The Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel is celebrated for its superb waterfront location, which is within easy reach of local attractions and dining. Guests consistently commend the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, though views and certain amenities receive mixed feedback. The hotel's array of amenities, including the unique concierge lounge, is well-regarded, and the service is often described as friendly and professional.
While the atmosphere is somewhat diminished by melancholic music, the lobby area is still appreciated for its beauty. Opinions on value for money are divided, with some guests finding the experience worth the expense, while others expected more for the price paid.

Detailed Reviews
As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member it is always nice to receive the recognition when one checks in. Certainly the case at this property. Our room had a partial harbourview, however it was more of a view of the tower next door. Not an issue though as we were not their in the daytime to look out the window! The room was perhaps a bit smaller than what I had experienced at many other Marriott properties but again, not an issue. It was well appointed with everything working. Most importantly, a comfortable bed and a bathroom with appropriate lighting and a good shower. All was achieved.
We know that COVID did have an impact on housekeeping however anything required was gladly provided including additional bottles of water.
Restaurant - breakfast was sometimes a bit of a challenge in that there were staffing shortages therefore lineups to get in and then once there, wait for someone to serve you. Day one took a bit of time however Days 2 & 3 we had the same server who looked after us quite nicely. Thank you1
The location being next to the wharf & boardwalk provides an opportunity to experience many other F & B offerings accessible throughout the day. One can also venture away from here and just two short blocks away to experience some other maritime food offerings.
Casino- if you are adventuresome the casino is just a short walk either inside or outside from the hotel. Great entertainment for those who feel lucky!
Definitely would stay at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront again.

We only stayed 2 nights, but everyone at this property did their best to make sure our stay was memorable. From Jon and Jeff Dennison at the front counter to Danielle in the restaurant to the ladies cleaning the room, everyone was professional and welcoming. Everyone also had their masks on, staff and guests, and kept wiping down the common areas. We felt very safe and well protected
A great location as well, right on the waterfront and downtown. We shall return!

Was on a Caravan Bus Tour of the Maritimes and stayed at the Marriott Harborfront in September for 2 nights at the beginning of the tour and two nights at the end of the tour. It is in a great location. There is a pathway (Pedway) from the hotel to Scotia Square that has stores and a food court. There is even a Dollarama store where they sell soft drink cans for 2 for a dollar. It was great to stock up our fridge in our room with cold drinks. There is also a casino that can be reached through the pathway. I thought it was faster to walk outside to get to the Scotia Square. The Marriott is also on the waterfront, which is close proximity to all kinds of restaurants, Ferry dock, boat rides, The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The Bluenose 11 was in port when I was there and was able to go on to view. Lots of Muskoka chairs outside the Hotel facing the water if you just want to relax or go for a short or long stroll, walk or jog along the waterfront.
We had a nice large room facing the front of the Hotel on the 2nd floor. Construction is going on right across the street from the Hotel. Ugly view but it did not matter as we were out all day. It was great the room had a fridge which had 2 bottles of water inside. The only negative was the room does not have a safety deposit box. (We were told some rooms do have safety boxes on 6th floor). Plus, I found there was no hooks in the bathroom to hang anything.
The Hotel restaurant is quite good. We had each morning the "All Canadian Breakfast" and for dinner a nice piece of Salmon and the Seafood Stew.

I made reservations for 3 nights at the Waterfront Marriott in Halifax and was guaranteed a tub in the bathroom (that I needed for medical reasons). However, when I checked in with the front desk clerk I was told that there were no rooms in the hotel with tubs! The night manager overheard and informed me that there were a few rooms with tubs however they were more than double the price. So disappointed in the nonchalant attitude of the false promise and false advertising. The website still claims that their rooms have a tub/shower combination. I ended up paying an additional $75 + taxes per night in order to have the luxury of a tub. Be very wary of what you are actually reserving and paying for.

This is a really great location if you want to be on the water, it’s right on the gorgeous Halifax seawall walk near so many restaurants, attractions and right next to the Ferry port to Dartmouth.
I stayed here for a conference (7 days) and while the rooms were upgraded ands quite contemporary, the conference floor is quite old school. We were quite disappointed in the food but the actual restaurant in the hotel was really good (great fish and chips!!)
My room had a wonderful Koehler rain shower with a big shower wand and it was a daily joy, stand up, big and bright.
The room was good, lots of plugs and the free water was much appreciated.
The main reason I bumped them to four stars was that the staff so consistently went OVER and above for our conference and when I needed help, it was memorable.
I was kind of annoyed the artisan coffee place in the lobby feels like is NEVER open (it’s only open in the mornings) but everyone was raving over the quality and upon trying it, I do agree. They also sell specialty soda.
The hotel tuck shop does not have gouging prices, which was nice too. But not a lot of selection.
Nice place, great views, awesome staff.

Stayed 5 nites. Good location at boardwalk. Outside bar Happy Hour nice. Saw musicians there 1x. Room prices a bit on the higher side. Our king room was comfortable/functional. Having a fridge was nice. When asked staff supplied water, slippers, robes extra towels etc. Really AWFUL view. And to use blackout blinds on tiny window we had to climb on sofa . Upper portion of window is blocked? Why? Breakfast was good & service was very nice. Two breakfast choices included juice & coffee. Front desk pleasant but didn't offer ANY hotel information on check in and NO Halifax information until asked. We don't know what other hotels look like inside but on price alone aren't convinced the higher price was worth it. Except for location Halifax Harbour Front Marriott didn't really meet our expectations. Halifax is pretty walk-able you probably can stay anywhere.

Response from Halifax Marriott, General Manager at Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel
Responded Jul 18, 2022
I appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us marianCSL. I am sorry to hear of your experiences at check-in and that you had not enjoyed the style of your room. I can certainly understand the importance of providing information for both the property and Halifax when checking in and I sincerely apologize that this was not your experience at our property. I have shared your experiences with our leadership team as this certainly is not the experience we wish for our guests at our property. I am glad to hear however that despite this you were able to enjoy your time with us as well as your time in our Stones Throw patio for happy hour and our Harbourstone restaurant for breakfast. Thank you once again for taking the time to share your experiences with us.

It’s a clean hotel, but is that worth $250/night? The room was spacious and well maintained. However, I travelled 1500 miles to get to Halifax on vacation. I was not properly treated. As a loyal lifetime Marriott Gold Elite member, I was aghast that my room had a view of the rooftop of an adjacent building. I couldn’t tell if I was in Nova Scotia or New York.
I called prior to my arrival asking for a low floor, king bed and a water view. I provided her my Bonvoy membership number. The receptionist expressed optimism. On my arrival 5/13/2022, the Marriott Harbourside assigned me Room 308. After I saw my room, I immediately expressed my dissatisfaction with the room.
I visited with hotel management and asked: A. Where is the harbor? All I can see is a concrete canyon and rooftop air conditioners. B. Where is the consideration given to a lifetime Gold Elite Bonvoy member like myself when upgrades were provided? C. I am part of the Silversea Luxury Cruise group and we used Marriott as the pre-cruise hotel; that’s a great revenue generator and that should count for something. D. I made my reservation last year and called 10 days ago to assure my requests were considered.
Here are the takeaways from my conversation with the manager: 1. You were part of the Silversea group and we assigned rooms by a “run of the rooms” process. TRANSLATION: My calls, requests and status means nothing. 2. We appreciate your 20 years of loyalty and status as Gold Elite Lifetime Bonvoy member. Unfortunately, we are completely sold out and unable to offer you an upgrade which is only available when space is available. TRANSLATION: Marriott has diluted your status as a result of adding several more tiers above your status, so don’t expect to ever get an upgrade. Moreover, it is not convenient to fulfill your request. Heck, you must think we care about customer satisfaction. 3. There are several upgrades we provide to our Gold Elite members - 500 thank you points per stay, free wifi, and the chance to enjoy another stay at Marriott. TRANSLATION: This Marriott requires the member to redeem 45,000 points for a one night stay – the 500 points is not very significant when I paid $250.00/night. In short, Marriott Harbourside thinks their customers are idiots and unaware of the real world around them.
I closed by expressing my disappointment that having travelled a long distance, the Halifax Marriott was at ease throwing me in a lackluster room, at a high price and by stating “they made no promises”. Management is inflexible and shows no creativity. I was offered 5000 points to address the issues. How naïve, did they not understand my issues? Rather than “fix” the issue, their approach is to paper over it. That this is viewed as an acceptable solution suggests management needs an intervention.
It deserves to be said, most of the employees were very friendly and welcoming, but, this hotel should be avoided for anyone that expects a top tier experience commensurate with their room rates.

Responded May 14, 2022
We truly appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention and we are terribly sorry to learn that your recent visit was by no means that exceptional experience that we take such great pride in delivering. As one of our Gold Elite Marriott Bonvoy guests, we are incredibly grateful for your loyalty and want you to know that this is certainly not a reflection of our genuine appreciation for you as one of our guests. Your satisfaction in extremely important to us, HEM47EssexJunction, and again we are sorry that we fell short of both your and our expectations.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at this hotel midway through our Maritime vacation. Our previous nights had been in small inns/motels which were fine but I was ready for this. Walking into our room was an ahhhhhhhhhh moment. We had a Watefront room with king bed and it was perfection. The bed was situated to look out over a large window directly on the water - beautiful sunrise view without even getting up. The room and hotel were spotless. This was our first vacation since Covid and we felt very safe and comfortable here. Housekeeping is on a request basis. We had it one morning, left a note for extra towels and coffee and then we were fine for the rest of our stay. Front desk staff were friendly and efficient (even when the man at the next counter was losing his mind because his big hopped up truck wouldn't fit in the underground parking and they nicely told him he would have to find parking somewhere else...not sure why that was so difficult to understand). Parking was $25 a night, in and out privileges . Hotel and parking was easy to get to. The location right at the end of the Halifax Boardwalk is perfect for a stay in Halifax. Many restaurants and shops right there. The Citadel is a short walk (although up a very steep hill). The ferry to Dartmouth, the Wharf where boats go to Georges Island - all very close. I highly recommend this hotel.

Enjoyed our stay at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel. Small hiccups on checking in but these problems were quickly dealt with by the duty manager.
The hotel is at the northern end of the boardwalk which is probably one of the nicest and most varied boardwalks in the country. Halifax has certainly gone to town to make its visitors welcome and entertained.
The hotel was clean, tidy and the rooms well serviced with all necessary requirements for both business guests and tourists. The restaurants had a wide choice on the menu and there were opportunities to eat either inside or out. All menu items were very reasonably priced and we particularly enjoyed the very attentive but unobtrusive service we received in all areas of the hotel.
Note that the Hertz hire desk is no longer situated at this hotel but at the Westin at the other side of town.
When we’re back in Halifax this will be our number one choice of places to stay.

We spent 3 nights at the Marriott Halifax Waterfront on our vacation through the Canadian Maritimes. The hotel was comfortable and clean, and offered consistently great service. It was pricey, however (~$430/night) so that was certainly my expectation.
An unexpected surprise was their excellent concierge lounge for Marriott Bonvoy status-this is the first one I’ve experienced that offered table service and a menu-the food was excellent and much better than what’s typically on offer buffet-style at US Marriotts. Parking in the attached parking garage was also convenient and easy to deal with.

Please call the hotel on your own. This way you will know for sure. Hope this helps.
We took a taxi. It's a flat fee of $72 Canadian dollars. About $52 US. It took a half hour.
Pretty personally specific questions. Best phone the hotel.
You can walk through the Pedway to and from the Metro X bus stop, a simple walk and this is the least expensive way to get to and from the airport. Halifax Transit operates its MetroX service from downtown to Halifax Stanfield International Airport. The #320 bus operates every 30 minutes during peak morning (6 am to 9 am) and afternoon (3 pm to 6 pm) times. The regular schedule departs every 60 minutes. Fares are $3.50 for adults/students and $2.75 for children/seniors. Exact fare is required. Change is available at the Security Administration Office on the ground level. Monthly passes are available from the Ground Transportation booth in the arrivals area at a cost of $111.00.
Depends on what room you get. Reserve a larger suite.
