The location of this hotel is the best! Within walking distance are all of the sights of Halifax. The roof top patio is a nice luxury as you can bring your own beverages up there to enjoy the sunset and there is a washroom available as well. The bar in the lobby sells Starbucks coffee, afternoon drinks, and many food options. Nearby are many popular restaurants, bars, pubs, shopping, parks, etc. Our room was comfortable (617) with plenty of space, a nice view, good AC, and fridge. The bathroom was ok needing a good scrub as the drain ran slow, the shower curtain did not stop all of the spray and there were limited hooks to hang towels to use again. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This hotel is situated a block from the boardwalk. Has underground parking and parking across the street. Balcony view is a joke, Don't bother getting it. Pool and room was clean and nice. Breakfast is not free, but all day Breakfast about 10 minute walk on the boardwalk, $7.99

The bedroom was very nice with a view on the water and the location of the hotel is excellent. There is a parking on site (25$ a night) which is very convenient but spaces are tight (wouldn't park a massive SUV there). There are several options for breakfast and they serve Starbucks coffees (cappucino, macchiato etc). Wouldn't recommend the oatmeal unless you like it made with water. And there was too much water which made it quite tasteless. The other options were very good. All in all, a very good choice for a stay in Halifax

We stayed at the end of May 2022 at the hotel. I booked 2 separate rooms for 4 nights each. We checked in, everything seemed fine except one room seemed a little musty, given that it had been raining when I landed, I turned up the AC and left for dinner. BIG MISTAKE. Upon my return after dinner, went to use the bathroom and was welcomed by the scent of sweat and urine, very similar to a public park washroom which has not been cleaned. I immediately went to front desk to request for a room change, but was told that the hotel was "sold out" and they could not change rooms for me. Housekeeping was sent up, tried to clean it and the smell still lingered just as strongly. Called the next day to request for a room change again, was once again advised that the hotel was sold out and there was nothing that could be done. As the guest, I was the one who asked for a "deep clean" to try to resolve the issue. Guest services provided no options or solutions and just went silent. The "deep clean" did not completely resolve the issue and I went to buy a can of lysol disinfectant spray to spray down the bathroom to mask the scent and to comfort myself and disinfect the bathroom myself. Which brings to question, how clean is the room itself. The day afterwards I also asked for a room change and was once again denied and provided the response "but we did a deep clean".
Now due to covid, rooms are not cleaned daily but there is supposed to be a "wellness check" on day 3. The room that was "deep cleaned" was provided with towels and the garbage emptied at one point. The other room, garbage was never emptied and towels never replaced. Coffee that was requested at front desk was never delivered.
I have reached out to Marriott to get some type of response, but have been left with a case number and no actual response, except the generic, please come again, we will try to do better. For the price of the hotel, I personally paid $2000 for the two rooms, choose something different. The brand Marriott does not seem to be consistent as I had hoped and the customer service is not any better by the hotel itself for the Marriott brand.

I’m sorry to be the reviewer that talks about the elephant in the room. We stayed for 4 nights. The recently renovated hotel had lovely decor and spacious and comfortable rooms. (No safe) Reception, Ashley - fast and very friendly. But….. we spent the first night without heat. Which happens - and they are aware. We tried 3 rooms that night, all no heat. The next day the heat was fixed in the first room we tried. The location of the hotel is Amazing! The 8th floor terrace has incredible views and is often empty. Now about the elephant (north side)……… We faced the construction side of the building. Omg. At 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. every day, all day - the track mounted drill rigs X 3 are pounding the bedrock, and the giant backhoes are moving the debris. I just need to tell you - if you plan on sleeping in, or staying in your room at length, this noise is intolerable. We should have moved (again) but after the first night - we just didn’t want to complain again. When the construction is done, we would stay here again.

The only positive thing I can say about this hotel would be the location and the rooftop. My booking indicated that I was supposed to get an upgrade. I did not. It wasn’t a big deal as I understand that was not guaranteed. What was disappointing was that it felt like I actually got a downgrade. The room I got looked nothing like the one that I booked. The coffeemaking facility in the room was bad and they did not even provide a complimentary bottle of drinking water which was standard in other hotels I’ve stayed at.
When I got to my room, both card keys wouldn’t work and it took some time before they sent out someone with a new set of cards.

We enjoyed our recent 3-night stay at this Courtyard Marriott in Halifax. Our room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and helpful. This hotel is in a great downtown location within easy walking distance to many restaurants and sights as well as the waterfront. We would recommend this hotel if you are planning to visit Halifax.

I stayed with a friend in this hotel for 3 nights. The room was not very clean but there were food remnants found that were not ours. The patio was a nice area but not much of a view. Was hoping to check out the rooftop area but it was closed unfortunately. The coffee machine in the room was dirty with a used filter in it. The bathroom was not very clean and had hair all in the shower and around the sink. The toilet clogged and there was no plunger in the room, we let the front desk know as we went out for the day and they resolved the issue. We did experience a bug bite of some sort which is alarming, especially in winter. Very expensive at $600 for having these types of issues with the cleanliness. I try to always stay with Marriot but will not be back to this one. Not a great stay for my first time in the province unfortunately. More than two coffees were not provided and had to be purchased from their Bistro.

Although this hotel is at one end of the waterfront it is well situated for all of the major attractions, Citadel (bit of uphill walk), Pier 21, cross harbour ferries and the variety of places all along. Some other hotels were a little further out and not central enough for us. This hotel seems to be the centre of a lot of activities, weddings, parties and business meetings, but also big enough to handle normal tourist traffic without disruption. We came here a day before our tour, very useful to be here for this. Breakfast service can be a bit hit and miss, depends on the number of tour buses staying, but quality was good, as was the evening meal we had on the waterfront.. The only issue we had was understanding some of the check-in staff, fortunately there was a manager on hand to assist. Alas, do not think will be in the area again, but still have no hesitation in recommending

I cannot say enough about the front desk staff who absolutely made this a memorable stay. Check in went smoothly and relevant information was provided. Our room was clean and comfortable with plenty of towels. We arrived in Halifax to meet our son and his fiance (just engaged 2 days prior), as well as our daughter and son-in-law to celebrate the engagement. We brought champagne with us, but wanted some nice champagne glasses. A simple call to the front desk and within 10 minutes the gentleman from the front desk arrived with 6 champagne glasses and a decorate ice bucket for the occasion. We went up to the outdoor lounge on the 8th floor - the absolutely PERFECT spot to celebrate and take pictures.
The hotel is also located within walking distance to everything you would love to see and do.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and will definitely return.

We stayed in a king bed room with pull out. The room and furniture were in excellent condition with a large HDTV and good mattress on the bed.
It was not recently renovated i.e, within a month or so. Probably was about a year old.
Hi Brian. I dont work at the hotel but stay there in November. I believe the 1st floor is lobby, front desk, restaurant/bar, pool, meeting rooms, and guest laundry. Im almost positive the sleeping rooms start on the 2nd floor, however, the hotel sits on a hill - first floor/lobby being at the lower street level (Lower Water Street) and part of the 3rd floor looks over the upper street level (Hollis Street) as if you were on the 1st floor. You could ask for the 2nd floor - the lowest # the sleeping rooms are on; or for a 3rd floor room looking over Hollis Street on street level.
Two notes: When you call to make your request, I'd double check my information just in case. Im 99% sure I'm correct after looking at the Google map, but better to be safe. Also, Hollis Street is the busier commuter street with all the early rush hour traffic, etc. so it may be noisier. I would ask about this as well.
Enjoy your trip - Michael
