Exceptional hotel. Restaurant was incredible. Spa was superb. The room was A1 and the whole experience was perfection. When one travels to Shediac in the winter, the Hotel Shediac gives you the total package. A great get-away to combat the winter blues. Breakfast was included and was delicious, my only complaint was that with such a 5-star experience, I would have much preferred to not breakfast on paper plates - it just didn't seem right.

This hotel is nice, clean, and the staff are helpful. It is in the small town of Shediac, a seaside town that bills itself as the "lobster capital of the world." Be advised, though, that Shediac, though its Main Street is about three blocks from the sea, it's not like this town in really on the water. Most of the waterfront is blocked off by privately owned houses, and the town itself is more strip malls and dollar stores than anything charming. If you're looking for a tranquil seaside dinner, this is not really the place; the Main Street is constantly clogged with cars, and eating outside is possible but would involve inhaling quite a bit of auto exhaust. If you want charming, walkable, and seaside, go 2.5 hours west to Saint Andrews. That said, we had a room facing the bay on the sixth floor of this hotel, and the view from there was fantastic, the one redeeming feature that made up for the tackiness of the town. Sitting on the balcony of our room, sipping a glass of wine, while the sun went down, made it all worth it. The restaurant at this hotel has a good reputation, but it was closed when we were there, so not able to report about that. My wife enjoyed the pool, which was small but nice. Had a problem with the TV in the living room, it didn't turn on, but that was not a big deal since we are not really big TV watcher. The thing to watch here is the view of the bay.

Room Tip: Choose a bayside room on a floor high enough to see the bay (at least 4th floor, I think).

We booked exec 6th floor with sea views. Room was extremely large and views were amazing, despite being unlucky with poor weather.
Wine glasses were quickly fetched from the 2nd floor bar/resto.
Lobster roll at lunch was pricy for the amount of lobster served.

We were happy when we stayed at Hotel Shediac a few years ago, but this time was not so good. You pay a premium price, and it is a beautiful hotel, but yet there is no housekeeping unless you contact the front desk to tell them you would like it. ( not even the little signs to put on your outside door knob) We did contact the front desk to ask to get our room done, left for the day, and when we got back in the evening, our garbages were not emptied, nothing, not even bathroom sink was wiped down, our beds not made up properly, basically just the covers thrown over, our used glasses were not taken and replaced, floors not swept ( there was dirt on the floor.) The night clerk was very good and looked after us when we complained, but when we checked out, the woman at the desk was unapologetic, said they were very busy and that this type of thing happens. Say what?? I told here well at this price it shouldn't!! Also, many places include breakfast at this price, but here you pay an extra $16.95 per person if you want a mediocre breakfast. No discount, no apology, oh well, will never stay there again.

When I first moved to Shediac from Toronto, I had the privilege of dinning at what was then St. James Gate, now La Gare.

Tonight, I took my neighbors over to say thank you for cutting my lawn while I was away and in isolation.

The gentleman at the front of the restaurant greeted perfectly we got our table and started to order. The waitress, she was nice and friendly, we waited a very long time for our bread to be delivered and one of my neighbors went over to speak to the waitress. As per my neighbor, the waitress mentioned they had 7 people down stairs and they were busy but the food is ready.

About 5 mins later the food arrived;

I have to say it was the most dry dehydrated pulled pork burger I have ever had, however the french fries were perfect. So I did not each the pulled pork sandwich it was so bad.

The waitress did not ask if we wanted desert, however ask one or two bills, I asked her for 1 bill, and explained how bad the pulled pork was and why I did not eat the burger. To my amazement, I was charged $18.00 for the pulled pork burger, I explained to the waitress why its not appropriate to charge me for something I did not eat as it was not up to good standards, however I did say I will pay for the french fries they were great.

5-10 minutes went by, and the waitress brought the bill back with a $4.50 credit on it, so basically I paid $13.50 for French Fries!

The restaurant is subpar, do not eat there nor will I recommend any of my rentals to dine there anymore.

The hotel is really nice. Clean & well kept. The beds and pillows were SO comfortable. The balcony on the room was very nice. We were there with a group so we could go out to our balconies to socialize a bit while still having our own room. When we were checking in it was very obvious there was some sort of issue between two of the staff. The way one spoke to the other was very sharp. When we stayed her in the past the breakfast was included. It was a buffet so I understand that during the current situation a buffet isn't possible. Unfortunately, nothing about the breakfast available for purchase was told to us at check-in. I had to call the front desk in the morning & ask. A voucher system at check-in would be much more efficient. This would alleviate much confusion. We witnessed other guests who were back & forth between the Starbucks breakfast counter & the hotel desk trying to get breakfast. Confused as the staff member told them breakfast was in the Starbucks but, hadn't advised them how it works. They went into Starbucks to be turned back to the counter to get the paper order sheet. Unnecessary.
The best part of our stay was Allen in the attached restaurant on the 2nd floor. He was amazing! His service skills are top notch. He knows how to make guests feel comfortable & welcome. Checked in frequently despite serving what seemed like all the tables in the place. He was also the bartender and he makes a great dirty martini. He is the reason we will return to this restaurant.

I’ll start with the positives: The room looked as though it was recently refurbished, had a comfortable bed, and good shower pressure. The hotel staff were friendly, including the staff facilitating the buffet breakfast that was included. We were booked into this hotel as part of a tour.

It should be noted that room is not carpeted, which when it is cold, can be uncomfortable. The buffet was limited but at least included.

This is a beautiful hotel..just 15 minute walk to the Giant Lobster. There is ample parking and a large number of restaurants in the area. The rooms are very clean, with large bathrooms, comfortable beds and they are very quiet. Although breakfast isn’t included in price, they do have breakfast available in the on site restaurant.

Hotel Shediac is located conveniently on the main drag. Our room was stunning, it was HUGE. We loved the bathroom and the balcony. The bed was super comfy. Checking in the front desk lady was less then friendly, couldn’t get rid of us fast enough and said as little as possible. I’m not sure if it was because we were English speaking and not French?
The worst part was the restaurant. Our server was literally the most miserable man. My husband and I have worked in and own restaurants and have been in the service industry for many years and I have never experienced a more rude server. He barely acknowledged us, our drinks were awful and so was our food. Perhaps he was having a bad night, but we were over the top nice trying to change his mood and all he could do was roll his eyes. Quite shocking behavior honestly.
We would recommend the hotel forsure, but not the restaurant.

We stayed at the hotel for one night. We had a room on the 4th floor with a large balcony, and 2 queen beds. Extremely impressed. It was very clean and bright. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Swam in the pool which was a perfect temperature. Had drinks and mussels at the restaurant-which was amazing. Breakfast the next morning was also very good, they even had baked beans.
The location was great, we walked around town and out to the ocean.
Highly recommend this place.
