The answer depends on the cancellation policy for that particular reservation. Our normal cancellation policy for anyone booking a room for one or two nights is 48 hours. If a cancellation is received we will try and sell the room and if we are successful, will not charge for the late cancellation. We will charge for a night we cannot fill. We get reservations for multiple rooms for 1 or 2 weeks and they are made up to a year in advance. For these reservations we require 2 weeks notice and this applies to the entire reservation. The reason being that while holding these rooms, we turn away so many potential guests and at last minute it can be difficult to fill the rooms. Sometimes it may appear that we are charging for a room that was sold to someone else however, I assure you this is not the case. We are a small inn with just 8 rooms and a large, last minute cancellation has a considerable affect on our business. I hope this clarifies things for you.
