Being hikers, we chose this accommodation specifically because it is on the renowned NF East Coast Hiking Trail and is owned by Dr Elke Dettmer whose work in establishing the Trail is widely recognized. We stayed for five nights and Elke’s services included all meals and daily transfers as needed. Our experience was absolutely terrific in every respect. Elke is...

This B&B is dedicated to hikers and avoids a lot of the fussiness often associated with B&B’s. No lace doilies here! What we did get was three hearty and nutritious meals every day, an excellent library of both fiction and materials relating to Newfoundland and the East Coast Trail, comfy beds, and transportation to and from the trail heads. We...

Elke is one of the founders and developers of the East Coast Trail. We signed up for the hikers special and got all three meals, plus transport to and from our hikes. With Elke's urging, we hiked all the trails north of St. John's. She provided maps and hints about the trails. She even lent us Nina, her dog, to...

Points East is a perfect place to enjoy a few days' hiking on the East Coast Trail. Elke picked us up promptly in St. John's, and had us on the trail to Cape St. Francis in no time. The home is modest and cozy, with a spectacular location - right on a headland overlooking the ocean. We arrived during the...

I just stayed at Points East in Pouch Cove for 3 days in October and was very happy with my choice. Elke was most accomodating, driving me to trailheads along the East Coast Trail and providing maps and great advice for hikes in the area. She even let me take her dog for company on lengthy hikes! The home was...

Simple and basic accommodations but very clean and functional - most welcome after a day of hiking the East Coast trail! Our host, Elke and her pets, truly opened their home to us. She went above and beyond in preparing meals, snacks, supporting and driving hikers, sharing her kitchen for all needs and providing trail tips and great conversation. Thanks...

If you want to hike and a soft place to land at the end of the day, this is it! Our host was more than generous and a great person to talk to about the area. I highly recommend this place. Comfortable rooms, large bathroom, great shower. A hiker's paradise for those interested in the east coast trail.

We were very unimpressed by this place. Although the website promised great things, when we arrived it was obvious that our hostess had completely forgotten that she had us booked in for the night and we were banished to another house. Whilst we had the house all to ourselves (had we not, we would have had to have shared the...
