Stayed for 5 days. Room was great with everything we needed. The complimentary breakfast choices and quality was awesome. Staff was pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommended and would stay here again.
We booked a corner suite on Aug 23/21. We have stayed at this hotel pre-Covid and it was great to be back and return to our favourite restaurant/pub as well. The staff is diligent with following COVID protocols including sanitizing every dish in our suite. The breakfast staff is also plating the food for guests. The hotel was very busy with returning tourists and the staff was working hard and eager to assist guests. Looking forward to our next stay!
Disgusting. horrible service. no one can help you. they over book the parking and hotel therefore you pay for parking leave to get food for 10 minutes come back to a full parking lot which you paid for. We asked them to go around and see that many of the cars did not have the hotel stickers therefore they should not be parked there. They did not care told me to park in front of the hotel where my car could get hit. they did NOTHING.
We stayed in the Homewood Suites for five nights recently on a trip to Halifax. I hadn't stayed in a hotel of the Hilton Chain for several years, and for the price was expecting something quite upscale. The breakfast was good, with hot eggs, pork of some sort and bread as well as the usual yogurt, fruit etc. The coffee was good, a pleasant surprise. However the breakfast room was crowded with families who stood in front of the stations for extended periods of time, and took copious amounts of food (such as 10-12 pieces of bread) and didn't allow the lines to move along. There seemed to be no business travellers. My biggest concern was the overall cleanliness of the building. In our suite, upon arrival the bathroom had obviously not been swept behind the door to the room in some time. You must arrange housekeeping yourself, and we purposely asked for the first time of the day (9:30) as we knew we would be out. When we returned at 12:30 with a very tired toddler in tow, the cleaner said that she was nearly finished. For some reason she took out the partially used shampoo, soap etc. but did not replace them. We booked this hotel because it had an indoor pool. We were the only family there on each occasion we went. The whole pool area was not very clean. I asked the front desk whether they had a book about the hotel, amenities, restaurant suggestions etc. but they did not seem to have one. Overall, good location but somewhat of a disappointment.…
Staff at front desk were very nice, price for room was great, they have a free breakfast which was awesome, every morning breakfast items were different, very tasty. When I arrived in the room I noticed a stain on the bedsheets and called front desk, someone was there within 3 minutes and changed them. I did notice that most of the chairs in the dining room where breakfast was served were very dirty.
We stayed with my family and daughters friends to celebrate her 11th birthday. The kids were huge fans of the pool and the look of the hotel in general. The rooms were clean and were stocked with everything needed for the stay. When did we manage to run out of towels housekeeping was a quick phone call and 5 minute refresh away. Being within close proximity of many different restaurants gave us (for better or worse) many different options to choose from for dinner. The complementary breakfast in the morning was a huge hit as well and helped us keep our costs down. Overall this was one of the best properties I've ever stayed at and would certainly consider staying here again for for business or pleasure.
We booked for one night only. On arrival we were told that the hotel had no power or water due to Hurricane Fiona. Scott Davies one of the Directors helped us out and booked another hotel close by. We appreciated his help and would happily rebook at the Homewood Suites.
Generally the housekeeping, front desk and breakfast staff were very pleasant and helpful though language barriers presented some difficulties. However, the pool is not all all as pictured. It is quite small and not very clean. The kitchen was poorly stocked. There were only 3 forks for 4 people and only one dishwasher pod for the whole week. There were not enough mugs or glasses. We didn't get the room we were promised. Staff did bring us a table and 4 chairs but the chairs were filthy as were all the chairs in the breakfast room. It was almost impossible to get the towels we needed and the beds were only changed once even though we had requested that housekeeping did the room. the whole hotel badly needs a refurbishing or at least a good cleaning. The breakfasts however were excellent. At the last day we had a most unpleasant experience trying to get the rate that had been confirmed by Hilton when we reserved. Luckily we had kept the confirmation email....they said they had no record of it. Not a way you want to end your holiday. We will never go back here.…
Hi Jamie I felt it best to write to you directly as to our recent disappointing stay at the Halifax Homewood Suites. We have been coming to Halifax and staying at your hotel for many years and always found it to be among one of the best which is particularly one of the reasons for our disappointing stay. Admittedly Covid has made our routine Halifax visits for work and social events non existent in the past two years. Recently we had a booking at your hotel and were called the day of our stay that our room was not available due to a mechanical issue. This happens and we understood. In fact we were quite happy with the alternate location that you provided us at your sister property. So we made a second reservation for this past Saturday night staying until the following day. We arrived for check in at 3:15 and were told our room was not available as cleaning staff had not been able to get to our room yet. We were unable to get an estimate as to when it would be completed. We were accompanying friends who also had booking issues but were able to get their room after some confusion. We decided to go with them until our room was ready so I asked the front desk to call us there when it was ready. I was told they were cleaning our room, which was 503 shortly and we would be called. Approximately 1 hour later we were called that our room was now ready. This was inconvenient but understandable. We collected the keys in a sleeve and again were told room 503 was ready. Proceeding to that room we found the door open and cleaning staff still inside. I questioned this and was told they were doing VIP clean inspection. She asked us to come in and departed. We unpacked our belongings, used the facilities and my wife began to touch up her hair and makeup for our 530 reservation. I took the opportunity to unload the dishwasher and then went down the hallway to get ice. When I returned my key didn't work so I knocked to get in. We had two keys so I picked up the second one to try it. At that point I realized she had written room 403 on the sleeve. I phoned down to the front desk to clarify the error and no one answered. We realized we had been sent to the wrong room so we packed up our belongings and went down to 403. The keys worked so we appreciated the error. I again called attempted calling the front desk but the phone did not work. The safe also did not work. The internet did not work. We went back to our friends room as we were now late for our reservation. I called the front desk from their room and notified them of the events and failings. She told me she could give me keys to room 503 but I explained we had moved down to to 403 as per the writing on the sleeve. Our friends called and cancelled our reservations as we were now late. Upon returning that evening I again called the front desk in regards to the phone, internet and safe issues. They told me they made a note without solution. We have had such great experiences with your hotel in the past I so we all could believe the level of service has dropped to this level. This is my note I sent directly to the general manager Jamie Bouldec as I preferred not to air my concerns publicly but after over a week he hasn’t even bothered to reply We are done with these guys…
Room was large and clean. Only stayed one night so didn't get to use the in roam kitchen. Great location for visiting Down town Halifax, but its a little difficult to find as it hidden in behind another Hotel. Staff were friendly enough, there seemed to be a lot of new people in training. Would stay here again. Halifax is a great city to visit.
