Detailed Reviews
I do not know about what others may have experienced but we were very pleased with our stay. I was looking for a budget stay so did not have overly high expectaions. I had a medical issue to attend to in the city and wanted a good night sleep before hand with no stress. I got all that and more. Beds were really comfortable, and the room, bathroom and entrance was very very clean. The room had a wonderful scent when we entered not the normal stale hotel smell. The staff was fantastic. We even had an older room I was told and that there are newer rooms being renovated at this time. We even had a light breakfast included in the price and the cafe was open early and the staff were very helpful dispite the early hour of the morning. No it is not the Ritz but I would certainly stay again without any hesitation.

First off, the staff are top notch for a property with 60 units. Guests are still made to feel like they are staying in a cozy, family run business, despite having to adapt to a post_Covid reality (the breakfast is more than adequate considering the restrictions placed on them). The rooms are above par if you factor the nightly rates charged for a similar quality room in the downtown. I guarantee you, this will be my new go to place when I travel to Halifax from now on. I’m so glad I decided to book with them (a king suite for less than a double queen at my old spot). Totally worth the chance/change. Kudos to the housekeeping and front desk staff; a wonderful combination that equaled a great stay!

We stayed at the Coastal Inn Halifax for two nights. Check in was quick and easy and the staff friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast was pretty basic. The location gives easy access to going into downtown as well as out of town.

I booked this hotel in advance for the tenants' of my clients as I was selling their house and wanted the tenants to be comfortable for the weekend while we showed the house. I booked the king suite because there were 5 of them. When I booked I mentioned they were a family and bringing a small dog. No issues. When they went to check in, they downgraded them to a regular room because that was apparently the only pet-friendly room. Even worse, they wouldn't credit me and money even though the price difference between the kind suite and the standard room was $40. Dawn was extremely rude on the phone and as someone who has worked in customer service for 15 years, and had planned to use this hotel to put my clients up multiple times, I will NEVER use this hotel to book clients to stay in, ever again. Really really disappointing.

We are very sorry the stay for your clients did not go as planned. When our guests are booking through a third party online, it is important to let the hotel know directly of any requests such as having a pet. When booking , there is always an immediate response to let you know what to expect or when to contact the hotel especially with pets as we want to make sure we are able to accommodate them before they arrive. It is unfortunate that the your request do not get entered when the reservation was made through the third party. When your clients showed up, we were able to accommodate them quickly by finding them an available pet room. It may not have been the same room type as previously booked, and we apologized for that, but that room type was not available. We did change the rate accordingly and it was a very small difference between the 2 room types . Also there was a pet fee of $25 per per per stay (max. 7 days). Again, we are sorry you did not have a great experience in booking your clients. It is always best practice to contact the hotel directly after booking online just to make sure your requests were received so that it will be a smoother check in process for your clients.

If you can afford it, stay somrwhere else!
This hotel is dowdy and unkempt. We forfeited a night's fee rather than stay a second night. All I can say is that the beds were very cozy. Hire somebody yo supervise the breakfast room, do something about the curtains,@

thank you for your feedback. We do have a full time breakfast attendant, but unfortunately they were off due to medical issues We are sorry we were not able to re-stock any items immediately , but the staff certainly tried their best to keep up with the demands. We under went some renovations in a third of the rooms already, so unfortunately you were still in one of our older rooms with the curtains. By summer 2025, we will have 50% of the hotel renovated and will stop until after peak season and finish the rest next year.

This hotel is in a kind of an out-of-the-way spot, and you might miss it unless you found it online. We found the place to be an excellent bargain. The room was spacious and comfortable, the linens were clean and the staff were very friendly. The continental breakfast is marginal but edible. We will definitely stay here again as it is very close to all the shopping in Bayers Lake

Decent stay..ended up staying here on a whim as most hotels were full. Only room available was a suite . It was ok but carpet was stained. Staff were friendly though…there was a basic continental breakfast included. Easy access in and out. Lots of restaurants and shopping near by as well.

The hotel is absolutely horrible! I found a hair all over my bedsheets. The room was in compete mess , so clearly was not cleaned since the last visitors. The bedding was not changed. When I talked to the receptionist, he was not surprised at all. I guess that happens quite often in this hotel. The hotel could not offer us anything except new bedsheets. For its price this hotel is absolutely not worth it.

Quaint, Charming, Very Clean Motel, Looks good outside but even better inside. Full Continental breakfast which is exactly what it is. The staff goes beyond it self for the patrons. I would highly recommend this place to stay if you are in Halifax NS.

Hi,
Thank you for your question. Yes all reservations require a valid credit card where we will take a pre-authorization for the room and taxes of the whole stay plus top it off up to approximately $50 for a security deposit.
You can certainly pay cash upon check out and then we would delete the hold on your credit card.

Beany00 is correct. There is no public transportation available directly to or from the hotel to the airport. It is approx. 36 km from the airport and there are many taxis available. The price is approx. $60.00 to the airport and approx. $62.00 from the airport.
How far is the hotel from downtown Halifax? Is there public transportation available near the hotel?
Hi Katie,
We neglected to mention that the bus stop is actually across the street from the hotel.
Any other questions, please do not hesitate to let us know!
We have parking at the hotel. I believe when you are on other sites it just words it that way. You should have no problem. It is our own parking lot at the hotel.
Hi, is this hotel pet friendly. We have an approx. 38 lb. well mannered and very clean dog . Thanks!
Hi,
Yes we certainly are pet friendly on the first and second floors. Pet charge $10 per night to a maximum of $30 and maximum 2 pets per room. Please contact the hotel directly for rates. Thank you for your inquiry.
