This is a very economical motel . The room was small but clean. We had a King sized bed. There was a table and 2 chairs .Bathroom had a tub with a shower. The room also had a fridge! We would stay again ! The staff were friendly.

The property is right off the main highway on the main road of Antigonish so you can hear the big convoys drive by but is otherwise surprisingly quiet in terms of traffic. There are a variety of food establishments to choose from within walking distance and it’s close to the University. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful but there is no continental breakfast included. Coffee is complimentary at the lobby but that’s about all you’re going to get. The rooms are located on the side and back of the property. Some if not all of the buildings stand only on cement blocks. When the people next door to you move around it can clearly be heard in your room. That’s not counting the tv, the people talking, the doors opening and closing and the banging on the wall when they move in their beds. You can compare it to being on a ground floor with someone above you but 50 times louder. It was that bad that I had to put in my ear plugs. You can throw in new linens, plank flooring, a flat screen tv and lamp shades all you want but these rooms need more attention and come with a musty smell. The beds are in need of serious upgrading as do the towels. What establishment carries brown towels these days? Are they clean? Are they dirty? Are they stained? Who knows..? If you’re a hard sleeper who just needs a place to lay your head for the night on a budget this place is for you. Otherwise do yourself a favour and spend the extra money at another establishment.

Our room was fairly small and the furnishings are not modern but the room was very clean. The beds are comfortable and the sheets were a lovely white cotton. Staff was friendly. The bath towels were very small!

Found this great little local hotel on our recent trip. Priced very reasonable, and the room was nice and big. Very clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a hotel in Antigonish or on a trip to Cape Breton. Will be back again for sure.

we needed a place to stay for 2 nights after the hurricane and could only find this place open for business. we were not expecting much for the price but were very impressed by the the large comfortable well equipped room and the great staff attitude (david ) if all the homestead motels are like this we would not hesitate to use them again instead of more expensive options.

rooms are big, beds are very comfortable, and its very close to the university. Easy to find, easy to get to, and easy to park, get to your room etc. Only complaints are no hair dryer in the room and no breakfast in the morning, but that's a small thing.

Phoned from YHZ to reserve a room for 5 days and the young man(night clerk) waited until we arrived around 11pm. We were offered the corner room @ the front and spent the night there. The Manager allowed us to move rooms the next day with no problem and we borrowed a kettle too. Walking distance to ST FX. McDonalds located across the parking lot for morning coffee. Close to many fast food options. Grocery store / Walmart located within driving distance of approx. 5 min. Room was basic - clean & warm. New vinyl plank flooring. Wifi cut in and out however storms in the area may have been to blame. I have to agree with the others that the mattresses could use an update. Maid service was good to us with both ladies very charming.

There were two queen beds one was good but the other was terrible. It seemed like all the springs were failing. It was so noisy that every time I turned over it made so much noise that it woke both of us up. Unfortunately we did not find this out until very late at bedtime. By this time it was to late to ask to change rooms. When we checked out in the morning we spoke to reception about the problem, and who didn’t even apologise for uncomfortable night let alone come and inspect the bed with us to see what we were complaining about. Not good !! We were not complaining but just informing reception about the washbasin unit which was not attached to the wall and the tap was very difficult to operate as you had to pull it rather than turn it. It was really hard to get any water out and we were worried that it might cause a serious leak and flood. This information was met with by reception with ‘oh two complaints’. We were rather surprised by this reaction as we used a very polite way to inform them of the problems we encountered. Sorry guys but you need to up your customer service skills when responding to genuine problems guests have.

Closed located hotel to ST FX University located on the adjacent street of James Street. Within walking distance of the university. The rooms are small and dated but is a place to bunk down if you are visiting someone at the university of catching a sport event or just out for a night of drinking. Hotel runs around $100 a night check it out on your next ST FX stay.
