The room has been almost completely renovated while keeping its old look. Very clean. Comfortable bed and new , convenient kitchen for longer stays or family .Not very soundproofed though without counting the noise of the fridge 🥴

My family travelled to Antigonish for my mother's funeral on January 20 and we all spent 2 night s at the Homeward Inns on James Street. The rooms were clean and comfortable and all together in one section of the motel, it was comforting that we could all be together. Staff were kind and courteous which made a difficult time a little more bearable

We were late in booking accommodations for a weekend wedding but fortunately Homeward Inns had space. Very basic accommodation, but they are trying to do their best. The rooms were clean, nestled between Tim Hortons and McDonalds, adjacent to the highway so along with the old AC, a little noisy. The AC drowned most of that out...

The property is right off the main highway on the main road of Antigonish so you can hear the big convoys drive by but is otherwise surprisingly quiet in terms of traffic. There are a variety of food establishments to choose from within walking distance and it’s close to the University.

Front desk staff was friendly and helpful but there is no continental breakfast included. Coffee is complimentary at the lobby but that’s about all you’re going to get. The rooms are located on the side and back of the property.

Some if not all of the buildings stand only on cement blocks. When the people next door to you move around it can clearly be heard in your room. That’s not counting the tv, the people talking, the doors opening and closing and the banging on the wall when they move in their beds. You can compare it to being on a ground floor with someone above you but 50 times louder. It was that bad that I had to put in my ear plugs.

You can throw in new linens, plank flooring, a flat screen tv and lamp shades all you want but these rooms need more attention and come with a musty smell. The beds are in need of serious upgrading as do the towels. What establishment carries brown towels these days? Are they clean? Are they dirty? Are they stained? Who knows..?

If you’re a hard sleeper who just needs a place to lay your head for the night on a budget this place is for you. Otherwise do yourself a favour and spend the extra money at another establishment.

My husband and 9 yr old son got there the day before attending hockey camp, the room was supposed to be ready at 3pm, it was not ready until 5pm. (They took my visa over the phone, booked it for 5 nights) Me, my 14 yr old and 4 month old daughters could not go there until the next day because they did not have a 2-bed room available, that was fine with me, until we arrived the next day. When we got there, we were bringing the baby into the room from our truck, we parked, to us what looked like a parking spot( no signs posted otherwise), so we could bring the playpen and babyswing in and luggage. A man raised his voice in the hallway and said "whose red truck out there!" My husband was going down the hall to get our luggage and said " I got a red truck.". The man said (not politely) " You got to move it right now, you are not allowed to park there!" My husband was trying to tell him he was just bringing the baby in and getting the luggage. The man cut him off and said move it RIGHT NOW! He kept repeating it MOVE IT NOW! My husband got a little upset and embarassed that this man was treating him so disrespectfully, he cussed one word. The man said what room are you in and he told him. The man said "you go to go", my husband was shocked and said "what". The man said " GET OFF MY PROPERTY". He said he was the owner of the Homeward Inn. He was working late because the manager quit on him a couple days earlier.
Well our family trip did not start, I just wanted to go home. The baby was upset it was dark by the time my husband got through giving them back their key and getting a receipt. We had an hour and a half drive but it took us 2 hours because we had to stop and calm the baby down. I never want to go to Antigonish again because of this incident, I feel very humiliated and embarassed. This never happened to me in my lifetime until now.

We stayed here August 4, 2017 as a stop over on our way to Halifax. We checked in a bit late (10 pm) which they were alright with. We booked here because of it's location (close to amenities). Upon arriving we were "upgraded" to a different room with two queen size beds. When we entered the building the first thing that hit us was the dirt and the stink in the long hallway. The room itself was very dirty and smelled bad. Carpets were filthy and the walls needed a lot of TLC! We must say that it's bad when you have to step on towels to avoid stepping on the floor. We might add though the bed sheets looked clean as did the bathroom. We did contemplate leaving shortly after check-in but given the time of night and unsure we would find something else we decided to stay. The next morning we told the lady at the front desk about the condition of the room and what we would have done if it wasn't so late. Her reply was simply "okay, thank you". Will never stay here again (maybe should have stayed in the car).

We booked our room for a family wedding about a month in advance. The wedding was half an hour out of town and we knew that we would miss the check in time, so we called ahead and checked in early. They gave us our key and showed us were our room was. The people in the room the night before hadn't left yet, as it was still morning when we arrived. We arrived back in town at 2 a.m. more than ready for bed. We had a suite, as we were prepared for other cousins who might have needed a place to stay. They first thing I noticed was two pairs of shoes in the kitchen and a wallet on the table. I told my mom this and she figured the housekeepers might have forgotten them. (I didn't want to stay in a room where the housekeepers could overlook something as big as this.) Mom decided we would just go to sleep and deal with this in the morning. (We were very very tired.) So she opened the door to the bedroom. There was a person sleeping in our bed.
I marched down to the office to get this sorted out. But of course it was two a.m., so there was nobody there. I called the emergency number posted on the door. The woman who answered sounded a little annoyed that someone was calling her at two in the morning. Not as annoyed as I was that there was someone else in my room. She told us that there was nothing that could be done about it and she would talk to them in the morning. She told me there were other places to stay, and we should check the Claymore Inn. Do you honestly think that a hotel on the main street would have a room ready for us at two in the morning on a Saturday in July?? So we drove home. We drove an hour and a half to get home. It was two in the morning. We booked this room a month ago.
I would like to apologize to whoever was in that room, you must have been terrified if you woke up.
Management offered us a free room at a later date to make up for this, but I'd have to be crazy to stay there now. I'd be afraid that they'd give someone else a key to my room as well.

The service here was extraordinary, from all front office staff. Always a smile and accommodating special requests. Pearl is a priceless resource. She researched facilities that we're open off-season for us and gave great recommendations. Smiling. She went the extra mile.
And the breakfasts were awesome at the nearby cafe.
If you're staying in Antigonish, please stay here. You won't be sorry.

I had booked the room for 3 people and a small dog. When we arrived just after 9 pm, after being on the ferry from port aux basques all day, then driving 2 hours in the pouring rain, we were told that our dog could not stay. Apparently all of the pet friendly rooms were all booked to others, the front desk clerk was not at all courteous. She tried to get us to backtrack on the highway to another hotel. Now the room we had booked had no carpet but because there was carpet in the hallway(which was extremely old and dirty) we were not allowed to bring him to the room.We stayed at this hotel last year when we came through and did not experience any problems. The clerk did not even give us the voucher for breakfast we had to ask for it. I will not stay here again.

I stayed here with my family on the way back from P.E.I. And it was definitely not worth the cost. It is a very run down motel with a lot of work needed. It is also a very ugly area of town with terrible views from the window. You had to go to this little restaurant for your breakfast and the food was pretty bad. I definitely wouldn't stay here again.
