The Sundial Hotel garners praise for its spacious and comfortable rooms with impressive views, though a few guests feel the decor is outdated. Its prime central location is celebrated for proximity to gondolas and village attractions, though it comes with a trade-off of occasional noise complaints. Guests have called out the hotel's cleanliness and commendable amenities, including in-suite kitchens and rooftop hot tubs. The service at Sundial Hotel is often highlighted for staff's warm and efficient assistance. Opinions on value are mixed, with some finding the pricing steep despite the perks.

I have great experience in this hotel, partly it’s non peak season. Nevertheless, all the crew are very attentive, friendly and accommodating. The hotel is clean, well maintained and the room is great. It was not easy to find the hotel at first, I had to ask around. One big wowed for me is the sustainability (paperless check-in, recycling bag in the room and activities/information listed on TV). Keep it up.

My family just came back from a fantastic mid-week 3 night stay at the Sundial. The rooms were large as advertised, clean and the kitchen was well appointed with everything you need if you wanted to make meals. You can't ask for a better location as you're right beside the Whistler Blackcomb lifts/gondola. We've stayed in Upper Village and Creekside before so really appreciated the central location in the Village as the kids could wander around on their own and don't have to cross streets to come back.

While we were situated above some restaurants that were playing loud music at street level we could not hear it inside the rooms. Rooms have a coffee maker but the highlight was the Nespresso machine in the lobby that provided our first jolt in the mornings. The parking was FREE mid-week and lots of spots available. A welcome change as most hotels charge parking between $20-$40 per night.

I loved the bike mechanic stand, bike pump and water hose setup next to the bike locker. Great to be able to rinse off dust and mud after each ride. I also loved that this hotel provides free bike rentals for those who didn't bring along.

The icing on the cake was the staff. Thank you to Emily and front desk person with British accent (sorry I forgot your name) and the staff who helped us numerous times to check in and out our bikes from storage. Special thanks to Justin who was the consummate host. From providing us with useful and accurate village info to always checking in with us via SMS to make sure our needs were met Justin treated us like friends rather than customers.

We booked the Sundial based on its location and great value but we'll come back because the staff clearly wanted to make our stay enjoyable.

Have just finished a 6 night stay in a deluxe suite, the room was a bit dated but well maintained , daily housekeeping was great. Our room was located in a corner and was a bit dark but otherwise well equipped an comfortable, the heated floor in the bathroom was a bonus for drying wet ski gear overnight and putting warm boots on each morning. Our room had a small but well equipped kitchen with a full size fridge, dishwasher, oven and microwave. The location of the hotel is the major highlight, only a few moments walk to the Blackombe and Whistler lifts and the ski valet service was great, after a day on the slopes simply walk in and hand your skis to the friendly team and then collect them the next day ... so easy ! The coin operated laundry facilities in the basement were really useful. The staff are not overly friendly, unless you speak first they don’t speak to you, the doorman seemed more interested in their mobile phones than interacting with guests but this was a minor issue the scheme of things. Looking forward to our next visit

We made an excellent choice on staying with the Sundial Boutique. Friendly staff members at all levels of this facility. (especially Jay at front desk). Our mountain view room (#803) was ready & well equipped with most required essentials. Hotel is nicely located to lifts & restaurants. Recommend staying at this end of the village. Also like the under ground secured vehicle parking. This hotel was well organized for the COVID requirements, which included signage, hand sanitizer, elevator only allows 2 people per trip to the rooms. Rooms cannot be cleaned daily if you stay longer than several days, which worked well for us. Only recommendation would to have toilet brush & cleaner for the rooms for families staying for several days!

The Sundial provides the perfect, convenient respite in Whistler. You can't go wrong with a full kitchen and living room, with a pullout, to expand your options while vacationing. The location is so central and walkable to all the major village hotspots, nearby trails and the gondola. Perfect for families and groups. We have stayed multiple times over the years and it's always our go-to hotel stay. This time around we had a toddler and it was the perfect space to eat in when needed with the conveniences of the fully equipped kitchen. In the time of COVID, they have taken extra precautions so we felt very safe staying at the hotel. The only reason I am giving it a 4 instead of a 5 is that the pull-out (as most hotel pull-out mattresses) is pretty uncomfortable and you can feel the springs, but we just put a blanket on top to buffer. The staff are also super courteous. I witnessed the professional handling of a high maintenance customer during our stay, who was demanding quite a lot of perks while there was a growing line of people behind him and the staff member was super patience and apologized after to the folks in line. Looking forward to my next stay already!

We have been coming to Whistler since 2001 and have stayed at the Sundial about 14 times.

We love the location, the size of the rooms and the ability to self cater.

The staff are really friendly and the hotel has a real warmth about it.

The beds are good (with a mattress topper). They have a ski valet and valet parking.

The downsides:
- the rooms and appliances need updating
- because of the location some of the rooms are exposed to the relentless music and screaming drunks that spill out of the nearby Longhorn Hotel. Earplugs and the fact that the music is pretty good means you can cope.

Will we go back - probably yes.

We are local residents and have stayed at many hotels and condos in Whistler. We found the location fabulous at the base of the mountains and the cycling was accessible to all areas. The valet's Chris and Chad were most accommodating with our cycles from arrival to each time we made a stop at the hotel or locked them up.

The staff are very friendly, professional and helpful in every way. Found the Covid 19 protocols were maintained and I felt very SD. The room was very well appointed with full suite including kitchen and balcony and views from all windows of the mountains. Was concerned it would be noisy being in the centre of the village but the windows are extremely sound proofed and had fan to keep us cool with windows closed at night.

Jay the Manager texted us twice at least to ensure our stay was satisfactory. The visit was one of our best at Whistler and I would highly recommend the Sundial for all looking for a central and luxurious location.

We stayed at westin a night before in whistler for $2500 per night and for some reason we had to stay for 1 extra night so we tried sundial. Their accomodation was more spacious with less than 1/3 a price and with kids it was amazing to have large kitchen with spacious living room.

It was so hot today so we asked if we could check out little late and I was ready to pay penalty. Westin did not accommodate our request while sundial gladly told us they would be okay with 2 pm check out.

They have text service. Whatever you need, reschedule your swimming time or parking or any needs of housekeeping, we just texted them. Superb

We had a great stay (myself, my wife and 1 year old child) at the Sundial. The suite (high floor 1 bedroom mountain view suite with balcony) was very clean and had everything we needed as a family. Meg at the front desk was very helpful during our stay for anything we needed. Anthony from the maintenance team was very helpful and promptly helped us with a few minor issues as well (such as TV remote not working). There was no issues with noise from the village on the 7th floor and we were very pleased with the cleaning/safety procedures in place at the hotel. We can't wait to visit again!

We had an excellent stay at the Sundial Boutique Hotel; I honestly can't speak highly enough of the welcome we received not only during check in, but for our entire stay.

Check in was quick and easy. We were checked in by Jay, who was so friendly and helpful, and really went above and beyond (little extra touches, like texts to make sure our room was OK and to check we didn't need anything).

Our one-bedroom suite was HUGE! Full kitchen with everything you need for 4 people, fireplace, TV. Bed was super comfortable with a great pillow menu (I always love a pillow menu :).

Location is so central - our suite was on the 7th floor, towards the back of the hotel so it was really quiet. Gorgeous mountain views.

COVID precautions are in place. Nice extra touch of disposable masks and alcohol wipes in the room upon our arrival.

I don't think I would stay anywhere else in Whistler in the future. The Sundial has really set the bar high.

is this hotel kid friendly and how is the skiing in early April?
Answer from Candace N
Surrey, Canada176 contributions32 helpful votes
yes the hotel is kid friendly as most places in Whistler are… It doesn’t have a lot of children amenities so the outdoor activities are either outside or there’s a children’s park play area not far away and hotel can guide you to that… As far as skiing in April it’s weather condition and the skiing in April will the snows not quite as powdery but they endeavour their best to make it beautiful… You can book an advance and then check the weather closer to the date and meet your cancellation time if you feel that this does not adequate… Don’t forget to use Google earth to check out the snow on the mountain as well.
