Considering the location and size of the hotel it was the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in. Excellent service from staff. Had to pay for parking but it was secure parking. It was very convenient to have the coffee shop and restaurants located in the hotel. Food was delicious. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Only drawback was the television programming. Being attached to the hospital was a blessing. I believe my husband recovered faster just being in a comfortable room and not having to drive anywhere. Being able to walk to and from the hospital without even having to put on a jacket was a nice bonus. Overall the stay (room bound due to medical procedure) was worth it.

Stayed for a week at the end of December and my experience was great, just like previous visits. Shuttle service to and from the airport was on time. There's access to the university gym without having to go outside in the cold. Staff have been great and very helpful.

The front desk staff were very nice and helpful.
I picked this hotel because my spouse had to be at the hospital for 5:30am on the day of his surgery.

The pillows and beds were o.k

The parking a horrible mess, (you have to fight a bunch of taxis for the 2 spots you can park in, unload your vehicle, run your stuff up to your room then go back to your vehicle and drive across the street to the parkade. There are a lot of places you aren't allowed to stop to unload.)

My only real complaint is - the room was NOT clean. I had requested a room with a bath tub because I have a bad back and often need to soak. When I went to check in, the lady was like, "we just don't have a room ready for you yet" because they made some mistake and had me booked into a room with no tub. But in about 3 minutes she said they did. I hear her ask over the walkie-talkie "it's clean and ready?" and they said yes.
It had a sign on the door that said "certified clean" but later that day, as I got out of the tub I noticed dust on the bathroom floor. If they really had no room available for me, than it wasn't dust from not being used. The lamp between beds was obviously dusty so how is that clean when there's a pandemic? I'm sure that light was not sanitized. Anyway, I was too exhausted to try to move and figured too late now, if the person before me had COVID I'm already exposed to the germs.
The next day, as I straightened the bed, I found 2 gross satins on the blanket. The stains were like... hard. Like dried juice or food. I feel positive that blanket wasn't washed. Maybe hotels don't wash blankets between uses?

If you are looking for a well priced, new, clean and modern, conveniently located Winnipeg hotel, this certainly qualifies. Even if you are not there because of the Health Sciences Centre, you can enjoy the location which is not far from Portage and Main, with convenient parking in the parkade that is immediately across the street. The parking charge is only 10.50/day, which is less expensive than many Winnipeg hotels who often do not prominently mention parking rates that can get excessive. There is a Starbucks in the hotel, as well as at least one other restaurant. Above all, the hotel was quiet and respectable in every way.

Dear Thunderbaygirl, Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to write a review of our hotel! We very much appreciate this. You are right, location wise we are walking distance to the exchange district which during this time of year always has events going on day and night, Portage and Main is about a 5 min drive or a 20 min walk, which means the Forks is about 10 minute drive from us. We are close to major shopping either at City Place or Polo Park, the MTS Centre, the Winnipeg Convention Centre, all which makes us a great hotel choice even if HSC is not your primary reason for being in Winnipeg. Yes we have the Starbucks which is open 24 hours a day, but we have not only 1 full serve restaurant but 2. We have our Aaltos Garden Cafe on the second floor and our 'I Bistro Mediterreanean Restaurant on the Main floor beside Starbucks. Being a downtown hotel we definately do have cheap parking rates which gives you a transponder so that you have in and out access to come and go as you please for the one low nightly rate. For those flying in we do have a complimentary Airport Shuttle which can pick you up and return you to the airport upon your departure. Hopefully the next time you are in Winnipeg, you think of us for your guest room needs. Welcome to the Canad Family and should there be anything I can do for you, please feel free to contact me directly. Thanks again, Chrissy Bohemier, Sales and Catering Manager, Canad Inns Destination Centre Health Sciences Centre.

Connected to Winnipeg's Health Science Centre this Canad Inns is a new hotel that is of extreme benefit to those receiving care at HSC. The have a very good medical rate for guests and their rack rates are well worth the price given the quality, amenities and comfort provided in each room. The facility has 2 on site restaurants while a number of other quick serve eateries are located in the HSC as well as a convenience store, flower shop and pharmacy. You can be assured of a very quiet rest. The Inn also provides a day rate for quests based on room availability. Staff are extremely courteous and efficient. Like all Canad Inns this hotel is amongst the top tier hotels in Winnipeg.

My son is in Winnipeg for several months on some work related training and staying at this same hotel. While there, he experienced some health related problems and needed to be taken to the hospital (which is attached). I flew out to check on him, so I decided to stay at this hotel.

Initial appearances once inside are okay. The lobby is very plain and empty. The rooms are neat, tidy and clean, and relatively all the same (just with different bed configurations). Housekeeping was very late in getting to my room each day (sometimes not until 4'ish), so several times I told them to just not bother. Food choices are really limited in that there is a restaurant that is open for breakfast through dinner (2nd fl.) every day, and one in the lobby area, which I only saw open a couple of times in my 4 days there. If you are in need of a quick snack and/or coffee, then there is a Starbucks.

The area of the hotel is a different story. One of the days, I decided that while my son was resting, I would take a walk around the city. I asked the front desk about this and he said it wasn't really a good option. He said it really wasn't that safe for me to walk too many places, and if I did venture out, that I shouldn't take a purse or any belongings with me - how does one venture out with no belongings??

The rooms were rather expensive I thought for the location, the hotel itself and amenities offered.

All in all, the hotel room was ok, but I would never chose to visit the city and/or this particular part of the city again if I didn't need to.

Nice room - spacious and clean. So handy to the health Science. Only negative comments is the food at a Altos restaurant it was by far the worst buffet we have ever had we were sorry the bistro was closed on Sundays - looked much nicer place to eat. The food was dry and tasteless. Fruit flies in the fruit. Poor service

I had a week long business at the faculty of dentistry and after doing some research I chose this hotel to stay at.

After staying there for a week, almost everything exceeded my expectations. Here are the Pros and the Cons;

Pros:
1. Friendly and helpful staff
2. On site 24/7 Starbucks
3. 2 restaurants with decent food, reasonable prices and nice portions
4. Connected to the HSC (the hospital and University of Manitoba health care traing facilities i.e. faculty of medicine, dentistry, nursing, etc.) via hallways from inside the hotel, so you don't even need to step outside if any of the above would be your destination.
5. Secure elevator; because it is connected to the hospital, everyone can reach the hotel elevator, but you can only use it if you have a room card.
6. Decent gym for basic work out
7. Amazingly clean and comfy room

Cons:
The internet connection can be improved

All in all, if you need / have to be at the Health Sciences Centre, I would 100% recommend this place to stay at. But if you don't have anything to do at the HSC, there is not much around to do.

Answer from Canad Inns H
Hi, You can park front of the hotel to unload your stuff and do the check-in process. Once we are done with check-in then you can go to park across the street in William Parkade. If you don't have lots of stuff to unload you can park first and do the check-in after. Once you enter the parking lot at the entrance you will get parking ticket. please make sure to bring the parking ticked with you. So, whenever you need to leave the parking lot you have to stop by at the front desk to Validate the parking ticket.

I think there is a reduced rate if there for medical reasons. Parkade is right across the street. Best bet would be to contact the hotel for details. The staff there are great and should be able to answer your question.
