My husband and I arrived in the wee hours of the morning from a flight from Toronto. Anthony not only stayed up to greet us at 2:00 am but had fresh lemonade and biscuits for our arrival. In the morning we were awoken by the delicious smell of Roger's breakfast that he had prepared for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our many conversations with Anthony and Roger. They helped us plan our days around Sydney, provided a map with highlighted areas to visit, and even when we were leaving to go to Ingonish they provided a detailed map with routes to take and restaurants to eat at. We referred to this map as we toured the Cabot Trail often. As we left Glenngale Manor, we were given fresh baked muffins to take with us and even a gluten free lemon loaf for our daughter who had come to pick us up. Anthony and Roger's hospitality is incredible. They certainly go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable, exceptional, and memorable. Glenngale Manor reflects Anthony and Roger's amazing attention to detail in their beautiful decor throughout the house, individually themed rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, luxurious duvet on the bed and lines, soft towels, air conditioned rooms, spa like bathrooms, coffee/tea station, and an incredible outdoor space that is the perfect spot to relax during the day, and enjoy the sunset in the evening beside a table top fireplace. The manor is in a central location and within walking distance to downtown Sydney for shopping, strolling around the board walk and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Sydney. Thank-you Anthony and Roger for not only an incredibly positive experience but fantastic memories.

Our stay at Glenngale Manor was the highlight accommodation of our two week trip to Nova Scotia.
Right from the start, Anthony and Roger were phenomenal hosts. Communicative, kind and helpful.
Their place is stunning and cozy. We spent a lot of time exploring Sydney and the surrounding area but also enjoyed some downtime in their living spaces. We didn't want to leave!
We were fed beautiful, filling breakfasts, had access to tea and coffee all day and the fresh cookies and lemonade were such a nice treat. Our bedroom was well appointed with fabulous linens and fresh water, and our bathroom had the an extravagant soaker tub complete with bath bombs and salts.
Thank you Anthony and Roger for a truly wonderful experience. We'll definitely be back!

This review is tardy but still comes with some fantastic memories of a great stay!

Anthony & Roger were so welcoming into their beautifully modernised but still full of character early 1900's home. The house is tastefully decorated but very warm and welcoming which is a reflection of Anthony & Roger.

We were upgraded to a larger room, the James Joseph Suite as we were a mid-week stay and their only guests. They could not do enough for us! The beds were fantastic with beautiful linens. The bathroom and shower area was functional yet luxurious. They provided the regular toiletries but also had a loofah and lip balm which we've never encountered. Nice touch!

They have made a conscious decision to not have TV's in their suites so we were invited to sit in their TV room and watch the Blue Jays with a glass of wine. In hindsight, the weather was beautiful and we should have ignored the Jays and taken in their oasis garden and deck area. It was magical when we returned from being out for dinner that evening with the lighting and inviting furniture. We're sad that we failed to capture that opportunity.

Anthony and Roger are a tag team when it comes to the cooking. Anthony is the cook and Roger is the sous chef and moral support. There was an array of beautiful baked goods served with coffee to die for from a local roaster. The leftover baking was sent with us when we left and they even provided napkins for us! The breakfast was an egg dish that we were the guinea pigs for which suited us fine. Anthony modified it slightly and it was delicious. It was accompanied with ham and fresh fruit that had great flavour; an anomaly that late in the season.

We say the word "guest" but really, it was more like visiting a long time pair of friends! If you're looking for a place to stay where you really feel like you're special and valued, this is the place.

Roger and Anthony set a standard that will be difficult to surpass. Our stay at Glenngale Manor made our trip to Cape Breton amazing. So many thoughtful touches: from their personable and helpful demeanour to their carefully curated and beautifully decorated home, the delicious and filling breakfasts and spotlessly clean rooms, with many little things that made us feel pampered (beautiful linens, thick towels changed daily, comfortable beds, lovely toiletries, fresh drinking water, etc.). A guest who was there at the same time said, I would come back here just for a personal retreat. We would agree.

This was our home away from home to tour Cape Breton mid-august 2023. No doubt that Roger and Anthony made us feel at home right off from the first greeting in the parking lot up to the last second we had (unfortunately!) to leave after 5 days. Our room (Joseph Jame suite) was spotless and exquisitely decorated that it could make into a reputable magazine. No compromises were made to quality and details from the water provided into the room to the (very!) comfiness of the bed. We enjoyed every minutes and every bites of each breakfast that seemed coming out from masterchef (the breakfast version!). Each morning breakfast were different and not to mention extraordinary pastries. Anthony and Roger were also quite helpful in guiding us into the island to proper itineraries, do's and don't. A must stop and stay in Sydney...there B&B is not just of high quality but there human touch is more than genuine.

Gluten free breakfast, Cleanest B&B we have ever stayed in .The century home is solid and no noise can be heard inside ,not even in a hurricane! We entered to a roasting fire and fresh warm cookies coming out of the oven upon our check in. So warm and cozy and the beds are perfect with even double duvets and pressed sheets. Everything is provided in toiletries even bath bombs and salts.Such a well thought out service provision that tics all the boxes who needs an information centre when the manor has everything your heart desires. We had a wonderful rest and delicious breakfast .Thank you for your welcoming home and service !
This place is the icing on the cake !

This is an excellent place to stay, we were pampered from the moment we were met at the door. Anthony & Roger welcomed us into their gorgeous home. They have spent a lot of time on attention to detail. The rooms were all very, very well appointed, the food was all gourmet quality, you would not walk away from this table ever hungry. They are very knowledgeable about Cape Breton, making great suggestions of where to stop or where to eat. We were made to feel like well loved family or friends, you would not be disappointed!

Roger & Anthony made our stay in Sydney the best experience we could have ever asked for and more! When looking for a place to stay in Cape Breton, we were excited to give this charming b&b a shot - and oh my goodness we are SO glad we did! Roger & Anthony made sure that we had everything we needed from the first moment we walked in the door. They went above and beyond for each guest, made some incredible breakfasts and offered really great tourism tips for the days we went exploring! In the evenings, we came back to beautifully made beds and a cozy and comfortable atmosphere that made us never want to leave! We can't recommend this place and these two amazing people enough! Thank you Roger and Anthony for making this a highlight of our vacation! Can't wait until the next time we are back and can stay with you guys again! I will forever be dreaming of those delicious peanut butter cookies and lemonade!

Anthony and Roger are the best hosts, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk through the door. Their pre-stay communication was so very helpful in us planning our stay to Cape Breton that we extended our stay in Sydney from 1 to 3 days. They have worked hard to create an environment that is both comfortable and welcoming in all areas of their home. From the beautifully appointed room (and its grand soaker tub complete with locally acquired luxury bath amenities) to the deliciously prepared breakfasts of freshly baked treats and fulfilling meal, Glenngale Manor was the beginning of our Cape Breton trip and remains to be our favourite of all home away from home stops along the way.
