The Halliburton was welcoming when you first enter. The lovely lady who was at reception was very informative and polite. I had reserved a Petite Room which was anything but petite. Very spacious room with a very comfortable double bed, an immaculate bathroom and an old fashioned flare. It had an armchair and a bureau for your clothes. A TV was on top. I was located on the top floor which was very quiet. I will return again as it beats out any Air B and B I have ever stayed in in Halifax. The price was right as was the downtown location. Parking was available both on the street and in the Inn’s lot.Fabulous!!

This is a charming Inn. It is a heritage property so it has a front library room for morning coffee, carpeted stairs, and charm. The front desk staff are very helpful. It is located within walking distance of the Halifax waterfront and attractions. We had a room with a queen-size bed, a traditional upholstered chair, dresser, tv, closet. The bathroom was immaculate. The shower had a rain setting and plenty of hot water. There are no elevators. All the rooms in our building were up stairs. This may be a challenge if you have ambulation issues or heavy luggage. If you bring a car they have free parking for guests.

Everyone reads reviews before they book a place to stay. And even the best places have a small percentage of bad reviews. The Halliburton is one of those places. One of the best in Halifax with a few bad reviews. Do yourself a favour. Don’t waste your time trying to figure out if there’s any merit to the bad reviews. There isn’t. Just understand : -they have 3 floors and you might have to carry your bags up an historical staircase. So pack lighter, Princess! :) -It’s a classic older building so there will be some creaky floor boards and the inside walls aren’t made of concrete like the sterile, corporate chains with zero personality. So if you’re a light sleeper, turn on the white noise app or bring ear plugs. (Although I didn’t find noise an issue at all. Party peeps don’t stay here!) I’ve lived in 4 countries and been fortunate to have travelled all over this incredible world. So, to summarize, BOOK THE HALLIBURTON NOW. Class/Vibe/Comfort = 8.9 Location = 8.5 Staff = 9.7 (Sorry, I just don’t give 10s) Like everywhere, it’s the people that can make or break a place. Isabelle - you gave me the warmest greeting and were incredibly accommodating. Phenomenal first impression. Better than most of the 5* locations I’ve wasted money on. Thank you. Sofia, if I was hiring I would figure out a way to clone you and hire all of you! Classy, engaging, professional, warm and authentic. So rare! You will make a difference on this planet. So, to whomever runs this place, treat these two well or you will loose two of your key assets! (If you’ve been wondering - yes, give them a raise.)

Close to the wharf area where the restaurants and Maritime Museum are located. Nice room with excellent bed and pillows. Brick building pictured in the ads is the main building. There are two next door buildings, not connected to this one, that comprise the hotel. We were in one of those. Very steep stairs. Not for the infirm. Breakfast was extra and didn't amount to much. Had to select items from a limited list the night before. We passed.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay - We are glad to hear your enjoyed your room, our hotel, and our location! We do our best to make it clear on all booking platforms that we are a historic property without an elevator, but we always encourage anyone looking to book a trip to reach out to hotels directly if they have mobility concerns. Our staff is available to help with carrying bags, and where possible we can block folks into lower level rooms. Regarding breakfast, while we appreciate your opinion, folks who -have- chosen to order the breakfast option have expressed that it was ample. Most items are made fresh, locally, if not in house. If you have a specific idea of what you might like to see on the list of breakfast offerings, don't hesitate to reach out. Wishing you safe travels!

The place has charm and the staff are helpful and welcoming. The location is good. Parking available. The room was nicely decorated. Drawback is a limited breakfast and no lifts. We were on the second floor and needed help with our luggage. So if you have an aversion to stairs this might not be the place for you.

Hello, and thank you for reviewing your stay! We make it as clear as possible on our website and on all booking platforms that we don't offer an elevator/lift - we highly encourage travellers to review the accessibility of hotels before booking. At the same time, our guest service team (as you noted) is always happy to help with luggage to make this easier for our guests. Wishing you safe travels!

The location of this hotel is perfect, short walk to watershed front, 15 minute walk to City Gardens, 10 minutes to the Via station and best of all a 2 minute walk to a great blues bar. We booked the suite that was in a walk out basement and while it was very spacious it was dark and damp. The bathroom is in need of renovation, the grey tile grout was black, the shower was ugly (see photo). The patio was not very welcoming and was not somewhere I would choose to sit. Then even basic things like opening the from door was difficult and needed all your strength.

Thank you for sharing your feedback - we're glad to hear you enjoyed the proximity to much of what Halifax has to offer. We're disappointed to hear that you didn't enjoy your guest room - we do have several rooms on the ground level and above that offer more natural lighting.

A little disappointing. The location is convenient and the bedroom fine but the place lacks atmosphere. The dining room has closed due to staffing problems and the whole mood is one of decline. Breakfast must be ordered by tick box (5 items only!) by 10pm but delivery time to the dining room and contents are unreliable. I have never stayed in a hotel where cornflakes and toast are not on the menu! The lounge and dining room are attractive, if moribund. The staircase area is poor and hard work. Overall our stay was satisfactory but the waterfront chains would be our choice for a return.

Hello Susie - We don't attempt to emulate large chain hotels, which we make clear in our advertising. Each room is individually appointed, and unique - reflecting the character of each of our three historic townhouses. We have heard consistently from guests that 5 items for breakfast are ample, as these items are mostly quite substantial in nature (ex : overnight oats with berries and yogurt). It sounds like a Marriott or similar property would be a better fit for your desires - we wish you safe and comfortable travels in the future!

We spent four nights here. It is comfy and very quiet. This is a busy part of town with lots of street traffic, but we didn’t hear it thanks to wonderful insulation and windows. This is a great location within an easy walk to the harbor. Well maintained and nicely staffed.
