The staff at the hotel are great. From check in to inquiries they are knowledgeable and helpful. Where they can accommodate a request, they will do everything they can to help you. Excellent team.
The shuttle is an excellent way of getting to the hospital for appointment and the driver is very helpful in assisting with information on using easier routes to get around town. He is an excellent driver.

Average hotel for the area. They were completely booked during our visit and were "unable" to make accommodations. No cots available for guest. After several attempts they did manage to make things work. Located in pretty much the central hub of the city, close to major shopping centers and hospital is only a quick ride away.

Excellent experience at this hotel. Clean rooms, fine restaurant, excellent staff. I would highly recommended the Capital as a place to stay. Staff were friendly and attentive. I liked the idea that I could make a reservation by calling the idea directly.

I attended a wedding at the hotel and had a room reserved for the night. I really didn’t have time to check out the facilities as check in time was between the ceremony and the dinner.
It was hot during the day so when I arrived the air conditioning was on in the room. Later that evening when I returned to my room for the night, it had cooled down considerably so I turned the air off. I busied myself getting ready for bed and not until I was in bed did I hear a constant water drip. I got out of bed to investigate where the noise was coming from and realized it was the A/C unit. I had to move my belongings out of the way because I really felt the building water would like cause the A/C unit to burst open. When I called the front desk, expecting to be given a different room, I was told they’d send someone up to investigate (2:00am). I was not comfortable with that as I was already in bed. The next day at checkout I again told them about what was now a soaking wet carpet and the inconvenience it caused. I didn’t even receive an apology let alone an offer of compensation.
I would NOT recommend staying here. I am sure the amount of water on the floor will eventually turn to mold.

Terrible customer service. Called and booked with this hotel on a Friday. But when our plans changed and we called back on Tuesday to extend it by a day they had lost our reservation and then would not honor the price with another room. Be aware and make sure you don't loose your booking confirmation number. I understand that they may be busy, but they need to try harder.

The service from the front desk to Jack's Restaurant, the bar, and housekeeping was speedy and professional. The price and service combined is hard to beat in the entire city.
Jack's Restaurant has really good food and the menu has some traditional Newfoundland dishes. The service is polite and fast.

I am on Day 8 of my 14th day quarantine at this hotel and so far the service has been absolutely amazing. They have met all my requests and made my stay at this hotel very comfortable. Anyone who is looking for a hotel to quarantine for 14 days should definitely consider this hotel because of the level of customer service they provide!

The lobby was nice, thats it. The elevators had what looked like a blood stain in it. The carpets in the halls is worn out and stained. Opened the door to a room that smelled like armpits (read this on a couple reviews). The plug for the tub was hard, brittle and stained a dark brown (these things are a couple dollars). Light next to bed attached to wall flopped down as soon as I tried to turn it on. Used a plug in that was loose inside electrical box, expected sparks. Toilet would only flush when it felt like it, had to flush a number of times each use. Crome on all the taps was coming off. The whole place is just worn out.

My visit to St. John’s was supposed to be 4 nights at the Capital Hotel. We arrived on Wednesday and Thursday evening the storm started. We left the hotel 12 days after we checked in! We Staff were caught at the hotel as well as the guests. Staff worked shift after shift without a break, without relief. They fed us excellent food, gave excellent service even though we knew they were beat!! Some staff started on Wednesday and never got home until the following Tuesday. They had to work around the clock! We got to joe them all and at all times we were treated with respect. We started calling them family. They gave professional and courteous service but more they made us feel at home. I commend them all, management, Cooke, servers, housekeeping, maintenance and bartenders. I can only say thank you, thank you. We will be back..,
p.s. The white chocolate bake apple dessert was delicious and very low in carbs and sugar!!
