The Fairmont Winnipeg receives accolades for its prime location, near cultural hotspots and downtown amenities, which guests frequently highlight as a highlight of their stay. Cleanliness is also commended, with the hotel maintaining tidy rooms and facilities. However, opinions on service are divided, with reports of both attentive staff and lapses in efficiency.
The value proposition of the hotel is under scrutiny, as several guests question the justification of high costs given the outdated rooms and additional fees. The atmosphere of the hotel evokes mixed reactions, some appreciating modern touches, while others find the decor dated and the environment noisy.

Visiting family in Manitoba. Took a couple of days of relaxation in Winnipeg on the Fairmont Gold Floor and a trip to the nearby Thermea Nordik Spa. 19 Floor view of Portage and Main. The highlight was the excellent care by the Team at Gold Reception and Lounge. Thanks in particular to Aarsh and Noah. Housekeeping was also excellent and when a room visit overlapped with servicing, she personally notified us in the lounge when our servicing of our room was completed. Could not be happier.

I always wanted to know what the Fairmont was all about, since for the accomodations, at least on paper, you can get a better deal at other hotels.
I was not disappointed. Not only were linen and toiletry of a higher quality, and robes were a nice touch, how I was treated made a world of difference.
Concierge made the stay extra special by tailoring my bedroom to my needs, Bernard made sure I had a quieter room, since I had a baby, but also remembered I was there for an exam.
Maria helped us navigate the city better and they made sure at the restaurant the baby was comfortable and entertained.

The hotel was clean and the staff were amazing. The pool provided hours of relaxation. The beds were comfortable and you can tell the room preparation crews took pride in their work because of how amazing the room looked upon their daily visits.

Room Condition: Outdated furnishings and carpets showing significant wear Inoperable mini-fridge Visible mold in shower HVAC system was barely adequate to maintain a comfortable temperature Noisy environment (both street noise and hallway disturbances) Amenities: No complimentary water in room Extra charge for WiFi in 2024 (unexpected and disappointing) A fan was available in the closet, which provided some relief Staff Interaction: Pleasant and helpful when approached Specific Issues: Room Comfort: The dated condition of the room significantly impacted overall comfort and enjoyment of stay. Cleanliness Concerns: Presence of mold in shower raises serious hygiene questions. Noise Levels: Poor sound insulation affected sleep quality and relaxation. HVAC Performance: The HVAC system struggled to maintain a comfortable environment, leading to discomfort during the stay. Basic Amenities: Lack of functioning mini-fridge and complimentary water was inconvenient. Additional Charges: Unexpected WiFi fees felt outdated for modern hospitality standards. Positive Note: Staff were courteous and responsive when assistance was required.

The Fairmont Winnipeg is a great disappointment and does not live up to the Fairmont brand. It starts with the premises; the rooms are dated and no longer in good shape. The wall paper was peeling off the wall in the bathroom and the faucet barely works. The carpet was dingy and stained. The drapes were . . . yuck; I don't know what to say about the drapes. The room was also exceptionally hot (and I am freezing all the time) even after turning the temperature way down; the fan then was very noisy all night. I was there for work and, after arriving late at night, a colleague checked into his room and when he got in, the tv was on which was odd since it wasn't just a standard hotel welcome message. He then noticed the sheets were all rumpled. Suddenly a startled voice was like "Helllllooooo??" My colleague apologized profusely and promptly took his leave. Back downstairs, the front desk staff were hardly even phased that they had given him an already rented room. They sent him up to a new room. He finally settled in and went to turn on his tv only to find there was no remote. He called down to the front desk and they told him that they would bring one up the next day. He was checking out the next day. I understand the staff and manager may not have control over the aging rooms, but in those situations you control the controlables. They do not. Even something as simple as having a bottle of water in the room would have made a huge difference. Nothing. The Delta, the Fort Garry, and the Inn at the Forks, are all much better bets for your downtown Winnipeg stay. We had drinks at the hotel bar; the service was better there but everything else was mediocre.

Excellent service throughout the stay. Lovely staff. Nice, clean pool - also a sauna. When our room was cleaned, they noticed that we needed an extra suitcase stand and put one in our room for us. Attention to details like this are appreciated.

Even though I did the online check in the process of just getting my key when I got there was painful and took almost 30 minutes. Only one person was working at the front desk and they made no attempt to get more staff to assist with the line up. I was told when I checked in that my parking was include but when I checked out I was told it was not and I had to pay $14 for less than 24 hrs of parking. The room was nice enough but I'm pretty sure there was blood on the back of the bathroom door. Given that they only offer every 3rd day room cleaning I'm guessing it's a rushed process and things get overlooked. Also the fridge was impossible to open, it was a very strange thing.

While this hotel is incredibly nice, you're pretty much forced to choose the Valet parking which is fine, it's an extra $7 or so. The valet parking attendants were very friendly.
However, the worst part of it all was the temperature in our room. It was a very hot day, but the room was humid, muggy, and the air conditioning wasn't doing anything. No matter what, the room wouldn't cool off. We couldn't even sleep with a blanket at night it was so hot. I talked to the front desk about the temperature and they said they would send a tech. There was no tech for an hour. I called the front desk again and the tech showed up about 5 minutes later and checked the air conditioning and said it was fine. They brought by another fan, but it still made for a terrible nights sleep. I wouldn't stay at this hotel in the summer ever again.

As a result of an unexpected layover in Winnipeg we required a hotel for the night. Instead of choosing a hotel near the airport, we booked with the Fairmont based on our wonderful experiences with the Gold level service. Unfortunately, Fairmont Winnipeg was a huge disappointment. The room was dated and not clean - particularly the bathroom. We took photos of the dirt and damage to the room. We requested a cot for our son. When delivered, we were asked if we wanted to make the bed ourself. The Gold lounge was underwhelming, to say the least. By 6:00 pm, the canapés were completely picked over and never refreshed. There were no plates available. We noted that the meat and cheese plates were “sweating” as they were not properly chilled and the cheesecake “pops” were melting. The ice bucket containing beer was simply water, with one bottle of imported beer floating in the bottom. When my husband requested more, he was offered a can of warm, American beer. This hotel cannot compare with other Fairmont properties in which we have stayed and we would definitely avoid it in the future.

Room AC was noisy, I did not have time to report it, as I was busy daily with meetings and was too tired when I got back.
The second day after check-in, the water was super dirty following some night water shut down for maintenance, one would expect that thorough flushing of the domestic water system takes place following this kind of work, obviously it did not happen and hotel guests were left to deal with the black water the following morning! At least place a couple of bottles of water in the rooms for guests to use following this! Not even an apology letter from the management? Really?
Ice room next to my room 723, was always open and the machine is under repair, looks quite neglected if you ask me, and that was the first thing I would see each morning. At least keep the door closed if there is work taking place!
Breakfast choices were pretty limited, orange juice was not fresh, would be a good idea to add some fresh juices to the bfast menu. Berries did not look fresh and had no taste.
Not cleaning the room for 4 days seems like a stretch, with COVID I get it, but we are now past COVID and we are paying the same rates. We deserve that the rooms be cleaned, not asking for a turndown services here, just the daily cleaning and refreshing of the towels, etc. Also, these cleaning ladies need work, laying them off and letting your guests stay with no cleaning their entire stay is not at all a good idea, if you need to lay off people, start with some managers not with personnel that need their jobs the most !!
Hotel looks extremely tired, hardly a 3 star not 4. Quite a disappointing experience !
