My partner and I stayed here for one night while in Saint John early September 2021.

The location is great, very close to King's Park and Loyalist Cemetery, as well as the general Uptown area. There is free street parking just outside the inn.

While we did not opt in for breakfast [because we were getting an early start at 0700h], Dorina was still awake and had coffee, juice, and a few cookies put for us to start our day before checking out. You can tell she puts a lot of care and effort into being a good host which is always appreciated.

We stayed in The Rose room, which is a spacious room with a private ensuite bathroom. The bed was comfortable, WiFi seemed good (although we barely used it), the room felt clean.
There is a fridge in the hallway upstairs that is shared by all guests.

Overall I would recommend staying at Tanners Home Inn for the hospitality and location.
However this is not an appropriate place for someone with mobility issues since there are a handful of steep stairs to get in to the house from the street, as well as no elevator to the second floor where the rooms are located.

My wife and I booked this as a treat for our wedding anniversary; we live in the same province. They were just getting things going again after a significant lull due to the COVID crisis. We had the downstairs family room, and it was lovely: the room was spacious and clean, and Dorina and Sebastian were kind, hospitable and friendly. They even dropped off a cheesecake to wish us a happy anniversary after we returned from supper! Breakfast was well-done, with generous portions and more offered. There was a slight misunderstanding on an element of the room, but this was rectified with an unasked-for discount on our room cost. It's worth checking out, and particularly with New Brunswick currently offering some rebate money on to New Brunswickers on tourist stays in-province, this would be a great opportunity. If we were to come again, we'd likely choose an upstairs room instead, though; we did get some street noise in the morning.

My husband and I spent 3 wonderful nights here, in the "Daisy" Room. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Yes, the bathroom was a few steps down the hall, but it was ours exclusively, and it is the largest, most elegant bathroom we've enjoyed in our travels. This historic home is charming, filled with interesting furniture and artwork, but the real charm was with the hosts, Doreena and Sebastian. Breakfast was made to order, and we enjoyed our several conversations with these two. They are such interesting and pleasant people! They gave us lots of good advice and tips on things to do in the area. We'd definitely go back!

The lower-level room has two beds, but the single one is VERY soft. The main room is large. Watch out for the step in the bathroom! The owner was quite friendly and accommodating but overall, it was a bit of a letdown--the room needs some TLC. We got a takeaway breakfast because we had to catch the ferry; breakfast wasn't great, with no protein. Be warned that there is major street construction in the area and parking can be a challenge.

After reviewing the pictures of the B&B we made reservations for one night for the family room. Little did we know that we would be in the BASEMENT where the room is nothing like the pictures posted. It was very dark, dingy and damp. I killed a few bugs and spiders which was very disgusting. The twin room had a terrible musty odor and very dark, The bathtub was horrible and we did not use. They really should not rent this area out until they can improve the conditions. They should state that this is a lower level accommodation. I wish we were able to stay in the beautiful rooms on their website because there have wonderful reviews for them.
Don’t stay until you know for sure where the room is and what it looks like.

Stayed in the lower level room which was dark and dinghy. The "suite" we had with kitchen badly needed updating. The building itself is in a relatively run down area -- street in front was all torn up. Did not feel the Inn was as it was represented on website. Positives were that the hosts were very nice, the location great, and the breakfast was good.

After a shocking stay in Toronto, it was a delight to get to this accommodation. Very welcoming, comfortable room, full of character and just a few minutes walk from downtown. Hosts couldn't be more helpful. We are going back here at the end of our tour.
Highly recommended

Wonderful weekend stay. Sebastian and Doreena were more than hosts as they offer all visitors a genuine friendship. Terrific breakfast and handy location to explore St John. Highly recommend to all.

Location is great, hosts are very friendly and provided good traveling information. They sent us to St-Martins and we also visited the Fundy Parkway. We stayed in the basement rooms. Bed was very comfortable but it was very dated and needs renovations.

Dorina is an incredible host! We had an absolute wonderful time! The breakfasts she prepared were outstanding. She also has a wealth of knowledge of things to do in the area. Great location right around the corner from the Imperial Theatre.
