Recently, our team at my work were looking to celebrate, but in a relaxed, cozy setting. We approached Job Burns of the Manor and made arrangements for 10 of us to come for the evening. The fireplace was ablaze, holiday decorations up and he served several courses of hors d'oeuvres and nibblies. Wonderful, casual experience! Highly recommend for a business meeting, family or friend gathering at any time of year.
This inn is well located in a residential area but within walking distance to downtown attractions. We stayed in a deluxe king room and it was roomy with a good sized bathroom. Another real bonus is laundry facilities on the same floor as the rooms available for guests to use at no charge! Parking is provided at no extra charge. Breakfast is often made to order. Several common areas to just hang if desired. Pubs and restaurants nearby. Highly recommended.
First off the owner Jobe is a great host. He loves his inn and it shows. The last night we were there we informed Jobe that we were heading out very early in the morning and would not make it to breakfast. No problem he had it packed and waiting in the fridge for us. The inn is in walking distance to all the downtown restaurants. If i were ever to be in St. John again The Mahogany Manor will be where i stay.
This was the perfect place to stay for our one night visit before boarding the ferry to Nova Scotia early the next morning. Job was a gracious host and our one regret was having to miss the excellent breakfast. Our room and bath was very nice. The decor and furnishings on the main floor are elegant. There was easy access to dining within walking distance.
Our room was on the main floor. The window had a fan fixed in the window, and there were voices of people entering the BnB through the evening, that sounded as though they were in our room. The bed was very soft -- back ache in the morning. Bath was OK. Management was very friendly. Morning breakfast was delicious, and set up was nice. Location was very good, with a short walk to several restaurants.
