This tired hotel is not recommended. I do not like giving a bad review but should discourage you from staying here. It has not been cared for in a long time, inside and out. The staff provided the absolute minimum, as directed by head office. Even the Chinese restaurant and bar had no liquor licence.

The hotel was booked thru Hotwire .com. We used that travel / reservation website in the past and got one of the hotels listed as possible. This time the Hearthstone Inn was not listed among the options. We were disappointed with the hotel given by Hotwire and we will never use Hotwire ever again. Hotwire review is 0 of 10. You have to pay in advance and they give you the hotel they want. Regarding the Hearthstone Inn, it is a 3 star hotel with friendly service. When we arrived the key of the given room didn’t work and we were given the Celtic room, which is decorated with the music instrument and music sheets. The room was clean as well as the bathroom. The hotel is fairly old and is in need of a good refit. That’s the reason of the review 3/5. The breakfast was not included and was $7 per person. We saw locals coming for breakfast to the restaurant. I was expecting a better hotel, but Hotwire disappointed us.

Stayed ... briefly June 12. Nice Staff, lack experience. Directed three times to different locations to get to room when it was right around the corner from the check in. Clean enough overall but AC did not work; indicated it was an old system and may take awhile to come on. It did not and the fan that they provided was old and noisy. It was 28'C inside the room and cooler outside at 23'C .. Asked to be moved, were unable to as they were full. (unlikely) ... checked back later and still unable to move. I ended up checking out and into another hotel (The RODD .highly recommend). Booked thru Expedia and refund is being processed. Other issues with room, which was a kitchenette, there was no dish cloth or towel, bath fan was clogged with dust, grab bar handle screws were rusty in shower and toilet bolts exposed. This room should not be even offered. The hotel is very tired looking inside and clearly has issues inside.

Staff are the only thing good about this place. I was put into the basement in room 121.. it was filthy. There was dust everywhere, the floor was not clean, the paint was peeling off the windows and walls. There was a lot of scuff/dents in the walls.. Got moved into another room downstairs which was a lot nicer looking but it was damp and smelled foul like mold I immediately had allergic reaction. The floors were filthy and under the bed had dirt and grime under it.. the bedskirts had stains I was afraid to sleep bc I thought I would see a mouse in my room. The damp musty smell kept me up all night I had to spray body mist to try and freshen the room. Pack allergy pills and allergy eye drops if you get out in those rooms. I got moved into room 206 this one was better and not damp or foul smelling. The air conditioner needs to be cleaned bc there was a lot of dirt in it. If you stay here bring your own water and snacks. They have a vending machine but no ATM to take money out. I had to use Skip to get water delivered.. There restaurant is closed on Mondays and they don’t have a liquor license so you can’t get a drink after a long day.

Oh dear. Bedding is scrupulously clean, but beds are awful. I’m in a room with two doubles and one of them bangs against the wall every time I move, making my neighbour very unhappy. No idea how to use the two remotes for the TV. No instructions and when I tried to call front desk, phone didn’t work. WIFI signal and security are very weak. Front desk polite but unhelpful. Tub drain is clogged, so water pools around your ankles when you shower. Towels are brown and have clearly seen many washes. All amenities are of low quality, decor worn and room has seen better days for sure. Very quiet at night, which is one of the few pluses. No idea where the photos on their site come from! I will not be returning unless serious upgrades are made, and cannot recommend.

My son rented a room for 150 tax included There was pubic hair all over the bed and looked like somebody was laying in it. My son said he had to take the blanket out of the closet and lay it on the bed since that was clean. I phoned the hotel to ask for another room and they want to charge me 89.00 plus tax. I asked him for a room with no charge due to the room being in a dirty condition and he said no. I will never nor my family will ever go back to this hotel. Shame on them. DISGUSTING

Picked this location because it was the most affordable. Upon walking into the room we noticed there was damage to the wall. The room it self was hallow, cold and stark. This room is not at all as represented online. very disappointing, will not be staying here again.

We have used this location in the past and had found it good for our needs however things have changed dramatically. We booked using booking.com but when we arrived, the hotel would not honour the rate. The restaurant that use to provide a good breakfast in the past is now gone and breakfast now consists of bagged muffins and bad coffee. When we checked in we were told the water was shut down for 50 minutes. When we asked for bottled water sufficient for personal hygiene...we were directed to the vending machine. Only through complaining did we receive a jug of water. The water was out for over 2 hours. So toilet flushing or showers were not available. After 1900 hours when the water was back, the TV would not work and had to be repaired. Will never be back.

Sure this was the place to stay in its day,,, but that has ship has sailed. From the outside, the place is falling apart! Check in was a challenge, would have been better if the girl on the desk could speak english. She did try, but not very hard! Inside is still in not to bad of shape, we were given a room in the rear of basement. Very humid and musty. Windows do NOT open... and no, there is not an elevator. No restaurants within walking distance, realize that does not matter to some. Kudos to them, they did try and offer a breakfast, fruit cup, nutribar, yogurt, and coffee. Not very good value for the money charged.

We booked this hotel on the pretense of having a restaurant bar, Hot tub and hot breakfast. All the ingredients of staying in a comfortable hotel. We arrived to be greeted by a staff member who was rude and very abrupt! We inquired about booking for supper and was informed the restaurant has been closed for 2 yrs!!!! The breakfast room also closed. The vending machines were out of order! i asked if they had any recommendations for delivery of food etc they told me No they don,t do that!!! There was no place to relax outside apart from smokers corner! and a court yard with limit chairs and tables. Breakfast was a juice box with a cereal bar and fruit! We had paid extra on booking this room as a treat for ourselves (Business king suite$233.43!!!) in respect of receiving a great experience and a get away to relax ! and we received nothing but stress. Avoid at all cost. Trading standards should be informed as this is a prime example of false advertising. We will be taken this further. Cant find anything positive about it at all.
