When we arrived at the hotel we were told that the elevators weren’t working so we could use the service elevator. We were on the 6 th floor with a person with mobility issues so an operating elevator was crucial. It was crazy. The hotel was full and the line ups for the one elevator used for patrons and the service staff included was ridiculous. The line ups and wait time was very very inconvenient. The impatience of wait times forced patrons to cram into the elevator in larger numbers than should be permitted during a pandemic. I was later told they have been out of operation for months !!! Had I have known this I would have booked elsewhere. The wait time caused us to rebook our dinner reservation. The staff and front desk were very helpful but the hotel chain should be fined by public health as this is cannot be within the safety guideline for operation during a pandemic.

Built in 1982 with rooms and bathrooms furnished about the I would guess. Lobby is fresh and redone, the rooms are not. Old old style bathroom with tub shower and single vanity. Room is small and basic with no safe or mini bar. There is a refrigerator and there are wall outlets so at least you can charge your devices. Bed is comfortable Tv is large and modern. Everything else (design, carpet which is disgusting, drapes, heat/ac, bathroom) is faded and in desperate need of modernization and updating. The window wall ac/heat is ridiculously noisy so hopefully you won't need it or your won't be able to sleep. Walls and doors are sooo thin you can hear everything.
Check in was interminably slow at 430am!!!
Could not get anyone to answer room service for more than an hour one night so gave up...a big event meant I guess they had no staff to pick up the phone.
A very very mediocre hotel. Stay somewhere else.

Several other reviews have been posted re this hotel, following a flight from Cancun being re-directed following a medical emergency on board.
I would just like to add my praise to what other reviewers have said.
We were treated with the utmost courtesy and good humour, despite staff being ‘dragged from their beds’ to check in several hundred tired, hungry and, in my case, frightened people.
Kitchen staff rustled up breakfast within an hour or so, with a hot and cold buffet lunch provided some hours later.
The rooms were well appointed, warm and very clean.

I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at this hotel, on departure the manager shook hands with each guest (pre social distancing!) and wished us well.

We stayed at the Sheraton for 3 nights at the beginning of the month. Being Platinum members, we were upgraded to a room with a beautiful view of the Narrows--something I will never get tired of looking at! The room was clean though we were missing a few things like tissues and tea bags which were quickly brought up to our room upon request. The staff at check-in, concierge, and in the restaurant were friendly and accommodating. Great location for exploring St. John's. Will definitely return.

Our room was clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were very kind and greeted us warmly. The hotel location was an easy walk to the waterfront shops. The hotel seemed short-staffed and was unable to clean up meeting rooms or bring towels to the pool after multiple requests. A nice place to stay, but bring your patience.

Lobby and restaurant clean , and staff very friendly. Still recovering from Covid under staffing etc... Room was average at best, bed decent, no mini safe, minimum soaps etc... Coffee machine worked well. Covid restrictions meant no house keeping so had to request towels, water, more coffee etc..

Bar only open until 10.
Short walk to other restaurants and bars. Vu restaurant near by

We recently stayed here by chance after our flight back from Cancun was redirected to St John’s at very short notice for the hotel. They took a high percentage of our flights passengers for one night. The service they provided was fantastic. The staff were extremely hard working. This had caught them completely off guard but you would have never known. The hotel was lovely as is St John’s and it’s locals. After being there for a short time and meeting some of its residents this is definitely on the too do list for a trip. A real gem. A huge thank you to the hotel, it’s staff and the residents who transported us on commandeered school buses in the small hours.

You walk into the lobby, and the decor is lovely with many places to sit, work, hang out with friends.

You walk up to check in, and the service is warm, friendly and personable. I’m pretty sure I found guests often just chatting with the hotel staff (including myself)—that’s how nice it was!

You walk beyond the lobby, and towards the back is a restaurant overlooking a gorgeous atrium. We had lovely weather, so we didn’t really appreciate it that much, but I can imagine this being a great place to hang out in the cold winter months. I normally try to avoid eating at hotel restaurants so we can check out the local fare. But one night we were a little exhausted, and went to check it out. The food was fantastic!

You walk up to your room, and at first it seems pretty standard layout—two double beds, big flat screen TV, bathroom. But it was more than your standard room: gorgeous view of the harbour, mini-fridge, microwave, weighted blankets, every kind of pillow imaginable. This is what I expect from Sheraton.

The hotel has a gym unlike what you’d expect at a hotel. Weight room, yoga room, cardio room, saunas, a deep pool and nice jacuzzi.

I even had a nice chat with one of the house keeping staff who just moved here from Ukraine.

The hotel was as great as my trip to Newfoundland. Awesome.

There was something off about this hotel. We stayed here twice in September. Felt like they were still trying to recover from the Covid closure. Room cleaning was sparse. We had to ask for coffees/ creamers each day. Restaurant/bar was unattended a few times. Rooms with nice views had surprisingly small windows. The “round” window rooms had only that small round window which made the room feel small. Variable pricing each day was hard to swallow. Rooms had that old feel. Front desk people weren’t particularly helpful although all other personnel we met were extremely friendly.

We arrived after being dropped off at the wrong hotel by the taxi driver. The small walk to the Sheraton at 1:30 AM had us greeted by the most friendliest staff and ensure the registration was seamless and expedited with finesse.

Our room overlooked the city at first. We had to be moved to another room (which was so overly efficiently manipulated!) and it overlooked the harbour.

Both views in the morning greeted you with the warmth of Newfoundland landscape, regardless of the temperature outside. We were in awe.

This hotel is so conveniently located, great walking distance to Water and George St., Signal Hill is a kilometre away.

The staff are amazing, nothing less can be said about them. Will definitely be booking with this hotel the next round!

If a 10 out of 5 rating could be given, this hotel would certainly be granted it in our books!
