I'm our room I found underwear from previous guest, sock from previous guest, and a drink can in the window sill- clearly not thorough cleaning! It was also dingy and outdated. I had to call for toilet paper and towels as we were there for 3 nights and there was no housekeeping despite having the card hanging on the door. Not impressed

Stains on the carpet, outdated room, parking lot is very small, had to beg for toilet paper and towels, hotel was way overbooked (soccer teams, wedding, some sort of card tournament). If the hotel staff can’t handle all that business, don’t book so much.

There was nobody cleaning, staff was verbally abusive, you’re not allowed outside your room past 10, broken glass at pool for days, leaking toilet all over carpet by pool and they only dried it. They ran out of towels, and one elevator from 1955.

Just spent 3 nights here on hockey tournament. Staff (front desk) were ignorant and unpleasant. Parents couldn’t socialize past 10pm. Very intolerant of any noise at all and of children in general. And we had a floor to ourselves. When checking out the front desk never even said hello, goodbye, thank you. We weren’t very noisy - hanging out in a room and socializing. I’ve been on numerous sports trips and this was the worst hotel I’ve ever experienced. Restaurant was brutal as well. Better off staying in a tent. On the bright side - it was relatively clean.

I made a booking through this hotel's online portal a week ago. Their system did not give an automatic confirmation as it said it would. So I emailed the hotel asking for a booking confirmation. It has been a week and the hotel has not responded. I re-sent my original email to the hotel yesterday, still no response. This hotel claims to have a 24/7 reservation desk. I stay in hotels constantly. This is the first time I have never received a response from a hotel. EXTREMELY unprofessional. Cancelling the booking. Enjoy the summer!

We arrived late in the evening - about 15 minutes before the pub would close - the desk clerk was fine. Our rooms were just basic. I missed being able to make myself a cup of tea, since there was a keurig in the room with only coffee pods. It would be a nice gesture to include even one tea pod with the others. We rented two rooms, and the room our daughter and her husband were in had a very wet floor in the bathroom upon arrival. We were too tired to ask for assistance, so they mopped it up themselves. The hotel is pretty quiet. We probably would have stayed somewhere else closer to the highway if we could have, but this was the best alternative by the time we booked.

Rooms are clean and the staff is always awesome – very friendly and willing to help. We've had various little mishaps over the years in different rooms (malfunctioning toilet or non-working A/C etc) and they've always fixed the situation promptly. It's an older hotel so there will be issues every now and then, but it's never a problem because the staff there is great. Deluxe King room has two lazyboy chairs great for late night TV watching, and the beds are comfortable. Room service ends early (earlier than the book in the room suggests), so don't wait too long. If you miss out, there are several nice spots just a few doors away. One thing they could easily fix: the carpet on the main stairway from the lobby is pretty disgusting. I don't know how old it is, but it should have been replaced decades ago. It's the one blight on ash otherwise pretty nice hotel, and every time we visit I wonder if they'll have replaced it yet. So far, it's still there. This one small change would be a massive improvement.

Booked a night away and two rooms were available. One with 2 double beds and one 'King Suite on our executive floor'. Booked the King Suite to find it was just a basic room. Old, dirty carpet, furniture was old and scratched up. Bathroom is standard run of the mill with a shower curtain that doesn't fit right on their curved rod, so it slides back to the middle and water gets on the floor at both ends when having a shower. Plug in the tub didn't work, the room had an unpleasant odor. Thermostat wouldn't work properly. We wanted to go back and try to get our money back as soon as we entered but decided to stick it out for the night. $169 for what was expected to be an upgraded room. Even had the desk clerk say 'ooohhhh, staying in luxury tonight' when we checked in, so we were expecting something above a motel room with a King bed. Unfortunately there was nothing luxurious about it at all. Ate at the Crown & Moose. We went in because the place wasn't busy and figured we'd not have a long wait. 4 servers on and waited an hour for fish and chips - although the food was very good. Definitely more of a place to sit and drink and munch as opposed to having dinner. Overall will not stay at this hotel again. Have stayed at the Comfort Inn and the Quality Inn in Corner Brook in basic rooms and both were cleaner and definitely nicer. Would recommend checking out the other local hotels before booking the Greenwood. You are likely to get a better deal on a better room.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. This review kept the COVID restrictions in mind when commenting. First, it has been a period of time since we stayed here and at that time it needed some work and it still does. Check in was quick and uneventful. Albeit, we were not advised that we would not receive any maid service and towels would not be changed daily. We had to ask for towels to replace the used ones every day and they would simply bring to your room. The room was as advertised. The bed was quite comfortable, and generally very quiet and was clean at first glance. While getting a shower, we noticed that the shower curtain was worn out and torn in numerous places near the grommets. While sitting down on one of the nice chairs (which do need to be cleaned), we noticed a sock from a previous guest on the floor. It was in a clearly visible area that housekeeping should have noticed and removed. So our observation of the cleanliness of the hotel diminished dramatically. The desktop was not clean and noticed several drops from spills and we became suspicious of all the other touch points, including the TV remote, which we cleaned before use. Overall, the cleanliness is just average at best and can state that the high standards that they say they follow is very suspect to say the least. What is quickly visible/noticeable is what gets cleaned. Checkout was easily handled, and we paid our bill. After payment, we suggested to the front desk clerk that he might want to suggest to the housekeeping manager that more attention should be paid to overall room preparation for incoming guests and told him of the sock incident. No apology (like sorry about that or that should not have happened etc) as would be normal practice, just a simple ok. Almost curt ! Overall, we had higher expectations and this hotel missed the grade. Very disappointed to say the least.
