Although I have fond memories of visiting this resort in the winter, our recent summer visit was disappointing. Although most of the staff are kind and want to be helpful, it is clear that when you ask them a question they have no clue. They are like deer in headlights (and almost look afraid to answer). It is apparent that despite months of lockdown, they have had no training (even to answer simple questions) and/or no authority to make any decisions (big or small). Most of the time they refer back to 'upper management' as this is the only excuse they have available to explain things like: inconsistent check out/extended checkout policy (the answer changes depending on who you are or what room you are staying in), why there are no towels or umbrellas at the beach, why the water is filled with leeches and 'toe biters' (to the point where the Treetop Trekking staff actually warned us not to swim in there as "they wouldn't"), why the outdoor (and indoor) swimming pools were not filled and not available to guests in JULY (how can a summer resort make a decision like this???) The resort has tons of potential, but sadly much of it is wasted. Personally, I would suggest a few quick tips to help make the experience SO MUCH BETTER for guests: offer food/drink service at the 'lake', offer umbrella rentals at the lake (how can families with young children enjoy themselves while burning in the sun all day???), offer towels at the lake (isn't this what any decent resort would do?), open your swimming pools and have a fair system for access during covid times. The lounge chairs look moldy and old, either clean them, replace them or hide them with cushions! Also, the pictures are quite misleading. The lake equipment (ie. trampoline) was not available, the stand up boards were only for the staff, the kayak zone is cordoned off and so small it doesn't even make sense to take out a kayak. Also, there was no bottled water available in the guest rooms and both of the 2 vending machines on-site were out of order. But all in all, the property is pretty, the restaurants were good and the rooms were nice enough (although I would suggest that unless you like over-stuffed hard pillows then you may want to consider to bring your own from home to help you get a decent night sleep without waking up with a sore neck. All in all, I would not return to this 'resort' for a summer vacation, although it was a nice place to go for a short winter getaway close to Toronto.

A great place to relax! The spa was lovely and the grounds are beautiful - there were a significant number of families but nothing was so invasive. Looking forward to when the pools are able to open up! The crazy horse serves up a delicious quesadilla and the staff was always remarkably kind. Definitely will be back.

Horseshoe Resort - we booked it for three days (two nights) to take advantage of the pool. We called before booking and ensured the pool was opened. Didn't had a chance to enjoy the pool even once, you have to wake up early and line up at the reception area to book an one hour spot out of the 7 spots available for the day. We called the director of hospitality of the resort to inquire of the process and escalate - as it was explained to us, the hotel was fully booked (150 rooms, over 400 people as per Ben/director) and even if one stays for 10 days there is no guarantee that you will see the pool once. We also asked for a late check out on departure day because we had booked the Treetop Trekking from 9:30 to 12:30 that day - that was another big NO, they needed the room at 11 am because as per the director again, "they could not afford to provide free meals or other facilities if they provide late check out". In other terms, they run the place at full capacity with minimum personnel which makes it impossible for anyone to take advantage of the resort facilities. In any other respectable place, a manager would work with you and give you an extra half an hour, suggest something; this Ben told us there is nothing he can do for us and done. We will not return to the resort and will not recommend it to anyone for stay overnight. Horseshoe area is gorgeous, cannot speak enough for the folks at the lake area, the mini golf, the treetop trekking - wonderful service and people. It was a mistake to book the resort and we will not make that mistake again, hope everyone will learn from this. Will try attaching a picture of the hallway in the morning with the people lining up outside the store to book the pool for the day.

Same great resort, keep finding new features to take advantage of! Jeff Foll and his team at Horseshoe are amazing. Great COVID protocols in place. The two bedroom condo we stayed in was amazing and will bring the family at some point as everybody could have their own space. Food was great! If you plan on visiting a few times over the summer, ask about the preferred membership. Great deal! Look forward to coming back a few times over the summer season.

Anniversary Golf stay and play was unfortunately not up to par. We paid for their best accommodation the loft suite and found furniture in room in very poor condition. We had to drape a extra bed sheet over couch to let us sit on it as it was so terribly stained / dirty. The ceiling fan had in the very least a 1/2” of dust on all blades and upper loft windows had cobwebs all over them. Room itself was nice layout, a bit dated but nice view of 9th hole. As for food, with Covid restrictions we had no choice but to order in room service. Not a big deal, however it could have been delivered/ presented with proper plates and cutlery as opposed to plastic utensils and car ours containers. Not an easy task for a plastic knife to cut a 10oz NY sirloin. I typically don’t leave reviews good or bad as we always have fun no matter where we go, however this left us feeling ripped off for what we had paid to stay there.
