A quaint 28 rooms hotel. The inside looks much better than the outside. The room seemed to be recently renovated. Numeric key-pad lock in each room is unexpected and is much better than the conventional key card entry. The room has room for an extra bedside table which would make it better. The customised long table under the TV can be extended further to provide more counter space which it lacks in the room. Some counter space beside the washroom basin would be nice. Instead it only has a narrow glass shelf above. Overall, a great stay.

The Queen Bee is an independent hotel that is "basic", in that there aren't amenities outside the room, but also budget-priced and very satisfactory inside the room (which has a fridge, microwave, coffee-maker and lots of space). It's extremely clean, comfortable and quiet. While the neighbourhood is mostly strip-malls and not especially exciting, the Queen Bee is right outside the west gates of the University of Manitoba, if you want to go for a nice walk. You can also see IG Field, the CFL football stadium, right out the window, about a 10 minute walk to the east.

I found my stay very pleasant. The room was excellent! Very clean and comfortable. The manager at the desk was very accommodating and helpful. I've stayed at a lot of different Hotels and Motels this can't be beat for the quality you get for the price. I would most definitely stay here again and would recommend it to my friends.

This place was awesome. What do you need in a hotel? It had a supremely comfortable bed and the room was spotlessly clean. It exceeded our expectations as it was close to UofM for the MVB tournament and public transit. Glad we chose not to stay somewhere downtown for twice the price. Our room was roadside so I was a little concerned about noise but the place must be well insulated because it was QUIET. Well done owners.

Stayed couple nights when I was attending a seminar at the University of Manitoba. The only reason I booked this hotel was because it was so close to the University. Just couple minutes away. However, I felt so lucky because the hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff are very friendly. The price is reasonable too compared to other hotels in the area. It's not a huge hotel but the management is doing a really good job for sure. I would definitely visit again.

I was initially concerned about staying here. The property is close to the university (across the road) and it might have been kind of a party place for students. It appears in recent times that the place has been remodelled (still in progress) and maybe under new ownership. As it is, rooms were clean, staff were helpful and overall we had a very good experience.

First impression I got from the front desk was amazing, with a great smile, asked me few general questions to start the conversation which made me feel comfortable.
Overall, hotel was pretty clean, I didn't see damages or any stains in our room. This hotel is just a basic hotel not a super fancy one.
Also, it is very close to U of M , I personally didn't visit U of M but I am sure there are a lot of people looking for a hotel. I think they should try this hotel instead of paying double price at brand named hotel.

The Queen Bee Hotel provides just about the best value in a hotel that I have ever experienced! If you are on a tight budget but are looking for a simple and modest yet comfortable, spotlessly clean, and safe place to stay - you'll be very happy here. The hotel appears to be family owned and mostly run by family - their pride in the place is evident - by the end of my recent November stay they had decked out the lobby and entrance hall with lovely holiday decorations. For more details, see my list of Major/Minor Pros & Cons below!!

Major Pros:
- All the bathroom fixtures were brand new. The bathroom was cleaned meticulously on a daily basis. Water was of excellent quality out of the tap, and water pressure very good.
- The mattress appeared quite new and perfectly clean with new pillows. The sheets were nice, clean, and of excellent quality. The quilt on top (instead of a comforter) disappointed me at first, but I learned to love it in the end - it was 'less stylish' but way better than the usual comforter - thus, this ended up being a surprise bonus.
- With a microwave and fridge in the room, I was able to stockpile some food in my room and prepare some simple stuff to eat right there. This was very convenient as it helped me save money on eating out. There are a multitude of grocery stores nearby.
- The University of Manitoba is pretty nearly across the street - extremely accessible if you have business there.
- The front desk was very helpful when I had questions, and responded immediately when I discovered that the bathtub was missing a drain plug.
- Excellent tv image quality, with a wide assortment of cable channels available.
- Easy simple temperature control unit at your very own disposal so you can get things just right.

Minor Cons:
- At times it appears that sound travels throughout the hotel more than I would have liked it. However, the moments that I was disturbed were brief and always in the earlier evenings. The hotel has posters up all over the place which state "a quiet time after 11PM is strictly enforced", and I never once heard any noises after this time.
- The carpet is clean, but it is a little ratty and old... but perfectly functional and, as said, clean.
- I would have preferred to have a small gym in the hotel - even just the usual tiny room with just a treadmill and an elliptical. You won't find this there, however.
- The hotel is located in the south end of the city, and it is a drive of about 20 minutes there and 20 minutes back... though rush hour can inflate these times to anywhere from 40 to 60 minutes depending on the day. Winnipeg has some of the most terribly maintained city streets I've seen in Canada... and this definitely complicates matters a great deal.

In all... to the budget traveler, I would have to recommend this hotel whole-heartedly!!

Picked this hotel because I had to attend a ceremony at the University. From the hotel its within distance so its very convenient. The hotel is family ran by Korean, overall its clean and well run. The breakfast is simple but sufficient. Make sure you ask for the room at the back away from the main road facing the front, much quieter at the back. I asked to change and had no issues. There are several restaurants close by, the Korean restaurant is quite nice, worth trying

The place was very clean and quiet, I had a room on the main floor at the back. The continental breakfast was in a cute corner very well organized with seating by the window. It was fairly plain and simple, but had all that was needed and reflected on its size and price. I would recommend the Queen Bee to anyone needing a nice place to spend a night!
