Detailed Reviews
On this visit to Winnipeg, we were looking to stay downtown, somewhere new and it didn't matter if the hotel had a pool/spa. The Alt looked good from the pics and reviews, and the pricing was decent as well.
The hotel was in very nice condition and had good security, in that you needed your room card to get into the hotel, as well as to your floor in the elevator. There is a parking garage on the same block, with a skyway to the hotel which is very convenient - I believe I paid $21 for each night for parking and you could come & go during that time. Check-in first and then get the parking card from the front desk, then it will be charged to your room.
The beds were comfortable and the room is fairly minimal, which fits the minimal vibe of the hotel. It must be an energy efficiency thing, but you need to insert your room key into a slot on the wall for the lights to work. While I'm not there to watch TV, it would have been nice if they had a better channel selection, specifically movie channels. There any many channels but they are mostly news, sports and some misc channels. You do have the ability to Chromecast, so we did watch Netflix one night.
Conveniently located adjacent to the hotel are Tim Hortons (though it was closed Sat & Sun for some reason?), Browns Socialhouse and the Merchant Kitchen. We ate at Browns on Friday night and it was very good all around. The hotel is 1/2 block from the NHL arena, so if in town for a game, this is likely a good place to stay.

I stayed at the Alt for four nights during a business trip to Winnipeg in May. The room and all common areas were clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff was exceptionally friendly, and the decor was tasteful and fun. The rainfall shower head was also a nice touch—and the water pressure was perfect. We ate at one of the adjacent restaurants, The Merchant Kitchen, and the food was excellent. I was hoping I’d have the opportunity/excuse to go back and/or try out the room delivery option from them, but alas. Next trip!
This hotel is located in a bustling, noisy part of town, so a bit of ambient noise from the city is to be expected (sirens, etc). The hotel recognizes this and provides earplugs on the bedside table. I didn’t use them and slept just fine, but I thought it was a thoughtful amenity anyway.
Looking forward to my next stay at the Alt Winnipeg!

Stylish. Well thought out. Comfortable. Clean and great staff. What’s not to like. I will return for sure and won’t even check out other hotels in Winnipeg. This one is a keeper. I think think this is the only chain of hotels where I always feel that they have done their research to ensure you are comfortable.

I had already stayed in Germain hotels for business. And that's what it is: a hotel dedicated above all to a business clientele. The One Bed corner room is designed for a single person and not a couple. Only one bedside table, one armchair and a bathroom with non-soundproofed doors. The corner room does not bring more space since the only difference is a long space before accessing the room. The advantage is no corridor noises and probably a nicer view than ordinary rooms. Due to sanitary measures, we had breakfast in the room: one installed at the work table and the other sitting on the bed using the ironing board as a table!

Hello, we appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you did not have the best experience with the size of the room. Our rooms are definitely designed to provide the essentials to our guests, with a modern and boutique elements to it! I can suggest our new room type to you, our Spacious Queen with the Portage view comes with an additional cozy seating area. Our lobby area also provides some great space and a good atmosphere for eating as well, and is cleaned with the highest standards multiple times a day. Nonetheless, we thank you for staying with us and supporting an industry rebuilding!

A quick note about our recent experience at the venue for my daughter's party—it was fantastic! The place itself is lovely, with plenty of natural sunlight streaming in, which really added a special touch to the whole setup. Plus, the space was spotless, which made everything feel even more inviting.
But what really made the day extra special was the awesome staff, Reen, Eejay and the rest of the Alt Hotel Staff. They were so helpful and accommodating, taking care of all our questions and requests with a smile. Huge thanks to them for making everything run so smoothly. Definitely looking forward to our next visit!

I stayed two nights and the experience was a pleasant one. The cleanliness is excellent, the atmosphere and decoration provide a quality environment. The customer service is good and the employees look for ways to make your stay better. Regarding the parking, there is a building right behind so it is not a problem to find parking. You have to pay for it but as a guest they give you a card that facilitates access to the hotel. The only detail that in my opinion is not the best is the bar, it is extra small (maybe a few three chairs). The bartender staff is very friendly, but if you are looking for a place to have some drinks in the hotel you will not find it. In general it was a nice and pleasant experience so personally I would return.

The hotel is located in downtown Winnipeg and is literally a few steps from a couple of great restaurants and bars. The room has all of the necessary creature comforts and the bedding and pillows were very comfortable and cozy. The Nespresso coffee machine makes a great morning coffee or late night finish off depending on your preference. There is a small fridge to keep drinks or left overs cold.

Hotel was in a prime location across from the Canada Life Centre. Outward and lobby appearance was clean and neat. Our room was less than that. Spots in the walls by light switches and layers of dust in all the corners me wonder how well the rest was cleaned.
But the most disappointing thing was the price we were quoted was not the price they made us pay upon check in. While making the reservation I asked if they had govt rates and was told yes. I said the only ID was a card stating I was a MGEU member. You can only get an MGEU card by being a Province of Manitoba employee. I was told to just present it upon check in and the govt rate would apply. I tried to explain that govt employee clerks don’t get anything more to prove they are employed with govt…I asked to see the manager and was told ‘sorry can’t help you…we paid quite a sum more than expected. We won’t be back…ever. Will travel in from the outskirts and stay at the Best Western Plus if we ever attend another event downtown.

Hotel room was very quiet and clean! Lots of room to feel comfortable and relax after travelling. You cannot beat the location if you are taking in a Jets game-it is directly across the street. Would definitely stay here again next time we come to a game!

I have been fortunate enough to use this hotel twice for business meetings. The hotel itself is beautiful; perfectly located downtown with lots of parking and easy access to public transit. The guest rooms are modern, spotlessly clean and have all the perks you could want. Conference services are flawless. It is easy to set up a meeting, the meetings spaces are well-appointed, clean and modern and all of my meeting attendees raved about the location and amenities. The lobby has cool places to sit, a microwave and free coffee, tea, and water for guest use. The best thing about this hotel though is the service. I want to give a special shout-out to Lexter, who works on the meeting room floor. He is a life-saver, and his service puts this hotel above the rest. All the front desk staff are incredible too. When I arrive late at night after a long plane ride, they will offer to order me some food and have it delivered to my room. I will seek out Alt Hotels in other cites to book my meetings. Thank you so much for making my job so easy.

Hi worldtravellers123,
We have an association with Indigo parking which is located directly behind the hotel on Hargrave st and is attached by a sky-walk. You can pay directly with the hotel at $18 for overnight parking which also allows you unlimited access. We advise you come to the hotel reception on Donald St first (there's a waiting bay in front) and check in and we can explain the hotel and the parking process).
Its all dependent on time of the day and traffic, but $30 should be close to the mark.
Fridges are available on request. You can do this prior to arrival by calling the hotel or ask on check in.
Hello Elizabeth B! Thank you very much for thinking of us for your trip this summer. We definitely accept pets at our hotel as we have an entire pet friendly floor. There is a small charge of 30$ per stay for your pet which gives them great amenities such as a memory foam dog bed treats and more! Dogs are most welcome at Alt Hotels. We believe that they are just as entitled to the superior comfort of Alt Winnipeg as anyone. Here are a few guidelines:
• Your dog must stay on leash inside the hotel.
• Your dog is not admitted in these areas: restaurant, breakfast room, fitness room.
• Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs both inside and outside the hotel
Let us know the name of your pet so we can make their welcome extra special. Thank you for your questions and looking forward to welcome you this summer
