After a 7.5 drive from T-BAY it was a good break from the road and vehicle for the family. I would say for the price and staying for the night only it definitely worth it and I will be back for sure.
Staff was cleaning the snow in front of our room at 6am and snowing hard that night so good to step out of the room to warm up the vehicle and not step into a foot of snow right away. Johnny
However the hotel was very low rent looking and things were super dirty in the room. The tub and sink were dirty when we arrived. The soap tray was discussing!!!!!!🤮 The shower wall was cracked and flaking in the shower while you used it. So stepping on chipped tile wasn’t my idea of luxury. The bathroom wall paper was falling off as well. The sink had someone else’s toothpaste left over in and around it. The standard for cleanliness was pathetic. The bed had dirt in/on the blankets and the blankets, towels and pillow cases looked like rejects from Wyndham‘s better hotels. I would never stay here again. We always stay at Wyndham hotels but I think we will need to rethink that in the future. This hotel was very disappointing. The breakfast was decent but not anywhere near continental you’re only allowed one breakfast option off the menu. So when I called to book that should have been said to me when I asked about the continental breakfast. Another thing that adds to my 1 is the soap and coffee offered in your room are fantastic. I was supplied dove soap and shampoo and conditioner and coffee pods and Tea in the room. The cups to use were gross because the bags were ripped so I used my own. After I told the front desk the room was dirty they sent a house keeper in the morning and none of the concerns were fixed the sink still had toothpaste around it and the soap tray was still gross and the shower was still left dirty. So I no longer complained and bought Lysol wipes and cleaned it myself. The sheets were also not changed and left dirty. I always thought Wyndham hotels had pretty high standards but this hotel definitely didn’t measure up to my standards and expectations of a romantic kid free weekend in the city with my husband. The cleanliness is definitely an issue and a major concern. I would also say this hotel should get new linens and stop using Wyndham‘s scraps from the better hotels.
Gave one star because the poor lady behind the counter was kind and helped me get out of my reservation quickly so I could leave.
Upon checking in, we were greeted by Austin at the front desk. He got us set up rather quickly and efficiently, which is not something I can say about most other hotels or inns that we have stayed at in the past, not to mention his friendly and welcoming demeanor which he maintained every time we interacted with him. We even ordered breakfast to our room twice, and despite how busy they obviously were, the food arrived quickly and was delivered by Austin (again with a big smile and a friendly greeting). The food was good too, which again I can’t say about many other establishments.
We had dinner here one evening with some family and the staff were very accommodating, since we had our puppy with us. The GM, Brandon, was completely welcoming and understanding of the situation, and told us some stories about his dog while we spoke. The food was absolutely delicious, the portions were far from lacking, and the price was very reasonable. We even got a few bottles of their own sauces because we liked them so much! We were served by the Bar Manager, Tim, and he exemplified great service. He tried to play it off like he was doing the bare minimum, but he was efficient and charming. He tried to refuse a tip, but we couldn’t leave without showing our appreciation for his service that night.
The room itself was nice and clean with all the basic amenities, and most importantly the AC was a powerhouse, especially since our stay was in the middle of a heat wave! We declined the daily housekeeping since we were only staying a few days and kept things pretty tidy but based on how the room looked when we arrived, we can say with confidence that they are competent and maintain a high standard.
We loved our stay, it took a lot of stress off our travel, and when we inevitably come through again, we are most certainly going to be staying at this Howard Johnson again.
Thank you for everything!

Both the sports bar and the club have great food. Hatricks, the sports bar, had wings on special the night we went and the menu prices were good. We had a great time at both places. There was no cover charge for the club, the Basement, but the Tapas were a bit pricey but we still enjoyed the Saturday night comedy show 😊. We will stay at the Howard Johnson whenever we come to Winnipeg.
Loud HVAC in the room. Ice frozen inside door frame melted everywhere. Tight parking right outside room. Slamming doors and stomping around shaking floor from 9pm to 2am. Lumpy Pillow. Toilet kept running. After mentioning these concerns to the manager, they were nice enough to offer a partial refund (only partial since I stuck it out the whole night).
On the road for 6 weeks and this was the only place where I had issues with being woken by other guests and felt concerned for security and my valuables. Spend more and go elsewhere if you intend to get rest, especially on a Friday night.
