My rooms were clean and functional. The location is on a pretty busy road but the noise level was acceptable for me. When I checked out, I left some goods in the room. I had no trouble retrieving same. I appreciate the service.

We needed to make a quick trip to Victoria and things were pretty booked out. We viewed this property on line and read the Trip Advisor reports. Seemed okay so we booked it. Well, the reviews were bang on. Our room (#33) had been renovated and while small, was tastefully decorated, clean, quiet and we had a great nights sleep. On check in, the front desk person was very helpful and friendly. The property is pretty close to the main bus route into town. There are several restaurants, convenience stores and fast food outlets in the next block (Tim Hortons and Subway). A real bargain and we will stay there again, no problem!!!

Room Tip: Looks like overnight guests get the lower floor, I would stick with that.

This motel is in a horrible part of town. Many unsavoury characters live in the motel/hang out in the parking lot. There is no air conditioning so you need to sleep with the window open. Unfortunately, it is not possible to sleep while the window is open as you can hear fights breaking out in the parking lot all night. There is also bug traps all over the room that are ineffective as you will get bitten through the night and wake up itchy. The Scotsman key is massive, an approximately 1 ft. long green stick with a house key attached to it. Very strange and awkward. There is no hair dryer in the room. I would suggest staying anywhere but here.

Both the front desk girl and the manager were very friendly and helpful. For a great price you get a large room, with fridge. The bed was very comfortable and there was no noise at night. Easy to get to location. Right near Douglas St. lots of parking available.

The spouse booked this hotel. After reading the the reviews i was not looking forward to this. At all. What I found was a very basic hotel is a noisy ( motorcycles-trucks- police sirens-hooping and hollering) and sketchy ( working girls - many street people) area. The staff were GREAT and trying really hard to improve the hotel. Friendly. Competent. The unit we had was 2 bed kitchenette. recently painted. Clean. No bugs ( I Looked). One bed was excellent one not so much. HOT HOT HOT. they provided a wimpy fan but really need air con. coffee provided. Pleasantly and promptly provided us with the extra pillows and towels we requested.
Not for sensitive people.
The company owes their stars to the excellence of their staff.

The room was clean, large and well equipped. Everything worked and the shops nearby provided for all our needs. Our room faced the traffic but the road was quiet at night. No aircon so fresh air is from the large window. Staff were excellent.

Stayed for a month while looking for my own place. The stay was fine, price was reasonable, clean room. Upon checkout they took funds from my damage deposit for a missing bath mat, which I am 101% sure was still in the room and not with me. Not a huge charge, but they were not willing to discuss it. Being new to town and broke I needed that cash to buy food! 😥
Lise/Lisa at the desk was a gem, but Peter the owner clearly should not be trusted with laundry hah! Getting ripped off like that (which I bet he’s done before) was just a bummer after a decent stay.

We stayed at the Scotsman one night in Victoria, and we were very satisfied. The beds were comfortable, kitchenette was well stocked... Nice little coffee machine! We could not get the tv remote to work. There was a portable air conditioner which we appreciated. Lots of towels provided.

Nonsmoking room smelled of cigarette smoke. No concession from management. Smokers everywhere outside rooms. Nonsmoking policy does not seem to be enforced. Front desk stated they had deionizer in room for hours. Amazingly this did not clean room of smoke residue. Very unpleasant. Other guests seemed to know and smoke everywhere outdoors and maybe indoors. No motel rep on site overnight. We had to deal with loud partiers at 3am ourselves. Very unpleasant stay. However, if you are a smoker this is a great place and reasonable.

They do have monthly rates for the rooms on the upper floor. However, I think they have a waiting list for them because they are so popular. but contact them and see what they say.
