We were in a bit of a bind, having trouble finding a place to stay, we called and the woman said they had availability. We were first shown a room in the basement. It smelled musty and there was mold in the bathroom. We asked if there were other rooms and she had one on the main level of the house. The room was large and looked clean enough. There was a fridge in the hall way, and obvious University students staying as well. It turned out our shower had mold as well. A little maintenance would go a long way. Breakfast was just ok, and the other guests did not have breakfast with us, a little cold and not very welcoming.
I’ll start with the positive: location was great. Easy walk to Spring Garden and QEII and IWK. Parking is street parking only that can be an issue as it’s right near St. Mary’s. Breakfast wasn’t offered as oven wasn’t working but we did get a discount. I liked the separate entrance. Room was cold and it was complicated to figure out heat. Once I figured it out, it warmed right up. Bathroom did have mold in it. Upstairs was very loud when it was time to sleep. Tv was super loud and sounded like someone stomping on the floor. I would choose another B & B next time.
I had booked 2 rooms for 3 nights,my friends actually ran a top 5 star B&B in Bath. My room was in basement and there was mold in outdated shower and the tea and coffee supplies were outdated by years. The breakfast was unusual - small portions - Michelle and her husband obviously dont eat eggs - they should cook what they know best. The gardens need some tlc. I had showed Michelle the mold in the bathroom- i had to show her that the dehumidifier needed to be emptied and she did not once offer towels or take out garbage. On check out day, we talked to her about the poor quality and she offered a modest reduction in our room rate. I would not recommend anyone stay here.
We spent three nights at the Robie's End. Michelle and Leo were very gracious and provided a nice breakfast with different house guests that made our breakfast quite lively in sharing our assorted stops. The room was lovely with nice amenities. The location was terrific for seeing the city and the sites. We were provided with lots of brochures and ideas of all that Halifax and it's surroundings have to offer. We enjoyed our stop in Halifax and Robie's End.
quiet, close to hospitals, everything I need. The air is dry in the rooms, Im not sure of the heating system, maybe electric. They have baseboard heaters. The owners brought us breakfast right to our room.We had to be at hospital at 7:30 am,but they had no problem bringing us our breakfast to our room at 7am.It was a full breakfast & a lg coffee pot in our room,so there was no shortage of coffee.
I️ in general do no write no favourable reviews unless I️ feel that I️ must. This is an occasion that I️ am pushed to write a poor review. On the upside the location is great. However my room was booked months in advance and booked an extra night even prior to my arrival given I️ was flying a red eye and wanted an early check in breakfast and nap. When I️ got there I️ was told because I️ hadn’t checked in even though the room had been paid for they gave my room away, but fortunately had another room for me. Then was told there would be no breakfast during my stay because the oven was broken!!! As compensation I️ got 10% off....She did however give me a continental style breakfast that first morning and that was it. In regards to the room the bed was comfortable, but in need of cleaning. Dust all over the floor the rug looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in a long time had a very dirty feel to it under foot. Same went for the shower mat. The counters were at least clean. The description sheet about the B and B stated that the towels would be changed every 2 days, stayed 4 and no change of towels and no one came to empty the garbage. Once again I️ usually would not bother to write negative reviews but seriously avoid this place unless you have no choice. …
The King suite was very big with a large King bed and a twin. It was in the basement, but it had it's own bathroom and entrance. Everything was clean and the bed was comfortable. There were lots of pillows and blankets. There was a mini fridge and coffee and tea (with a coffee maker). The bathroom was very clean, including the shower. The owner was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was tasty and there was enough. Milk and juice were provided, as well as coffee or tea. For those who like to walk, it is a superb location. It is not far from downtown (30 minutes). It is quiet and safe, so walking at night is no problem. It is across from the university. Parking is free and safe.
The location of this B&B was great! I appreciated the parking space which allowed us to walk to the attractions located downtown. The room, located on the bedroom level, was roomy and appeared clean. BUT...the ensuite bathroom was frightening! There was lots of extreme black mold around the shower, the ceiling, and around the taps and the sink. I do not think that this accommodation should be available until this mold is professionally removed. The Kitchen was not clean. We were not aware that there were 2 dogs on the premises. Communication with the B&B hosts was very poor prior to the visit.
Robbie's end has two rooms for rent, the one on the main floor looks very nice, but the one in the basement where we stayed, has a very strong musty smell. The shower has black mold on the inside low edges. When we arrived, the smell was very strong. The dehumidifier hadn't been emptied and was full. I emptied it twice over our 2 night stay. The breakfast was ok, eggs with bacon or hot dog-like sausage. The toast was packaged bread and the jam was packaged Kraft grape or strawberry. We left all the windows open and the dehumidifier on while we were out which improved things, but when I mentioned the smell to the owner she didn't offer to do anything . The basement room has a king size bed and a single bed . It is very spacious.
Our room was in the basement but did have windows. You reached it through a lovely garden where there were seats if you wanted to sit out. The room was lovely with little extra touches, apart from tea and coffee, such as bottled water and mixer drinks in the fridge. For our free breakfast we arranged the time we wanted it with Michelle and she cooked it while we waited, You eat in their dining room and they were so hospitable. The breakfast was lovely, a cooked breakfast and with fruit, muffins or pancakes too. A lovely place to stay.
