Stayed here for a little “stay-cation” Amazing customer service!! The staff were so friendly and the rooms are really nice, updated and very, very clean. Highly recommend!!! We will definitely be back!
My husband and I and two friends booked at the hotel for Feb 14-16. I booked online, they booked through the hotel. We decided to come in a day early and we shared a room. When we got there we realized our friends had booked the deluxe room and we had the premium room and we were paying the same price. We asked at the front desk if my friends could be upgraded and pay the same price as us. The lady at the desk was very rude and said they couldn’t because they didn’t book online. I asked if we could cancel the reservation and rebook and she said sure but we’re charging for the deluxe room too. So they decided to pay the upgrade fee of $30 extra per night. When I went to check in to my room later that day the same lady in a VERY loud voice said “I don’t know who the pot smokers are but we had to shut down the room for tonight to air it out. You could be charged for that” First off we did NOT smoke in the room. We went outside and came back in. If our clothes had an odour on it, it wouldn’t have been enough to have to shut down the room. Second, there was other people in the lobby when she yelled this at us which I found extremely unprofessional. Marijuana is legal. We did not smoke in the room. There would be no difference then lingering cigarette smell on clothes or stale beer cans sitting on the dresser. The hotel also clears there parking lot of snow with a loader at 3am. It is EXTREMELY loud and the back up beepers keep you awake until they are finished. This happened 2 out of the 3 night we were there. The beds do not have bed covers, my top cover had stains all over it, and breakfast service was terrible. The hot tub also does not work properly. The jets do not work at all and it’s feels more like a bath water then a hot tub. I gave them 1 star on the review because I was unable to give zero. We’ve stayed here lots and we’ve never had an experience like this one. I am extremely disappointed and more than likely will not book here again.…
My son and I have stayed 4 plus times at Viscount Gort. He is a special needs young man requiring multiple surgeries. Each time from September 2021 to February 2022, Jodi Shuster and Joel have helped us with dignity. Recently snaptravel was not going to allow us to cancel our latest booking Fe 13th to the 15, 2022 due to covid related issues. Jodi took it upon herself and took on Expedia to ensure we got a full refund as Thomas surgery Feb 14th was cancelled. She was prompt, gracious, and helped us immensely. I would have been charged 250 dollars without her help. She tried over 2 days to get action with snaptravel. She went above and beyond her job to help us! Joel helped us before Feb 13 with booking extra days. Our surgeon cancelled my sons surgery. I would highly reccomend Viscount Gort to stay, they have incredible staff! When we stayed in December the power went out and front desk staff took us in the freight elevator so we could safely get to our room as my son is losing his vision. The restaurant and the bar food and staff are exemlary as well. The service is excellent, food so good and the rooms so clean. Front staff called cabs for us in a blizzard so we could get to the hospital in time for December's surgery. I will now in future book direcy with the hotel, they match any on line deals, and their friendly staff, clean rooms with no carpet are lovely, and so inviting after spending 12 hours at a hospital. I give them a 15 out of 10! Thank you Jodi, Joel and Front desk clerk Athena ! God bless you all!…
My family often has to come into Winnipeg for appointments and we have been booking at the Viscount our past few trips and will not be booking elsewhere again! We are greeted by great staff, an extremely clean building (from COVID sanitizing, to entrance floors, hotel rooms, etc.). The rooms are always clean and offer enough space for us to enjoy comfortably. The pool area (my daughter's favourite part) is fabulous. There is a hot tub, a kid's pool, and a swimming pool with a water slide that we love to spend time at. The location is great for us, with everything we need to access nearby. We also enjoy (especially in the winter months) a covered parking lot. Would highly recommend this hotel for visitors!
Great place to stay with excellent staff! Front desk very welcoming (Joel I think was his name). The lounge staff (Chris and his server) make you feel like family. It was great to relax in the hot tub while being stranded due to blizzard. Rooms are clean with great beds. Definitely will return!!
We live in the city but really wanted a bit of a staycation. We stayed for the first time early January, and loved it so much that we booked again this past weekend, and have plans for another visit end of Feb with some family. My daughter and her cousins LOVED the bunkbed room of the family suite. Overall the rooms were awesome, pool and waterslide were awesome, breakfast buffet was awesome, but most of all, the staff was awesome. We felt so taken care of, which feels extra rare these days. Special thanks to Front Desk Manager, Jodi Shuster! She is beyond wonderful. We highly recommend!
The Gort is classic Winnipeg. We were back visiting family and friends. The Gort was conveniently located, very comfortable and clean. The suite we had had all the amenities and staff was exceptionally friendly. Thank you Jodie for a great stay
Front desk is extremely disrespectful. I got the vibes that they didn’t like their job. Extremely rude and couldn’t be bothered to be there other than for the cheques. I hope the manager sees this and talks to the staff. Hotels are supposed to be welcoming and comfortable. Extremely disappointed, and unsatisfied.
We took our family to the Viscount for a quick “staycation”. Our 4 kids had so much fun! The staff were very friendly and reassured me that all precautions were being taken to ensure my family was safe (COVID) during our stay. Booking time in the hotels pool was easy for us and this allowed us to use the facilities without having to be worried about too many people in the public area. The manager Jodi at the front desk was super helpful to help us find the perfect room to accommodate my family of six. My kids loved the bunk beds and their own tv in the kids suite she reserved for us. Now we have to get bunk beds at home! We will definitely be back! Thank you!!!
They turned my 70 year old mother after I booked a room for her. She needed a room for a night as the place where she was living had become unavailable. After I booked her room, they took my money, but during check in, they turned her out and said that they can't check her in. They were so rude that they refused to explain why, citing COVID-19 and that they only allow emergency stay ins. This was an emergency situation, but they refused to listen and just behaved very badly. I am not sure how this hotel is in the hospitality business as the person I spoke to on the phone sure didn't know what customer service meant.
