Welcome! Come and enjoy our incredible 1898 heritage house, completely updated with all modern amenities for a truly comfortable stay. Our fabulous location is in the historic James Bay neighbourhood of downtown Victoria, your perfect starting point for exploration. Within a block of the house you can discover stunning seaside paths & beaches, tranquil strolls through the 200 acres of Beacon Hill Park, or walk the local streets and appreciate the amazing heritage homes. Ashcroft House Inn is an easy 15 minute walk to Victoria's famous Inner Harbour, the gateway to our beautiful and historic town.
We stayed at Ashcroft House last week whilst staying on Vancouver Island. We stayed in The Dogwood suite for a week which consisted of a bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and sitting room. The accommodation was absolutely beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable and spacious. There was also a view of the garden from the bedroom and sitting room windows which was delightful to sit in when the weather was hot and a bit of shade was needed! Shannon and her daughter, Cassidy, were very helpful and informative. The breakfast was exactly what we would have at home - fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt and an endless supply of tea/coffee. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and especially The Dogwood Suite.

Spent 2 nights in the Taylor Suite. Great rates, outstanding accommodations, and the continental breakfast was exceptional. Location is excellent with easy walking access to sights of the inner harbor. Will stay again when back in the area.

Ashcroft House is a lovely and comfortable place. Location great - quiet street, just a block off the ocean walk. A 20 minute flat walk to downtown. Only local traffic. Very comfortable bed, and good sized rooms. Very nicely appointed with antiques, spotlessly clean. House was built about 1898. Previous owners did not offer breakfast, but now there is a continental breakfast, coffee, tea, fruit, pastries. You can sit in the front closed-in veranda and eat breakfast, or we sat with some wine later on. A really relaxed stay, owners are very personable.

Although it was mid-pandemic, we had an incredible Canadian Staycation in Victoria, at the Ashcroft House B&B. Our suite, which is the largest at the Inn, was SUPER clean, welcoming, beautiful, comfortable! We stayed in the Dogwood Suite, which is fully renovated with a modern bathroom/shower/soaker tub. The bedroom had a very comfortable king size bed with fireplace, a closet, lots of hangers, robes. We had a very nice size living room, lots of seating, fireplace, and a full kitchen with a breakfast bar for 2! The massive windows, hardwood floors, antique furnishings mixed with new, just oozed late 1800's yet modern charm... We were able to have a peek at the other guest rooms that weren't occupied, and while ours was the only one with a full kitchen, I'd be absolutely fine with staying in any other suite. I don't like to cook on vacation :) Very homey, warm, inviting, clean... right down to the sherry and light snacks available to the guests xo Perfectly located, 1 block from the ocean, short walk to the grocer, restaurants and downtown... I look forward to returning to Victoria and staying here again!…

Although Ashcroft is now a "Bed, No Breakfast", our room had a fridge and a coffee maker, as well as ample dishes/cutlery available if you choose to buy your own breakfast fixings. The list of nearby restaurants was helpful. Ashcroft is within a 20 minute walk of downtown, the water, a massive park and several tourist attractions in the James Bay area and Cook Street Village. Our room was clean, spacious, quiet and comfortable. We've stayed here 3 or 4 times and would definitely stay again.

We had a terrific stay in Victoria at the Ashcroft House Inn during the August long weekend. The home is beautiful and very well maintained with soaring ceilings and lovely decor throughout. Parking is predominantly on the street but we never struggled to find a spot. The location is beautiful and quiet, right by Beacon Park, close to James Bay village and Cook Street Village too. It's about a 25-30 minute scenic walk to downtown through the lovely residential neighborhood. The rooms are beautifully appointed and the beds are super comfortable. We enjoyed the outdoor side patio too. Although there is no breakfast provided, there are little take-along snacks for your outings and we felt the value was excellent. Communication with both Paula the owner and Alberto the on-site manager was excellent. We will stay here again when in Victoria!…

A very attractive property built at the turn of the 20th century. Very good location in safe, upmarket James Bay. The Ashcroft is close to a large park and a pleasant coastal walk c20-30 mins to downtown, depending on your choice of route. Very convenient, regular and reliable buses can be found around the corner which cost $5 for an all day ticket. The Ashcroft is attractively furnished and well appointed. The Sheldon was a good size room with a large and very comfortable bed, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. The bathrobes were among the best we have come across. Although at the front of the building it was very quiet. We were made aware before our visit that breakfast was no longer provided beyond some granola bars/fruit available in the hallway. This did mean that we spent additional time/money on breakfast but we had no problem with this as we were warned and there were nice places to eat, one very reasonably priced only 5-10 mins walk. We were surprised to discover that the inn also has a policy of not freshening up the rooms in any way during your stay, irrespective of how long that may be. Considering we were staying for 5 nights we felt this was disappointing. Following our query about this on our second day, Alberto explained the policy and did offer to do whatever we needed as a special request. We decided to go along with the policy and made our own bed for the rest of our stay. There were no cleaning products in the room to freshen up the hand basin etc. Perhaps this policy reflects differences between B & Bs in the UK and Canada. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Ashcroft and would certainly recommend it as a reasonably priced and very nice place to stay in an ideal location.…

This is what you really need on holiday. A place to be, on walking distance from all the attractions. Paulanne is a great host and the house is a welcome home away from home. The Victorian house breathes heritage from every pore and the ambiance is amazing. Paulanne serves no breakfast, she changed her concept. We called it ironically the 'bed no breakfast'. This turned out to be great, because there was no need for a 'getting up early discipline' and Paulanne helped us out to nearby food-stores and supermarkets. We stayed a couple of nights at the beginning of our Vancouver Island roundtrip. Luckily we could make an instant reservation for two more nights at the end of our tour. When we returned we felt as welcome as the first time. Again the stay was great. Thank you, Paulanne; all the best to you and yours. Cheers, Karin and Oeds.…

Beautiful Victorian home, nicely located in a residential neighborhood, one block from the ocean and a large beautiful park. This was perfect for ocean-side walks and walks through the park. Easy 15 minute walk to town or a short drive. The room was quite spacious and beautifully appointed with a very comfortable bed. We enjoyed the hospitality of both Paulanne and Alberto who were extremely friendly and helpful with our plans.

This was our second stay in the Ashcroft house, and it was even better than the first one. The rooms were reconstructed, and this time we had a full suite with a small kitchen, a bedroom with a kingsize-bed and a huge bathroom with a giant bathtub for two. Heaven! We felt like at home. Next morning we had a wonderful breakfast, prepared by our host Paulanne. She is such a sweet person! What a pity, that her husband passed away this year, and she has to change the policy, serving no more breakfast. Paulanne has a loveable dog, would be a great partner for our Golden Retriever. Paulanne, we wish you all the best for your future, thank you very much for the long chats we had with you and the nice time we spent at your place.
