Blachford Lake Lodge, a family run business for over 30 years, is the only fly-in wilderness resort situated on Blachford Lake (60 miles south-east of Yellowknife). The 25-minute bush plane flight from Yellowknife is often considered as one of the highlights of a trip to Blachford. We pride ourselves on complimenting your northern experience with great food, a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and dedicated customer service. Our winter season (January to April) offers great opportunities to watch the aurora (northern lights), to go snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, hiking, ice-fishing or simply to relax in the hot tub.Our summer season (June to October) offers great fishing. Canoe or kayak under the midnight sun (June/July) or hike one of the many nature trails. By late summer (mid August) the aurora becomes more visible again and one can watch the northern lights being reflected in the water. Anytime, feel royally when you follow the paths that William and Kate walked during their Royal visit at Blachford Lake Lodge in July 2011.

We recently had a very pleasant 3 day stay at the Blachford Lake Lodge. The lodge was rustic, but it had everything you needed and the staff was 5 star. They were very attentive to the dietary needs of the guests. The aurora viewing was magnificent. They had an alert system

We have visited Blachford twice now, once for four nights on our honeymoon and once for seven nights on an anniversary. Both times have been in March, so still pretty cold but we absolutely love it out there when it's all frozen and covered in snow. It is a beautiful and magical

I didn't experienced any issues during the 25min trip. Even with the cloud sky, we didn't get any turbulence. It was the opposite. Very calm flight. My 3y daughter has slept the whole trip

Hi Alexis! We do have a Tipi on site :) It's for guest use - we often host guests in it to play music, participate in story telling, roast marshmallows, etc. It's very close to the guest cabins and the main lodge, so guests can spend all of the time they'd like in the Tipi, but also sleep in their own room/cabin! We'd love to host you this August - if you have specific dates, you can always shoot us an email and we'll be happy to get you a detailed quote. Mahsi :)
