Our stay at Evolution made as rethink going to a regular hotel the next time we are in Whistler (previously stayed at the Fairmount Hotel’s ). It’s located on Creekside so not in the village.

Our suite was clean, spacious, with modern amenities - higher end appliances, huge soaker tub and shower, heated bathroom floors, a fireplace - everything a family would need. I was impressed they even provided dishwasher pods and laundry soap. The pool was small but available to book to keep the numbers low due to COVID-19. We also appreciated the 11:00 am check out.

We will return and hopefully by then the games room, sauna, steam room and gym will be opened.

Ok this super modern one br condo is my absolute favorite. It's got heated bathroom floor, and every modern upgrade humanly possible. An absolute must if you're going skiing at Whistler. We will be going back every year. Went November 2012 for opening day on the slopes. Perfect for couples or families.

Evolution™ is a quarter-share owned condominium that offers rentals through the Lodging Ovations reservations system that also manages First Tracks Lodge™ and Legends™ in Whistler Creek. This is not a full service hotel, i.e., there is no door man, valet, on site concierge, room service; so if you are looking for full-service then keep shopping, but if you are looking for a modern condominium, with underground parking, outdoor pool/hot-tub, games room, & bike/ski lockers, all located very close to the Creekside Gondola, then look no further than Evolution™.

There is a public transit bus stop directly in front of the property for quick access to transit served locations such as Whistler Village, Nesters, Meadow Park, etc. Whistler Creek offers restaurants, a grocery store, & liquor store, for food & beverage options.

Our only "complaints": the room was too hot despite turning all heating equipment off, and the low-flow shower was frustrating if you wanted to get wet fast!

The space: The design seems very modern although the furniture and finishes are looking dated now. The bathroom is enormous which is nice. But the rest of the suite is small - no dining table - you have to perch up to the kitchen counter to eat. The kitchen is small but well equipped. Not enough chairs in the living room or on the deck for 4 people. The fireplace didn't work and the staff didn't know how to turn it on.

Noise: Make sure you are guaranteed a room on the opposite side from the highway or you will be shouting over the traffic whilst sitting on your deck. You can hear every footstep from the people I the suite above . And the landline rang every night in the middle of the night and woke us up...

Did not use the pool or hot tub which looked nice.

In the past I've stayed at Legend's other property, Fast Tracks, and it's much better. Evolution is newer and has more "modern" decor. But the rooms are smaller, particularly the living/ dining room. It also feels less like a whistler hotel because of the cheesy "modern" decor.
The room we have is looking worn. The carpets need to be replaced, the dining room chairs are heavy and falling apart, and the lampshades are stained. Not impressed!

Your absolutely inflexible cancellation policy and customer service is terrible. Due to extenuating circumstances we were unable to use the room, so we cannot comment on the room suitability. We informed you 30 days in advance of the booking and of course our request for cancellation was denied as we needed to give 45 days notice. If we could have given that much notice we would have. Luckily many hotels in Whistler are managed with much more regard for unforeseen circumstances and customers are treated with compassion....Lodging Ovations is not one of them. The room cost us $3,200 for 7 nights and we were unable to use it and you were unwilling to transfer the property or help us to find someone to take over the rental. I asked to speak with someone beyond your call centre staff. They gave me an email address. I sent an email outlining my concerns and never got a reply. Your slogan Best Price Guarantee" is totally bogus . How much is a one bedroom suite in March? it sure isn't $450 per night....more like $350? We were not only not able to cancel....but then we were held to pay the premium price for a room that sat empty. Thanks for nothing.

Response from Ovations, Director of Sales at Evolution
Responded Apr 2, 2013
Dear Renee G, I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with our cancellation policies. Being a resort hotel with seasonal demands and long-lead booking patterns, we must have some certainty with our bookings as, once confirmed, other guests are actively declined accommodation and deprived of an opportunity to visit the resort and enjoy the exceptional season. These cancellation policies are emphasized at the time of booking and also via email confirmation(s). Looking at your reservation I see that you had originally booked at Evolution for the 22nd of December for seven (7) nights and that you contacted the reservations center on November 25th to cancel the booking as you had purchased a place in Whistler. Unfortunately, this was well within our 45 day nonrefundable cancellation period. Out of courtesy we offered to move your reservation to another date or for you to assign the reservation to one of your friends. Both options were presented to try and help you with your booking situation. On Dec 6, 2012, upon your request, Customer Care moved your reservation to March 16 - 23, 2013. On Feb 11, 2013, you requested another date change which was not permitted due to the fact that a change had already been made. I am truly surprised and puzzled by your mention “we were unable to use the room, so we cannot comment on the room suitability" as we have a registration card signed with your name and there was also a car parked in our parkade under your registration for the entire stay!? Thank you for your diligence in bringing your sentiments to our attention via our Guest Folio and Trip Advisor. Regards,

This place is horrible. Horrible service. Crappy location. The keys only work once or twice and then you keep having to go to another building to get a new one. All they say is “that’s regrettable”. And they say you shouldn’t get your key wet. Well I’m skiing in the snow and rain and the keys are in my Gore-Tex pocket. And the last two times they weren’t even wet at all I wasn’t skiing. I spent hours of my trip so far at day 2 being locked out of my room.
All I get from the manager after I stand in line - again -for new key is “that’s regrettable”. They use these cheap scratched keys that they keep reusing and they’re all beat. I stay in hotels all the time and I’m not buying their blaming me for the key issues. Even a brand new key Didn’t work and I was locked in the garage.
One time I waited for them to send one over for me and I sat in the hallway for 20 minutes. This place is really mismanaged. They can’t even get a simple thing right. I’m paying top dollar I should be able to have access to my room.

They seem to think this is acceptable and my fault. It’s really frustrating.

We and our two kids had enjoyed our stay at Evolution and can recommend these condos with some important reservations. Fellow travelers should be well aware of the negatives first: if you expect ski-in and ski-out and / or lift side property, this is not the place. The walk with your skis is not a long one certainly (less than 100 yards). You can ski in even closer on the right side of The Legends lodge at the base of Creekside gondola and with a few bumps of watery snow you will be within 50 yards. Be aware by the way that Whistler is essentially a "suburb" resort - it is so close to Vancouver that city denizens go to ski there on their weekends and a lot take Friday off as well. So the lifts are very crowded Friday and Saturday. About Creekside for those new to Whistler (and we were): it is a very small, quiet and not very attractive village, quite distant from Whistler: taxi ride is 15 CAD, and the bus is 2.50 for adult and 2 CAD for a child. Adult bus tickets can be purchased at the Legends (location of a bus stop as well). The ride will take 10-15 minutes depending on time of the day. The service is reasonably frequent (every 10-20 minutes). There is no direct service to Blackomb base. You will need to change the bus at the bus loop of Whistler. Ski school at Creekside has serious disadvantages for those with children (relative to Whistler and Blackomb): they do not offer private lessons for beginners and only offer 3 days adventure camp rather than 5 days like main locations. They do offer two days extension but they do not guarantee the same teacher for the extension days. Also be aware that if you register you kids to ski school online, you still have to line up to get their vouchers and ski lift tickets prior to bringing them to ski school. The line is unlikely to be long but somehow it still takes forever. I guess one of the main problems there is that they do not prepare vouchers and tickets for those who paid on line in advance but still keep looking into their computers and print them out as you wait. Tickets are old style - not your Vail e-cards.
The supermarket is very convenient for the Evolution (less than 5 minutes walk) and the selection is reasonably impressive but we did not manage to buy typical things our kids particularly enjoy (specific kind of yogurt or drinks that are very common in any US supermarket).
Negatives on the lodge itself: it is great that it is a pet friendly lodge but if you have the slightest allergies to pets you are in trouble. No matter how well the staff cleans the rooms you will be sneezing and red-eyeing all week long. They do not seem to separate pet-friendly from pet free rooms. There is no concierge or staffed lobby desk at the Evolution - all services are provided by the desk at - you guessed it - The Legends. So if you arrive with lots of skis and bags, you are welcome to push your trolley that is conveniently available at the lobby. The elevators have to be the slowest on earth as well. The rooms are somehow getting way too warm at night, and opening small windows does not really help. There is an acceptable set of utensils at the kitchen but - as seems to be a perennial problem with these lodges the world over - the knives need good sharpening. There is no restaurant at this lodge and in general most good restaurants are NOT at Creekside but in Whistler village. The exception is a Creekbread pizza restaurant at Creekside - less than 5 minutes walk from the lodge.

Nevertheless on the balance this was a great vacation and the lodge is very good. One bedroom suite is very well designed, the bathroom and rooms are very comfortable. While Creekside has clear shortcomings, there are clear advantages: it is by far not as crowded, the skiing of the Whistler mountain on the Creekside is amazing, and the access to other sides and to Blackcomb mountain is very convenient. Kids loved the mountain.

My husband and I stayed at Evolution this year for Christmas and New Years. At our expense, the manager of Evolutions kindly arranged for following in our room upon our arrival:

- a stunning real pine Christmas tree lit up with tiny fairy lights
(the elves had left the decorations in a bowl so that we could decorate the tree ourselves :-)
- A bottle of champagne chilled in a bucket of ice

We couldnt have asked for a better hotel! We thought that Creekside was much nicer than the main village, which can be rather noisy at night.
The room was very modern, quiet and was very close walking distance to the lifts. We caught the Creekside lift up each day and snowboarded across to Whistler and Blackcomb mountains before snowboarding back to Creekside at the end of the day. If we were tired at the end of the day we occasionally caught the bus back to Creekside for $2.50 CAD (exact change required). There is also supermarket and liquor shop also within walking distance to Evolution. There is a really nice bar in Creekside, Dustys, where you should try the bucekt of bones and a Canadian drink "The horse with no shame" - very unique and different.

Evolutions also has a very large hot tub, a smaller hot tub, steam room and pool, which only had a few people in them at any one time, unlike other larger hotels.

We also loved that the hotel was pet friendly and was nice seeing different dogs going up and down in the lifts and playing in the snow. We had a fantastic holiday and cant wait to return.

Yes there are elevators. Parking (for 1 vehicle) is generally included with your room rate. Each suite controls its own heat. No buffet, but each suite is a fully self contained condo (fridge, stove, dishes, coffee maker, etc). A local, well stocked grocery store is about a 2 minute walk across the street and has everything you would need to make breakfast. Alternatively, next to the grocery store is a Starbucks or about a 5 minute walk away is South Side Diner which offers great breakfasts. There are also other breakfast options nearby but would require a longer walk, biking or driving to get there. Evolution and its next door neighbor Legends are both great and super convenient to the gondola.

is there a shuttle to the main village?
The public transit runs quite frequently and there is a bus stop just outside Evolution on London Lane. We sell bus tickets at our front desk at Legends or the buses accept cash as well. The fare is $2.50 CAD each way, or there is a day pass that provides unlimited riding all day for $7.00 CAD. It takes approximately 10 minutes to bus from Creekside into the main Village.

We were facing west on the 3rd floor, gorgeous moutain view great spot to get your feel of what is around ..Legends, Creek Side..there is a Tim Horton's right on the corner. You will find all your needs from coffee pot to washer dryer in suite. These accmodations will not disappoint but quiet time is strictly enforced..have a great time!
