Spent 5 days at VBL and it was wonderful. Cabin was well equipped with everything you need. Very clean inside and out. Right on the lake, screen in porch and a deck in front of the cabin with a gas BBQ. Fishing right off the lake is good. Free access to canoe and kayak. The owners, Gord and Suzanne are very nice and great hosts, Gord will fillet your catch for you. This is a great place to get away from it all for a few days. We will definitely return to VBL.
We spent 5 days at Vermilion Bay Lodge! The moment we drove onto the property we were greeted by Gord and we were made to feel at home! Our cabin was immaculate, very clean! It was well stocked with everything we needed for our vacation. It did not have a TV/DVD player, but we brought our own! The fishing was very good on Eagle Lake. We were unable to catch bass but plenty of other fish were biting. Our kids really enjoyed the kayaking and spending time in the lodge, looking at all the unique things (also to connect to the internet). Gord and Susanne and Hugh and Bonnie were fabulous! They were so friendly and always willing to help out if we needed something. They were amazing! My husband was spoiled all week because Gord even filleted all our fish for us! We were unsure of what we should do for our holidays this year and I came across Vermilion Bay Lodge by fluke. So I emailed Gord and asked if they had space. He replied that they did have space for us to come out. We are so thankful for our time at VBL. It was beautiful, relaxing and a huge blessing to our family! We hope to return next year again! Our new favorite 'Happy Place"!…
Just spent my second year at Vermilion Bay Lodge fishing with my dad and sisters. Gord and his crew are always very friendly and helpful and do little things like VBL gear giveaways and fish contests to inject a little fun into your stay. The cabins are truly impeccably kept. You can eat off the floors. They are functional and inviting and have lots of woodsy character, as does the entire resort. My dad can’t say enough great things about this place and he is a tough customer! It’s been great hanging out at VBL as a family! Would highly recommend.
I took my two sons here for a fishing trip and we were thoroughly pleased with all aspects of our stay. The cabin was perfect with a great view of the lake. The grounds were well-kept and quiet. Gord (the owner) and his wife were very welcoming and pleasant. We hired a guide that Gord recommended and we caught over sixty Walleye in our first two days! We had a nice boat dedicated to our exclusive use during the week. I highly recommend this lodge. By-the-way...driving up from the USA is no big deal. The drive was scenic and took about four hours from the border crossing.
Jeff and I have been looking for a Canadian fishing lodge trip for several years. We stumbled across the VBL website, and book our stay, sight unseen. If you're familiar with the term "things always look better in the brochure", I started to get a little anxious and apprehensive as we drove up the road to the lodge. We pulled in and STOPPED and took in the amazing view!! VBL is even better than the pics on their website!! The cabins are spotless, cozy and very comfortable. Well stocked with everything you need. (we stayed in #5) Great deck with view of the lake. Big deck with gas grill for cooking and comfy chairs to relax as the evening winds down. Boats are top notch, docks are easy to launch. Gord or John meet you and you catch, to the fish house , filet and freeze immediately! The Sunday fish fry for all guests was fantastic. Day 2, and already felt like friends, not guests. Gord and Susanne are warm, welcoming- simply wonderful hosts. Gord got us on the walleyes, and every day we caught plenty! Bonnie (staff member) was delightful! We found only one problem..... we were only there a week!! We will be making sure to solve THAT issue next year!!…
