Marketa's Bed and Breakfast offers a unique taste of traditional hospitality mixed with European flair. As soon as you walk into this heritage home built in 1912, the panelled walls echo a different era. An era of Edwardian comfort and hospitality, a place to rest and recuperate after a day investigating the many treasures of Victoria BC, the garden city of Canada.

This is the second time we have visited Marketa’s after doing the same last year. Nothing has changed.
Still as amazing as last year!!
Lovely quaint building, all the old features, decor, accessories, creaky floors, just brilliant!
Had rooms 3 & 4 on the ground level which were perfect for our needs.
Breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked to your taste, served by the loveliest ladies you will ever meet! Nothing was too much trouble, and you can almost drown in coffee & orange juice!
Marketa was “hands on” in the kitchen a few times during our stay, and always making sure we were enjoying our stay.

Perfectly placed for a short walk to everything Victoria has to offer.

Really can’t fault anything about Marketa’s and already looking forward to next year’s visit!
Thankyou Marketa, and your exceptional staff!!

During my recent stay at Marketa's bed and breakfast, I was thoroughly impressed by not only the exceptional breakfast( Marketa’s special recipe)but also by the charming and comfortable rooms that this establishment offers. The rooms at Marketa's bed and breakfast are truly a reflection of the care and attention to detail that the host, Marketa, puts into every aspect of her guest's experience.
If you are looking for accommodations with character, charm, and a high level of comfort, I highly recommend booking a stay at Marketa's bed and breakfast. Thank you, Marketa, for providing such a wonderful and unique guest experience.

Marketa's is an older home and the rooms are small but the welcome and the character of this place is large! We loved our room, the honeymoon suite, and the weather was hot in Victoria but there was a unit in the room that we could have it as cool or warm as we liked making it very comfortable. The breakfasts here are divine and the coffee is excellent. It is within walking distance to all of the harbour and downtown area of Victoria and easy walking to many eateries as well as the sea wall walk along Dallas Road. The location is excellent, the character of the place and the staff are excellent and we will stay here again.

A place where the mornings are always full of cheer,
Market's bed and breakfast, a place so dear.
Where the hospitality is warm and pure,
And the breakfast spreads keep me coming back for more.

As I sit down to a feast so divine,
I'm reminded that life's simple pleasures are mine,
The aroma of coffee, bacon and eggs,
Is a symphony that tickles my taste buds and begs.

I'm thankful for everything you do,
For your love and care, for your kind hearts so true.
Thank you for welcoming me like family,
For creating an atmosphere that's warm and homely.

Your attention to detail is second to none,
From the crisp white linens to the bread freshly done,
Market's bed and breakfast, where dreams come true,
A place where I find comfort, and bask in gratitude.

So here's a little thank you, from the bottom of my heart,
For the joy and love you bring, right from the start.
Market's bed and breakfast, you truly make my day,
And that's why I keep coming back, each time to stay.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Marketa’s a week ago. The location is perfect; easy walking distance to Inner Harbor, Beacon Hill Park, Downtown and Fisherman’s Wharf. The breakfasts were delicious and prepared with great care and joy. The staff were great. We picked the Budget Queen Room, which was described as “a snug fit”, and Marketa reached out to make sure we understood that there wouldn’t be “lounging” space in the room. It was snug, but it was very clean, as was the en suite bathroom, and we weren’t there to spend time in our room. It served our purpose. That being said, when we come back, we will book a larger room, but we highly recommend Marketa’s and the staff (women) who make it a special place.

Reservation by website works well. Prices are reasonable. No issues with arriving a tad early if you phone ahead. Friendly staff. This is an old building so expect a few creaky floors and ordinary soundproofing. All wood paneling makes it a bit dark too. I think the word 'quaint' would describe the place perfectly.

B & B is located about 7-minute walk from the Parliament on a quiet street in a residential area very close to the Fisherman’s Wharf. Coming from Schwartz Bay, hop on the bus 70 (express) or 72, get off at the last stop (Legislature) and walk the rest. Buses no 2 & 5 also run on the street.

We had room no 2 with one large bed & single bed. Large bed was reasonably comfortable (mattress was fine but the box spring?) with plenty of pillows. Everything was clean. Towels and bathrobes were provided along with usual toiletries. No place to hang the towels though. A couple of towel rods somewhere would help. T.v but no sink. Old-style shared bathroom in the hallway. Living/reading room right next door.

Breakfast is served on the back porch staring at 8 a.m. with a selection of egg dishes, pancakes, cereal, usual beverages. Quite nice! If you need to leave early (before 8 a.m.) one morning, it is possible to ask for cereal to be left out for you. Note that there is a small kitchen with a fridge and microwave + plates & cutlery. Less than 1 km away, there is a Thrifty grocery store & liquor store in you’re not into the restaurant thing.

Our stay was pleasant, and we appreciated the quietness and the good breakfast.

Five of us stayed in two rooms on the ground floor with a convenient side entrance. The location is great in that it is close to the waterfront, but a few blocks in so it is less busy and more quiet. The only indication that we were in a tourist area was the sound of hooves about 10:00 at night when the carriage horses are returning to their stables for the night. There are a few parking spots behind the inn and if they're full, street parking is not too hard to find. You are able to walk to many places, and there is also a great bike shop, The Pedaler, nearby if you'd like to rent bikes.

Accommodations were fine. There is no AC but opening the window and/or using the fan seemed to be enough, even in August. There is a nice kitchen area with a large fridge for guest use. For breakfast we were given three choices each morning. I tried all three over our three-day stay, and all entrees were excellent, especially the eggs benedict. We would not hesitate to book here again the next time we visit Victoria.

What a wonderful bed and breakfast stay! Marketas staff are so engaging and we’re great with our kids and made us all feel so welcome. It is also just a fantastic location - a 5 minute walk to the wharf and about 10 minute walk to downtown and the main harbour. The rooms were very clean and had great character. Our room overlooked the Main Street and our daughter enjoyed seeing the horse rides go past the window.

Overall a great stay and would definitely recommend.

I am a light sleeper and always find it difficult to travel. But I really had a fantastic sleep at Marketa's for the following reasons:
The bed is really very comfortable. The temperature in the room was easy to regulate (a little electric fireplace makes it warmer if you wish, and there was a window in my room). The curtains on the windows REALLY work to make the room dark (in my experience that is very rare in B&B as well as in hotels and I love to sleep in a dark room). The neighbourhood is quiet.
Also I enjoyed the owner, very nice person and the staff who helped. Breakfast was good and one cannot do better if looking for a walkable location.
Good vibes in this place!

I haven't seen any pets the few nights that I was there. It is an easy 10 minute walking distance from all the ferries. Yes, contact Marketa's to answer that question or any other questions on your mind.

As a guest, I want to say it was smoke free. It's a small B&B, maybe about 4-5 rooms?? They had a fantastic breakfast there. The best eggs Florentine and great muffins. I'd stay there again.

Dear guests, there are 3 different ferries. Do you know which one are you taking? Are you going directly to the states or to Vancouver?
Answer from msgypsy
victoria54 contributions65 helpful votes
HI there, Depending on what ferry you are taking, the ferry from Vancouver arrives in Schwartz Bay, from there it is approximatley 45 min to an hour to us depending on the ferry. If you are coming from the Clipper or the Coho it is about 10 minutes walk.
