This was our second time staying here, as our first was fabulous. Husband was needed for a work thing, and we assumed this would be one of the better choices for service and cleanliness. I had called a day or two earlier to see what to expect with pandemic procedures. Pool to be open, no buffet just a bag for breakfast, and minimal entry into rooms from staff.
Parking lot was fairly full. Sanitizer at entrance. Check in was quick and polite. Elevator was dirty. Several people gathered in chairs in the lobby. Staff cleaning floor wearing masks.
Stayed in room 241. Room looked clean. Fridge could use a wipe down. The bathroom sink and soap tray had facial hair trimmings in them. The wall in the living room appears to be missing a larger framed print. There were what can be assumed to be knife marks in two walls. So I’m guessing a party gone wrong one evening. My husband did let the front desk know of the wall issues as we didn’t want to get stuck with a bill for the damage, the agent was apologetic and offered to move us but we said that was fine. The agent seemed to think due to staff shortages they haven’t been able to address maintenance issues which we understand, but I’d suggest blocking off that room until it’s addressed as a Marriott shouldn’t be rented at that state. Room was quiet over night and air conditioning worked well. We weren’t comfortable using the pool given covid. The breakfast was a disappointment, an apple, water, yogurt, blueberry nutrigrain. So we went out to eat after. Maybe pastries, or an assortment of fruit and nutrigrain bars would be better. The agent at the front offered us coffee, but neglected to clean there hands in anyway before hand, even though she was using her phone before.
It wasn’t a terrible stay by any means, but I know the Marriott is capable of better. Next time we’re in the city we will be staying at another hotel at least until the pandemic is dealt with

The suites are great. Very spacious. Clean. Great amenities for a lengthy stay. My floor was quiet and I could not hear noises from other rooms at all. Beds are comfy. All of the staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a grab and go (Covid related I am assuming as their is quite a large dining area that is closed). As good of options as possible to take back to your room as one could expect I would say. One suggestion would be to add bread as an option as well.

The one big downside to my stay was, the security presence was alarming. I figured out why after the last three nights. My room was facing the parking lot and another hotel. Throughout the night and into the morning there is constant yelling, flighting swearing and screaming from other hotel guests lingering around outside. I think the security folks are doing their best by being a presence but it’s not enough to prevent the constant disruption. I’m going to try moving “across the hall” to the other side of the hotel, assuming it will be better as i won’t be facing the hotel parking lot.
Aside from this issue, the hotel is pretty darn perfect. Thus why I gave it 4 stars. Unfortunately, the constant sleep interruptions is a major issue.

I was greet at the front desk with friendly hello and a free bottle of water and a bag of chocolates The front desk serve both hotels Fairfield and Residence Inn .The top floor room was an upgrade from what I had booked. Looking out my window I had a clear view of the Golden Boy which is 4.1 km away. The James A Richardson airport is 2.7 km away. The hotel was very clean and in excellent condition.

There was small clean fitness room. And laundry room had several machine. The bar that served the hotel had closed. For the free breakfast in both hotels it was serve on several banquets table in the hotel lobby. There was tea and coffee drink boxes, numerous bagels, assorted muffin, waffles etc
.
The hotel is next door to major department stores. And plenty of diverse restaurants are in the neighborhood. There was no restaurants in the hotel. But there a small market with packed snacks

Never have I been more disappointed in a Marriott hotel. We should have realized our area upon checking where neither of the employees helping us for properly wearing masks. In fact, I don’t think we saw a single other person wearing a mask in the entire hotel. Not staff, or guests. It was my understanding that masks were mandatory on any Marriott property, and that simply is not the case here.
The common areas, lobby, and hallways were filthy. Full garbage bags piled beside the cans in the hallway, pizza boxes, empty liquor bottles and take out garbage outside many of the rooms when we arrived around 4pm, and still there when we checked out the next day.
So. Many. Kids.
Unsupervised, absolutely EVERYWHERE. Playing tag in the halls, running, yelling, jumping around all night, skateboarding and bike riding in the lobby and down the halls no parents in sight, staff was no help.
The noise continued all night, nobody answered our repeated calls to the front desk.
On check in, the pool area was littered with garbage, used Kleenexes, and food, with some of the same actually floating in the pool. Still in the same condition the following morning. I guess the “self serve” sanitizer and (empty) rolls of paper towel are meant to substitute for a proper cleaning?
Even without a global pandemic, this level of filth would be worrisome, but coupled with the current state of things, and the fact that nobody here is practising social distancing or wearing masks, we could not check out and switch hotels fast enough.

If I could have given it zero stars I would have.

I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels all over Winnipeg and this has been the most terrible stay I’ve ever experienced in my life. When I arrived I told them my grandparent couldn’t walk far they decided to put us in a very far room and the front desk staff said she can’t ask guests to move their vehicles after I asked where to park to be close to a door by the room. I should’ve left at this point. They moved us rooms after the 3rd night because the bathroom door didn’t lock. The housekeeping staff barely cleaned and never left clean towels. On one day they left no sheets for a bed! My sons air pods also went missing from the room after they cleaned, he always knows where they are and is really responsible. I asked them a few times to check lost and found or ask house keeping and they kept saying housekeeping would call, no one ever called me. The front desk staff were completely rude after I said my room MIGHT be paid for by a First Nation agency, they told the manager they had a payment problem when I had a $900 hold on my credit card for the stay. I stayed on a medical rate and they requested my medical appointment papers 3 times stating they lost one and one member even told me I couldn’t stay anymore after that day for not handing in my medical appointment paper. I spoke to the manager and he is very nice but I never got an apology or anything from this hotel. I’m usually very understanding and rarely complain because I work in health care and also worked in a hotel before so I know how it is but this stay was awful and there’s no excuses for the way I was treated.

Stayed here for three nights in November, just my daughter and I. It's a clean, new hotel. I was upgraded from a studio suite to a one-bedroom suite, which was great. They were even offering a grab bag contest where you could win small items or points, which was also great. The room was spacious and clean, with a kitchen area, living area, dining room table, separate bedroom, and a big bathroom. We stayed in a room at the end of the building, so we had a window that faced south in the living area. It is a busy hotel, sharing common areas with the Fairfield Inn on the other side of the building. Breakfast was great, with plenty of areas to sit even when it was busy in the mornings. I enjoyed having the Winnipeg Free Press complimentary in the lobby. The pool area was big and wonderful, perfect for my four-year-old daughter, with some variety in the different areas. The slide was fast! I don't usually swim, but it was fun to be in the pool with her and have fun with her. Parking is limited but I never had a problem finding parking. We used the shuttle to get to Bell MTS Place for a Moose game. When we couldn't get the shuttle back right away after the game we had dinner and waited. When the shuttle was freed up earlier than expected, they called me and let me know they could pick us up earlier than they originally had said. It was perfect as we were just finishing dinner. I always enjoy having Spokane channels on the television as well, just an added bonus. There is shopping and a few restaurants within walking distance from the hotel as well.

The hotel was nice and the rooms were large (King room with living and kitchen).
However, we stayed at the residence inn twice in a two week period. The first time the room had a very sour gross smell (like someone had been sick near the bed). After mentioning it to the front desk we got an apology.
The second time we stayed there was a large (kids) hockey group staying at the hotel. This resulted in kids playing hockey in the hallways, running and screaming up and down the hall. We had to call the front desk both nights that we were there, both of which didn’t result in less noise. Traveling with a baby that needs sleep before having a 20 hour trip home, not successful at this property.
Upon check out we did mention our dissatisfaction to which we got the response that they were aware and have had more complaints. I get it’s not the staffs fault but takin action to have them settle down, or offer compensation to guests who weren’t satisfied with there stay would have been the least. Would not recommend staying here due to the nature of their business (large kids groups)

I really like the hotel and the area but the management really have to train their staff . I encounter multiple issues during my month stays .
1. WE ask the staff to pass on to cleaning staff to get our room clean only Mon and Friday . It never happen . We repeatedly told them every week but no success over a month .
2. On the second day i ask one of the front desk staff if they had a Jacuzzi , her answer was “im new , i don’t know . Front desk people should be train to know everything about their hotel .
3. One front desk staff was always on their phone , did not even lift their head to greet us when we enter the hotel .
4. One day i found some cigarette butts and ashes around the Jacuzzi and the water level was extremely low in the Jacuzzi (not touching the skimmer) . I reported to the front desk staff but did not seem too concern .
5.On the first day i brought a light bulb to be replace to the front desk . It took 3 visit to my room to replace . Maintenance never went to front desk to see what kind of bulbs and came back many times to try different one . I recommend him after the second time to go and take a look of the old bulb .
6. One day i set up the smoke alarm accidentally while cooking in my room . I waited 5 minute to see if anyone from front desk would call me but nothing so i call front desk but no answer . I walk downstair after 10 minute and told the front desk about the smoke alarm . He seem very confuse . I ask him if he can reset them , he said it would get maint to come and reset . Went back to my room and wait for Maint but nothing . After 10 minute i call front desk and he could not reach Maint , I went back downstair and i could see the front desk staff trying to reach Maint but nothing so the front desk staff decided to come to my room . He look very confuse to reset . My opinion , he did not know how. Of course he ended removing both smoke alarm from the wall . They sat overnight on my kitchen counter. That was over 45 minute timeline .
7. Found people in the pool area with food many times . Not sure why the staff does not monitor cameras once a while .

We have stayed at this hotel several times and was looking forward to staying there again which we did this past weekend. When we pulled up to check in we were greeted with drunk, stoned guest laying on the bench and sitting on curb outside. Garbage thrown everywhere even all through the shrubs. Then checking in the lobby was congested with a lot of people and no masks. The 2 employees that checked me in also did not where masks. So this hotel is definely not following Covid protocol. Through out our stay it just got worse. We could not even go out or come into the hotel without seeing strung out guest hanging around the exit areas and trying to bum cigarettes and making comments to us. I’m a smoker and I was to afraid to go out and have a smoke. And the outside sitting area with tables was trashed. There was the same garbage that was thrown in a stairwell at the Ellice exit door that was there on Friday and was still there Sunday. And on Sunday when checking out at 730 am thesame guests were still outside. 2 were passed out and the rest were so out of it they could hardly function. My husband went to bring some of our bags to the car got very nervous cause 1 guy was shooting up right behind our truck. I could go on and on as how disqusted we are and cannot believe that a Marriot would allow this to go on. And we were not the only guests that felt the same way. We talked to some of them during our stay. We will never ever stay there again and we will make sure that this hotel will never get recommended. I’m still so upset and disgusted just thinking about our stay.
on.

We were booked in the Fairfield Inn but were upgraded to the Residence Inn. It was nice to have the larger space and use of a freezer and kitchen. The room was generally good, the bathroom had a really nice large shower, but there were odd marks on the wall by the toilet? The front dest staff were good, but we noticed an unusual mix of guests, and got the feel that the hotel is being used for evacuees or something. Breakfast was overrun with people eating huge plates of food as if it was their only meal of the day - which maybe it was?! I realise it's good that they are being helped, but it made trying to eat there an unpleasant crowded experience both mornings we were there.
