We stayed at an oceanview cottage and the view was beautiful! It was very clean with gorgeous landscaping. We read the manual and discovered we were responsible for removing our garbage out of the unit or face a $25.00 fine. For the price we paid to stay there we found this unreasonable and was the first time we have EVER encountered this in all of our travels. It is a wonder we weren't asked to wash all of the linens....other than this it was a great experience.

I would like to mention the pros and cons .

Pros where
Beautiful setting , everything we needed to cook with was supplied . Bed was amazingly comfortable . Coffee and dried milk was left for us on arrival . Information on the area was available. Having a bbq with the property was nice . Geraldine was helpful with information on the area .

Cons
The property we had was near the road so a little noisy though this did not bother us .

We had to be out the cottage at 10.30 which I asked if we could have slightly longer as we where waiting for family to pick us up , this was not possible as they had people due to move in .

The main bedroom did not have a great area for hanging clothes , there was a very small open cupboard
.
We did message the property before arriving to ask what would happen if my husbands hospital appointment came through when we where due there( I did understand it was 5 weeks before we where due at the property and to cancel it needed to be 6 weeks before ) but thought I would see if there was any way around this . I received an e mail saying they have taken the full amount of my credit card and cancelled the property . After e mailing again they said the property would still be available which I said they may as well keep the payment , I did think this was a bit harsh as I never asked for it to be cancelled and did cause us some worry .

We did still enjoy our stay at larindas landing and love the beautiful area around

I cannot put into words how much we loved Larindas cottages! We booked all of the gorgeous cottages for our bridal party, and we are already planning an annual trip back every summer. The manager, Wouter, made our experience seemless and so enjoyable. He ensured we had everything we needed and made our wedding weekend so special. Each cottage was unique, and the decor was a perfect blend of luxury with a cottage feel. Waking up to the sound of the ocean, and fresh breeze was something I did not want to leave. I will be recommending Larindas cottages to everyone I know. No question 5 star cottages, and staff!!

we stayed at baldmoneys boathouse from Aug 29 until Sept 2 2020. the view was very beautiful but the beds were extremely uncomfortable, the front burner didn't work on the stove and there was no room for our Non perishables. there was only parking for one vehicle. these were minor and forgivable inconveniences, but what was not was the fact that I paid 275 a night to have access to a private beach so that my toddler sons could experience the beach for one of their first times. I have fibromyalgia and having a cottage within a short walk to the beach sounded very convenient. unfortunately, by 1215pm the first full day we were there the beach was still covered in seaweed and there was garbage on the beach. the manager told me it wasn't that bad and so I asked him for a rake so I could clean it myself.my 67 yr old father with a heart condition, and I with fibromyalgia spent hours cleaning up the beach so that the kids could play and not sit on the new and old seaweed that was covered with bugs . and I picked up a small bag of garbage. the following day a young man came , spent 20 mins on only one side of the beach( the small portion we did not get to because we were too exhausted to finish) and left most of the beach the way it was. over the next 2 days my father continued to rake up the beach . I believe, it is about 100.00 overpriced per night, as the laundry services along with other services were not accessible due to covid , and the property maintenance was not upto par. if a private beach is considered a main feature it should be maintained more than 2 to 3 times a week, and more than 20 mins effort put into it. over a few days we were offered 2 bags of firewood in exchange for all the work we did. I was hoping for a relaxing time with the kids and ended up stressed and working to make the beach suitable for them. I wont be going back, nor would I recommend my friends and family unless the price dropped and the beach was properly managed.

I live in British Columbia and booked this on line from the pictures. Sadly the cottage was not quiet and peaceful but just off the road with lots of traffic. The positives are that is was super clean and well stocked. Negatives are that is was loud at night with traffic and fans going and I need ear plugs. It gets really hot so you will need fans on all the time also the bedrooms have skylights that cannot be covered so it is very bright every morning. You do need to clean up and do recycling and garbage or you will be charged. There was no compost or bins set out in the cottage. For the money I think you can find better value unless you are right down on the water. I was happy to leave and head home after 6 days.

I rented a pet friendly cottage here for two months last spring. Initially I was grateful to find such a seemingly wonderful spot to first quarantine and then stay while I found permanent housing back in NS. The location is great but when one stays longer than a day or two issues become apparent. My cottage was full of both mice and nesting birds. I contacted management about the mice and they were great looking into it right away. The owner however denied there was a problem and removed the traps, thus attempting to make it a non-issue. Still finding mouse poop all over the kitchen and in cupboards I requested another cottage, or to let me out of my contract or to fumigate the place while putting me up in another of the vacant cottages while the fumes cleared. The owner was not open to any of what I offered and became quite hostile to the extent that I called 911 after being threatened by him. I did not inform them of the birds nesting in the attic next to the bedroom since I was afraid of what he would do next. When someone "snaps" like he did, I was leery of doing anything to set him off. I DID NOT FEEL SAFE after the encounter and he was ordered to stay away from me until I left.

The staff of the place were exceptional; friendly and accommodating and I have no complaints about them whatsoever. It's sad really because the place has amazing potential but the owner is volatile and the place really should be fumigated at the beginning of each season.

Greer, We take a lot of pride in our customer service at Larinda’s Landing and were shocked and saddened to read Greer’s post almost a year after she stayed with us. Greer wanted Larinda’s Landing to cancel her June 2021 booking 3 days before her booking was to begin. Greer documented to us in an email that she wanted to cancel her June 2021 booking because she had found a price preferable option. Unfortunately, we could not refund Greer for the month of June 2021 because of our cancellation policy which was agreed to (by Greer) at the time of her booking. As well, we had already turned away potential guests because Greer had the entire month booked. When Greer learned, she was not entitled to a refund she became irate. In fact, she sent an email to Larinda’s Landing to cancel her June 2021 booking which stated, “I really don’t want to have to pursue getting my money back for cancelling another way, but I will if need be.” We felt at the time this was a potential threat to slander our good name and reputation at Larinda’s Landing but refused to allow such threats to impact our business and cancellation policies. All of Greer’s interactions throughout her 2-month stay were with our on-site staff. In fact, any feedback received from Greer had nothing but praise for our employees. Therefore, I am not sure where Greer’s allegations of feeling threatened (as stated in her review) originated from as I (the owner) never met Greer in person at any time for the duration of her stay. Despite what was written in Greer’s review to Trip Advisor about feeling threatened and not feeling safe in May 2021, she did stay at Larinda’s Landing for the entire month of June 2021. Last, but certainly not least, we pride ourselves in our very extensive and thorough start-up procedures to ensure our cottages are fully equipped, fully functional and spotless prior to our mid May opening each year. After speaking with the staff plus a thorough review of the housekeeping and maintenance records during Greer’s stay, there was no indication or documentation to support any mice or birds in Greer’s cottage. Anyone on Trip Advisor reviewing Larinda’s Landing can see we currently have 130 excellent reviews, 17 very good, 2 average, 1 poor and 2 terrible (1 of which was Greer’s). For information purposes only, this is the second posting made by Greer. The first review was removed by Trip Advisor because she used a fictitious name. The second review is more or less a duplicate of Greer’s first post on Trip Advisor using her correct name. It is unfortunate that Greer resorted to cyber-smearing Larinda’s Landing because we would not deviate from our cancellation policy which was provided in writing at the time of her booking confirmation. I can unequivocally attest as the Owner of Larinda’s Landing Oceanfront Cottages that I never met Greer in person nor was there ever an order (by anyone) including any law enforcement agency for me to stay away from Greer. Sincerely the Owner of Larinda’s Landing Oceanfront Cottages

I booked a stay at Larindas Landing during COVID lockdown (October 2021), and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Despite encountering unexpected circumstances that required a cancellation, I was met with a disappointing level of customer service.

Upon reaching out to the staff to discuss a possible refund, I was met with a condescending and disrespectful tone that left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a customer. The refusal to consider my situation and explore potential solutions seemed unreasonable and lacked the empathy one would expect from a hospitality business.

Effective communication is crucial in the service industry, and I regret to say that the way my concerns were addressed fell far short of expectations. It is disheartening to encounter such an approach, especially when dealing with an establishment that relies heavily on positive customer experiences.

I believe a business's success is not only measured by the quality of its accommodations but also by the level of customer service it provides. In this regard, Larindas Landing has room for improvement. I hope that future guests have a more positive experience or, at the very least, encounter a more empathetic and understanding response in case of unforeseen circumstances.

Unfortunately, my experience has left a lasting impression, and I am unlikely to consider Larindas Landing for anyone looking for somewhere to stay in NS.

We just spent the weekend here, and it was absolutely amazing, you won't be disappointed, it was so relaxing hearing the ocean surf clapping against the rocks all night. Very clean little cottage, nice firepit, all the appliances and facilities on site worked perfect and looked great. We'll be revisitg before the end of the summer for sure! -Ron

Even with a PCR test showing positive for Covid-19, Larinda's Landing would not permit postponing our visit for more 1 week. They took our money and we never had a chance to stay. Bummer for us and we will not be giving them a visit in the future.
If you decide to book with them, be sure not to get Covid.

We are very sorry to hear this guest had to cancel their booking at Larinda’s Landing due to a positive Covid-19 PCR test. We are a small seasonal business and for the first two years of the pandemic we provided refunds, rebooked guests, and did everything we could to accommodate the unforeseen circumstances of the Covid pandemic. During the third year of the pandemic, in order to recover as a small business, we had to make guidelines around cancellations as the pandemic is no longer an unforeseen possibility. Unfortunately, this guest was booked during the third year of the pandemic. As per our booking terms and conditions sent out at the time of a guest’s reservation, we advise all guests to take out comprehensive travel insurance to protect themselves from the financial impact of cancelling. If a guest chooses not to, then they accept responsibility for any loss that they may incur due to a cancellation. Also, upon receipt of a booking confirmation the guest has 24 hours to cancel the reservation without penalty. After that time, our cancellation policy becomes effective. Again, we are sorry this guest could not accept the alternative dates we offered, however, travel insurance would have prevented any financial loss. If this guest would like us to provide any paperwork to support a travel insurance claim, we would certainly do so at their request.

We cannot say enough positive things about this beautiful little getaway spot. We were here on our honeymoon and it was lovely. Our cottage had a covered porch right on the water where we enjoyed our coffee each morning; regardless of the weather. The cottages are clean and equipped with everything you need. Also, the staff is wonderful…kind and very helpful. If you need a getaway to relax, this spot is ideal.
