I assumed that Evergreen Inn would be motel quality. Instead I was delighted to open the door of our room to a beautifully well designed space with anything you could possibly need or want! There was a full stove and microwave in our room - not that you would need it for breakfast with the incredible spread laid out in the lobby and included in the cost of our room. There were robes available, a fireplace and thoughtful touches such as make-up remover and additional personal hand soaps provided (this is the time of Covid). It is the absolute perfect blend of hotel quality with the charms and thoughtfulness of a local Inn. Well done Evergreen! We will be back!

Pleasantly surprised by the personal touches in our room. This is a privately own Inn and the owner knew we were going to arrive a little later at night, they had the tv turned on, the heat at a very nice temperature, a welcome "breakfast basket" which included homemade scones & with a personal note. The room had a full functioning kitchenette, for anyone not wanting to eat out this is such a great option. We could not have asked for more and we will definitely recommend and return. Thank you to the owners for a wonderful experience. :)

We do appreciate you taking the time to write this review and that your had such a wonderful experience. When guests let us know they are leaving early in the morning we are happy to provide a breakfast basket as an alternative to our buffet style hot porridge bar and fresh baked scones/biscuits/muffins option.

It's the little things that count to make a great experience. We stayed at this lovely inn in June while we were on the East coast. I truly wish, we had booked a second night because this is a wonderful spot. Located conveniently close to Antigonish's main street, it is far enough away from the town to make it very quiet. We were welcomed and directed in because the day we arrived, the driveway was freshly sealed.
Our room had fresh cut flowers and the glasses were real glass, not plastic, like the majority of tourist accommodations we stayed at. There were two white robes and slippers placed in the washroom for our use. The property is clean and very well maintained. This is a true 'inn' in every sense of the word. Breakfast is included in a lovely little alcove and they serve freshly baked blueberry scones (my husband was in heaven) and also offer continental breakfast items. I needed an apple sliced and there is was, minutes after I asked. As a going away gift, guests are offered seeds from the Evergreen Inn's gardens. If you need to stay in Antigonish for business or pleasure, indulge yourself by staying here.

We booked this motel to ensure we would be supporting local small business while on a quick trip to Antigonish. We were pleasantly surprised with the lovely clean rooms, comfy beds. locally sourced bath products and cooking provisions available.
The AC in the room helped us enjoy the hot August evenings and Linda (our host) had plenty of delicious goods ready for breakfast. The blueberry scones, fresh from the oven were a real treat. The coffee was hot and plentiful.
With Covid concerns in mind, the rules for gathering your breakfast things were kept simple but we felt safe.
A lovely little outdoor sitting area was provided next to the motel. Being a little outside of town made for a quieter stay.
A special treat for me, an avid renovation fan, was the personal tour Linda provided of her home project near the motel. Such a sweet and personable couple!

Good job on helping us happily support local! Jenn and Dave

I stayed here for the night last week. The check in was super simple and the fastest I've ever had. As you walk into your room you feel like you just arrived in your home. They have taken every step to assure your stay is perfect. the rooms are very clean and have lost of extras including a fireplace. The next morning I enjoyed their hot breakfast they offer, the home cooking was beautiful, but the conversation was what made this stay one to remember. The host are amazing people. I would recomend this place toanyone that wants a pleasant experience.

When I read all the good reviews of Antigonish Evergreen I thought they must be exaggerated - but no, it really is a great stay. Even though the property is a bit older, it is well maintained and rooms are supplied with all kinds of thoughtful items - umbrella, lint brush (!), well stocked kitchenette etc. The rooms are a good size too. Breakfast was really good with eggs cooked to order and home baked goodies such as scones and banana bread. The couple who run the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The only hiccup is that Evergreen is perhaps 1 1/2 km from downtown Antigonish so you have to take the car in search of supper (but evening parking is free downtown). But an upside is that it is very quiet around the hotel and the view of suburban lawns etc is nice!

So much attention to detail by the hands on owners, make you want for nothing in this small hotel. Hand baked pastries for breakfast along with cereal, eggs and many other items come with the room rate. Quiet, comfortable and ultra clean rooms. Nice linens, bathrobes, towels, even disposable slippers! This place is #1 in town for a very good reason. They’re open year round too. Stay here!

A warm welcome even during Covid precautions. Entered the charming lobby to find a gorgeous setup for evening homemade soup (delicious) and great breakfast. Picked up the package with room key and info. Upon entering the room, the heat was on, the desk light was on and TV featured soothing countryside views. Nowhere else we have stayed over the years has a handwritten note to welcome us. Everything is immaculately clean. There are so many little touches in the room that make it more comfortable - a lint roller, charming artwork, sunflowers, fireplace, - we could go on and on but we highly recommend you find out for yourself.
People say it's a home away from home, but it's better! At home, we don't have Linda to spoil us with her homemade goodies.
Thanks for a great stay.

The Antigonish Evergreen offers clean, well-equipped rooms with no detail overlooked. The rooms are well designed with adequate space. Each unit has an assigned parking space. The location is within easy walking distance of the downtown core. Owner Linda is very helpful and had delicious, fresh baked blueberry scones along with bagels, toast, cold cereal and real porridge.

Was pleasantly surprised to see all the amentities and thought which went into the appointments in the room.
Small details which demonstrate that thought such as a hook on the wall just outside the shower so you don't have to reach for a towel and so many amenities.
I have spent part of my working career in front and back of house in 5 star hotels and I could not think of anything that they missed.
Breakfast was also a nice surprise to have fresh poached eggs.
I would go out of my way to stay here again.

Answer from Linda
Antigonish, Canada
The answer depends on the cancellation policy for that particular reservation. Our normal cancellation policy for anyone booking a room for one or two nights is 48 hours. If a cancellation is received we will try and sell the room and if we are successful, will not charge for the late cancellation. We will charge for a night we cannot fill. We get reservations for multiple rooms for 1 or 2 weeks and they are made up to a year in advance. For these reservations we require 2 weeks notice and this applies to the entire reservation. The reason being that while holding these rooms, we turn away so many potential guests and at last minute it can be difficult to fill the rooms. Sometimes it may appear that we are charging for a room that was sold to someone else however, I assure you this is not the case. We are a small inn with just 8 rooms and a large, last minute cancellation has a considerable affect on our business. I hope this clarifies things for you. If not, and you feel you were not charged fairly, please call me directly to discuss.
