This is a charming inn with loads of charm and service. The room we had was quite well appointed with modern touches while maintain the historic charm. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a help yourself/make yourself continental type. Excellent location within walking distance of the cruise ship harbour, excellent restaurants and the downtown main strip of Sydney. Parking is a bit of an issue. We got a spot but there aren't many.
This is a bit different - there are no onsite staff, but they can be there in minutes. Parking is limited to two spaces in front of the hotel and a couple in the back. Breakfast is available, coffee was good. Remember to hang the sign outside your door if you need housekeeping - it is not automatic. Wifi was good. No elevator, so prepare to take your luggage upstairs. A few restaurants are in walking distance, as is the downtown area. Stayed here and visited Cape Breton Island, but it is an hour just to get to the Cape Breton trail. Short drive to Louisbourg.
Our experience in booking this room was second to none. Linda accepted our word and kept a room for us, unusual trust in this day and age. I have to say that we were very impressed also with the fact that we were late arrivals and she was there to greet us. The room itself was large and comfortable (great bed). The decor of the establishment was lovely. A very pleasant place to stay. Thanks Linda.
I had an extended stay at the Spanish Bay in Sydney. I stayed in one of their suites for about 5 months. In all my travels and extended stays throughout the world, I can honestly say, this was by fare the greatest experience I ever had. The two girls, Linda and Holly, are wonderful people and a staff that any employer would be extremely proud of. They take their job very serious all the while making each guest feel at home and welcomed. I would highly recommend for anyone to stay there. Even if it's just a one night get away for someone who lives local. I give the Inn and their staff a 5 star rating. Thank you Spanish Bay Inn for a wonderful experience.
This "boutique" type small hotel is located right by the waterfront boardwalk and the Big Fiddle venue. The reception is not manned, so you must advise them of your arrival time, but the response was excellent. Breakfast is self-serve continental style with cereals, yogurt, fruit (banana, apple), toast or bagels and beverages. The muffins and sweet rolls are placed out under glass the night before which was not appealing to me, but I recognized the cinnamon rolls as being a brand you could buy in any local convenience store. Our room was very comfortable with a King bed and a roll-away, two lounge chairs, a desk, fridge and microwave. It was clean, quiet and well-heated, with plenty of hot water. I would definitely return here.
