My Husband and I recently stayed over a week at the Waverly Inn in Halifax. This was such an amazing place. It was as if we stepped back in time to the 1800's or early 1900's.,,the decor was beautiful...antique all the way. The Inn was also decorated with old fashion decorations for Christmas. Absolutely breath taking. The rooms were comfortable and unique. The staff was the friendliest and most helpful ever....made us feel like family, Enjoyed hearing the history of Waverly Inn including frequent visitors when in Halifax was Oscar Wilde and PT Barnum Bailey of the Ringling Brothers Circus. We plan to visit Halifax again and Waverly is where we will stay, Thank you staff and Happy Holidays!
Lovely hotel with old fashioned furniture and fittings indoors which takes you back to a different era. Spotlessly clean rooms , friendly staff and last but not least, very convenient for Downtown Halifax and it's amenities, it being about a 15 minute fairly flat walk along Barrington St. Railway station also close at hand for folks travelling by train.
It is such a pleasant surprise to find some historical & original features in this hotel. Our room did lack a little comfort but I think it was because of the very high ceiling and lack of view from the window. I love the character of the building & it was in an excellent location, however some decor looks a little tired and needs some attention. The breakfast left a lot to be desired but then it was included in the price, as was the parking. A big bonus. The hotel stay was definitely better than average :)
We stayed at Waverly Inn for 2 nights during our visit to Halifax. There is a very nice Victorian atmosphere. We stayed in the Oscar Wilde room. It is a very convenient location. It has Free parking. They have complimentary breakfast. (Todd was very nice except He was too efficient.)😊 The housekeeping staff especially Laurie was very friendly.
*This place is not suitable for people with walking disabilities because they do not have an elevator to go up the floors.
I don't normally have to stay at a hotel in Halifax as I have a sister there but on occasion I do. This time there were 3 of us, my SO and her cousin who had just come in from London.
There is good reason as to why the hotel has a Certificate of Excellence
This hotel has character, it is in a great location, near restaurants, pubs, cruise ship terminal and a bustling farmers' market. Parking is free which was great for us. You can walk almost anywhere in the area. Breakfast was also included.
The only thing I caution is that my wife and I had a double bed rather than a queen bed and her cousin ended up with a slightly larger bed. We should have just swapped but it was for 1 night. I can't rate the quality of the bed as it wasn't the best for the 2 of us. It seemed comfortable enough.
The hotel was very accommodating as our visitor had to keep his insulin chilled. The hotel put it in their fridge without any issues.
The hotel is very competitive in its rates so that was a plus for us.

Thank you for your interest in the Waverley Inn. Our open air, off street lot provides convenient parking to the hotel. Our downtown location is just 5 blocks from the city centre and 3 blocks to the waterfront boardwalk. With limited public parking downtown and an hourly rate around $3 walking or using the city buses is far easier and more affordable.
