Detailed Reviews
A belated milestone anniversary trip that was delayed by the pandemic. Our 3 night stay at Muir was well worth the wait!
Service was impeccable on all accounts. The wellness area was exceptional. We enjoyed a guided tour of the harbour on Little Wing. We spent our evenings at the bar. The room was well appointed. We had a balcony and a view of the harbour. The location of the hotel was within walking distance of all the major Halifax landmarks and several highly-rated restaurants.
As Marriott Rewards members we can honestly say that this is one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed at within the chain. We will be back to this hotel. The maritime hospitality is unmatched!

We stayed at the Muir Hotel in December and it was honestly one of the best hotels we have stayed at. From check in to check out it was superb.
The room was very nice. The bed comfortable, pillows were decent, enjoyed having the couch with table. The bathroom was huge with an amazing jumbo shower with bathtub. We ordered room service for breakfast every morning (the eggs benedict were AMAZING). We had dinner at Drift twice as it was so good the first night (and it was freezing outside) but we didn't feel like we were missing out. The food was so fresh and so delicious. We spent an entire afternoon relaxing in the multiple sauna's/steam room (our favourite was the eucalyptus steam room) and pool. Although we were there for work, we extended our stay an extra night to celebrate my birthday and they brought cake to our room. One day we left our cell phone charging cord out and the room staff wrapped up the loose cord in one of their cord keepers which was a nice touch. The staff at the Muir Hotel make you feel at home. And I look forward to hopefully visiting halifax again and staying at this lovely hotel. Hopefully in the warmer months so we could enjoy the waterfront.

This was my first time staying at a Marriott, but it was the best hotel experience I've ever had! Mobile check-in and out makes time at the concierge much less, and you can even keep tabs on your folio on the smart TV in your room. The service was impeccable, truly outstanding. Doors were always opened, turndown service and cleaning always available. I even requested another washcloth or towel and received it less than a minute later. That's not an exaggeration! I was so shocked. I was even helped to get transportation sorted from the airport, since my flights were delayed for several hours.
The rooms looked great and were very clean. If you give the curtains a tug (not too hard), they will open and close on their own after that. Really cool feature. The bathroom is a work of art I want in my home! The location was great - central to everything and provided excellent views of the water. There is a nice-sized indoor pool, gym, and art gallery. A spa is around the corner that they're associated with, but you can't charge those services to your room. Also, the salmon at Drift is delicious.

I stayed two nights in a room at the end of a hallway right before the entrance to the speakeasy. There were drilling and hammering noises during the day and early morning. I called the front desk to inquire, and they said they didn't know anything about it but admitted they could hear the noise over the phone. Nothing resulted from that conversation.
The room I had was very small - standard king - although others in the group (it was a corporate group) had larger rooms with sofas (not clear why their rooms were different because I'm sure we booked a block of rooms). The room was beautifully appointed; nice artwork and lighting. But the reasons I say it's not for business travel are 1) no desk chair (there was a bench and a club chair with a footstool); 2) no obvious desk (there was a wood ledge but no power outlets and a round table); 3) no power outlets by any working area (there were plenty of outlets by the nightstands. Bathroom had gorgeous stone but the rain shower didn't have enough water pressure. Water simply trickled down. Tried using the handheld showerhead but there was no place I could position it so that I could try to use it handsfree.
It had a giant minibar. The Fiji water in it was NOT free. If you wanted water you'd either have to call to ask for it to be sent or wait for the turndown service to get it.
Bed was super comfortable!
The lobby area was designed in a confusing way. The front desk is in a tiny space. Then there's the Drift restaurant. And a separate room that I guess is where you can hang out to meet people. Drift had very good food and service; food was expensive though.
I prefer the Marriott Harbourfront for business.

The Muir offers so much potential it has a great location and structure but at so many turns from the front desk to the room service, to the amenities, and issues with the room itself. They lack professionalism, courtesy and training.
Management from the very top (I spoke to the GM) all the way down the ranks have a lot to learn.
We spent two nights at this property and it certainly did not live up to what they promote on their website. You almost have to push at every level to get what they promote and they make you feel like YOU should be the ONE to FEEL privileged to stay there.
Muir there are other nice hotels in Halifax, it'll be awhile before we stay with you again.

So many excellent things to write about this hotel! We just came from the Ritz Montreal and didn't think that it could get better than that and then we experienced Muir and I have to say that we liked Muir better.
Excellent customer service; even before we arrived we were corresponding via email. I see a lot of emails about Marriot Bonvoy members; we had Virtuoso benefits and had no issues.
We stayed at in a Deluxe King and had a partial view of the Harborfront. Beautifully decorated room, had a stunning hutch where they displayed the various alcohol for purchase, floor to ceiling windows in the bedroom and the bathroom with automatic closure/open. Loved the decorator of the room and bathroom; very comfortable sofa.
Bathroom: Heated floors, loved the automatic motion sensor when entering the bathroom.
The bellman and valet service was excellent and very welcoming. Amazing service they provided and very friendly. The staff at the front desk was also very friendly.
Breakfast was delicious. Location was amazing and right by the boardwalk.
The spa facilities were available for use: halotherapy salt room (reservations required), infrared sauna and eucalyptus steam room. These were unisex facilities which was nice to go with your significant other. The steam room had a slight issue so you had to make sure you stayed at the back of the room and not at the front since hot water would flow through.
The doors to your room were all indented so you walked through a very small perimeter to get to your room which was brilliant!
The one thing that I regret was that I forgot to try the bathrobes; so very disappointed that I never did that since they looked very comfortable both outside and inside. Please send me one!! :)
Thank you for making our 25th anniversary so memorable! I may just have to fly to Halifax so I can just stay at your hotel!

An unbelievable experience with an incredible team! I felt like royalty from the second I pulled up to valet my car. You truly are on vacation (even while on business) with their “you don’t have to lift a finger” philosophy. I was travelling solo and I felt incredibly safe. The staff are impeccably trained, so friendly and very helpful.
I did not have a dinner reservation for adrift, but I was able to sit at the bar. They had a lovely host who made me feel so welcome by asking my name, introducing me to the bartender and ensuring that I was having a great time. From the wine to the lobster bisque I was engulfed in true Maritime hospitality.
I headed back to bed realizing that I had left my charger in my car. I asked the front desk if I could grab it and she assured me it was no trouble and they would bring it to me. Which they did, promptly and without any issue.
If I had one issue, and it’s not a big one, is that the pool was way too busy when I got there. There were parents with kids who paid no attention to them and these kids were throwing water, running into people
and had no respect for anyone else there (neither did the parents). As a young professional I was a little annoyed and frustrated but once they left the pool was a very relaxing place to be.
Honestly, this was an incredible stay! I was booked at the Harbourfront Mariott for a conference in July
and after last night changed it to stay at Muir. It is a very well thought design, then atmosphere is very methodical and it is worth every dollar spent!

We stayed at this hotel in march for 2 nights and thought it was the nicest hotel we have ever been in (and we have travelled a lot). I just celebrated my 60th birthday and wanted to come back for a 3 night stay. We booked it back in march and asked for a specific room overlooking the harbour and this amazing staff made it happen for me! They left a sweet note to thank us for coming back and wished me a happy birthday. It is still in our eyes the nicest hotel we have been in, starting from the valets outside to the front desk and the cleaning staff! You are all amazing! Just being in the room admiring the harbour view is beautiful! We are here till Friday and we are hoping to come back in November. Thank you thank you everyone. You guys are very very special! Thank you also to the drivers that brought us to our destinations in the rain!
Hope to see you all soon!

Overall rather disappointing for the room rates they charge. The steam room/spa area is quickly showing its age and needs some attention for upkeep. Housekeeping failed to replace wash cloths which is normally no big deal, but for these prices I have high expectations. Was rather disappointed no Marriott benefits were offered here. We did get points for our stay but no upgrade, no executive lounge and no breakfast. In short, you'll get better value for money elsewhere (and better service elsewhere for these sorts of rates).

Very nice property and great waterfront location. the most disappointing part of our stay is the fact that they no longer offer breakfast to their most elite Bonvoy members (Platinum and Titanium). I can't see how a hotel that claims to be as good as they are (AND charge over $600 per night) can treat their elite members like this. It might only be breakfast but it is a privilege that those members have earned and look forward to in a hotel stay. I can go to a Four Points instead, save hundreds (if not thousands of dollars depending on length of stay) and be offered a breakfast. Maybe they are trying to discourage Bonvoy members from staying at this property so they can make more money off charging non-members $600+ a night.
