic harbor, although there have been mentions of construction-related disturbances. Guests commend the hotel's cleanliness and the exceptional service provided by the staff, but opinions are mixed regarding the value, with some feeling the costs don't match the experience.
While the amenities, including a pristine pool, are generally appreciated, the atmosphere and decor seem to leave some guests wanting more, with calls for modernization and revitalization.

This visit was a bit different since I couldn't enjoy the various amenities but the Marriott didn't disappoint. The front desk staff were very helpful at check-in. The room (#706) was very clean, and when asked to provide cleaning supplies (I have to clean due to quarantine) they promptly supplied everything needed to keep the room liveable. Our food has been excellent but I'm not sure if it's a hotel thing or someone else catering. Only three days in but so far the stay has been excellent. We'll done Victoria Marriott.

The location for this hotel is excellent. You can easily walk to the BC Maritime Museum, the Museum of BC, Emily Carr House, Beacon Park, an outdoor market, shops, harbour area, Chinatown…..we just walked and walked! You can’t walk from the airport though so you will need to arrange for a taxi, bus, etc. If you just want to be in the downtown area and are able to walk distances, you won’t need a car. There were many good restaurants nearby. I think we liked Red Fish, Blue Fish the best and it’s not really a restaurant but is a fun experience and the fish is cooked perfectly.
We had little interaction with the staff but they did seem to be pleasant, saying hello, etc. We had an afternoon drink in the outdoor bar area but we didn’t eat at the hotel and did not use the pool, fitness room, etc.
While we were checking in, we were told that since we were staying four days, our room would not be cleaned. I know other reviewers have mentioned this. Not long ago we spent four days at a Bonvoy resort and we had the choice of daily service or bonus points but at the Inner Harbour there was no option. Quite frankly, it really isn’t a problem for us to make our bed or hang up our towels but I don’t care to be asking the front desk for shampoo, etc. There was one tiny bottle of shampoo and a half filled bottle of conditioner for two of us for four days. Most hotels, have large containers of body wash, shampoo and conditioner attached to the shower wall and that’s so much better for the environment than those tiny bottles. The hand towels should have been replaced and the garbage needing picking up. I did see one bag of garbage left outside a room but felt that was not appropriate. I think the hotel should think about this cleaning policy and that’s why I did not give them a rating of five out of five.
Our room was quiet and we did not have a balcony. We faced the pool area and the view was of the street, other hotels, condos, etc. The decorating was simple but very nice. We did have trouble using our iPads with the internet service but the tech support was helpful and fixed us up right away. The beds were comfy and our room was clean on arrival. We had no complaints about the room decor and the bathroom was nicely finished. Closet space and hangers were sufficient. There was a safe, small refrigerator and housecoats. I would have preferred a larger bath mat but that’s a minor complaint.
This was a good choice and we would be glad to return here.

I chose this hotel on the basis of its amenities, price point and location. It did not disappoint. Though I was initially assigned to a rather grim room overlooking the gravel roof of what's probably the fitness centre, I politely asked if there was anything else available. Although they were fully booked, the front desk clerk (Mady?) moved me to 1301, which was fantastic. Although it faced the same direction, it had a completely different vibe: bright, spacious, and pleasant. I spent three nights and enjoyed my visit very much. That said, the wait for the elevators got a little tedious and I overheard other guests complaining about the parking situation. The pool and hot tub were very enjoyable. I ate all three breakfasts at the hotel restaurant. The yogurt, granola and berry parfait was fantastic! My other breakfasts were lighter fare (toast and coffee). Unfortunately the espresso maker was broken the entire time I was there so I can't rate the cappuccino. All the staff were terrific. Although there is no daily housekeeping service because of COVID, you just ask for more supplies. I asked for coffee and shampoo and they were delivered IMMEDIATELY. I would stay here again without hesitation.

According to one of the management team when we checked in, all of Victoria is struggling to get staff and as such, there were several aspects that under normal "open for business" times wouldn't be anywhere near the mark.
For example the line up for the restaurant was excessive, however once we got a table, the service although understandably slow, was polite. Parking is clearly an issue and whilst the Marriott Bonvoy website states parking is available, the management team advise IT IS NOT GUANANTEED (yes, I know capitals indicates shouting and this is exactly what happened when we said we weren't impressed by being asked to use public parking 2 blocks away). If parking is important to you, I'd advise phoning ahead before confirming your booking.
The hotel cleanliness seemed to be low priority, and there was little evidence of the special sanitizing process advertised actually being done in the public areas. Over our 4 night stay, the corridor on our floor was vacuumed once, and the elevators were particularly grubby.
On the plus side, the location of this hotel is fantastic, being close to everything. The room was exactly as shown on the Marriott Bonvoy site and the hotel management team did apologize for the unprofessional check-in and tried their best to make it right.
The City of Victoria is widely advertising that the city is ready to welcome you back, but frankly, while the city may want you to return, in the main, they are just not ready to cope!

Great location and very friendly staff who will go above and beyond to help out. The rooms are very clean and there’s no carpet, which is great. However, the beds and pillows are awful. We stayed in room 705 and one of the beds made a horrendous, creaking and cracking sound when laying in bed. The a/c and/or heater has the sound of a truck driving through your room when it’s turned on. At first glance, the hotel looks great but unfortunately it’s quite run down. I don’t understand why hotels don’t put more emphasis on having good beds, mattresses and pillows. It’s one of the most important things that guests look for when staying at a hotel. We come to Victoria often but unfortunately, we will not be staying here again. Very disappointing.

This hotel does offer a wonderful location in downtown Victoria. That's about all it has going for it. The lobby and M Lounge are modern, updated, and clean... but that all goes away once you step into the elevators and guest rooms. Stale, old, dated, and a little dirty.
As a Lifetime Titanium Bonvoy member they refused to upgrade me, even though suites were available. They "offered" the upgrade if I was willing to pay for it.
I guess that's their prerogative, but having stayed at countless beautiful Bonvoy properties around the world, I have never once been asked to "pay" for an upgrade if a suite was available. Other properties understand loyalty and if they are able, the will upgrade you to some of the best rooms or suites in the house, even though they don't have to.. they still do. I'm generally a very low maintenance guest, but this place just seemed to lack genuine service and care.
Gym: Sparse equipment options, dirty
Room service: average
M Lounge: Excellent! great selection of snacks and buffet.
Save your money and stay at the Delta Ocean Point or Westin Bear Mountain resort.
They recognize loyalty, deliver great value and impeccable service for a stay that is miles ahead of this place.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Marriott but they are definitely experiencing some post COVID recovery challenges. Currently there is no daily housekeeping unless requested and then it's basically only a towel refresh. Although I requested housekeeping for the duration of our stay I had to call down every day or it didn't happen. The Club Lounge is still shuttered although water and small snacks are available for lobby pickup with Club Membership. On the plus side our rooms were nicely renovated with lovely bright decor and the staff in the restaurant were absolutely awesome. I believe the renovations are on-going so I am not sure when all floors will have the updated rooms. Parking as usual is tight. We are staying again next month so hopefully service continues on the upswing.

I stayed in Marriott for 3 nights and its only after check-in I was told that there is no daily full housekeeping service being provided. I chose to stay at brand name hotels and pay high room rate so I can get the nice service during my stay. It did not help even after talking to hotel management. My recommendation to them is don't book rooms if guests cannot be served the way they should be.
Will not stay here again, and would not recommend either.

I specifically asked this place by telephone if they had parking for my vehicle.
The answer before getting my money: An Enthusiastic Yes.
After several hours driving, my wife and I were told at Check In yesterday (24 September 2021): No Parking available at the hotel.
When I expressed disappointment to the clerk, she said:
- Hotel Parking is "limited".
- I should "learn to read their website".
She then pushed a map across the counter and said "go park at the public library" and then " walk for about 5 minutes back to the hotel".
When I asked to have my reservation cancelled another clerk said "too late" and I must pay in full "no matter what".
Avoid the aggravation from staff who have no empathy or compassion for paying customers.
Stay at one the many competitors in the same area.
My wife and I will NEVER stay here again.

My daughter had booked 6 days at The Delta Ocean Pointe Hotel but I bought a Travelzoo stay at The Inner Harbour because it was such a good deal. This is where we stayed first, moving on the Ocean Pointe after.
First we met Mady at reception. She was friendly, sweet and helpful. I had not booked our stay correctly but she graciously adjusted our reservation. We had only been in our room for a few minutes and a bottle of champagne was delivered to our room. The room was beautifully decorated, very clean and had a magnificent view.
Next we met Brie, our amazing server on the patio of the hotel. The food was good and drinks arrived quickly.
I would highly recommend this hotel because although our stay was perfect, the staff were the ones that made our stay memorable. BTW, the staff at Ocean Pointe were not in the same league. The view was fantastic but that was the only redeeming feature.
