Very pleasant stay during Junior Hockey Tournament and My Mom's 100 birthday celebration at the Lakeside Bar and Grill. Absolutely no regrets, service was great. Everyone was friendly and helpful. During our stay the Gym was always clean and available when needed. Hotel atmosphere was always upbeat and accommodating.
Nice Location, Close to downtown, very helpful staff. Limited breakfast selection due to Covid. You could go swimming in the lake right behind the hotel. If you like water, there is a small area behind the hotel that you could launch a small sail boat or paddle board also.
We stayed here for a night with our two small kids while work was being done on our house. Malika at front desk was THE BEST! She accomadated our special requests and was so welcoming and friendly. We would stay here again just based on how great she was.
We had a small suite and it was great. Beds were comfortable. The breakfast had lots of options, the room was clean and the arcade and pool was fun. The only thing I'd note is that the pool tiles are extra slippery (so be careful and keep a close eye on children running) and the pool is a bit cool. Great value and close to Halifax.
Overall a good experience, great customer service, however fireplace bulb was burnt out and not working. Soaker tub was described to have jets, which it did not and less than half a roll of toilet paper left in the washroom. All things that can be easily rectified. As said before they had great customer service.
Staff very welcoming when we arrived and lobby very well kept. The positives...great location if shopping, beds were comfortable, breakfast had lots of options, kids loved the retro arcade. The cons...room (we had a suite) was dated - doors didn't close properly, no extra bedding, tv didn't work. The pool is also dated but kids enjoyed it, Front desk staff were friendly and helpful but follow through from other staff was lacking...we needed extra bedding and towels and had to call 3-4 times before they were delivered.
We checked in at 3pm and we're offered a complimentary upgrade to double queen room with lake view. Checking was fast and efficient. Upon entry to the room it was noted that one of the bathroom bulbs was burnt out. Front desk had it replaced within a few minutes.
This property is our hotel of choice in Halifax and we stay there several times a year. While conveniently located to downtown, its location on Chocolate Lake with picnic tables and an outdoor patio for dining gives it a resort feeling. Staff have always been exceptionally helpful, including two weeks ago when my wife was convalescing from surgery and they were only too eager to provide additional items for our suite.
First outstanding feature is the sole rooftop covered handicap parking space at the entrance to the hotel. I am 10 weeks post op from total hip replacement surgery and the short distance from our car to hotel entrance, and the safe walking surface was critical during an evening downpour. The self serve coffee station has a number of choices for the discriminating coffee addict. The rooms are clean and well laid out. The complimentary breakfast choices extend beyond the average hotel fare.
A few issues made our trip a little inconvenient. We haven’t stayed here in for the pandemic so there are a few changes in the quality that we were expecting. The Wi-Fi was slow, our fridge was broke, our security lock on our door he’s not work, even so I was at a meeting at the hotel for two days I was unable to get late check out. Also there was no room service from the restaurant. Each one individually wasn’t a big deal, but everything added up it just made this day a little disappointing. I will probably give it one more try to see if this was a one time thing. I did get two free toothbrushes at the front desk when I asked.
