Montrose Inn, one of the best examples of 'ante bellum' architecture in Ontario, was built in 1916 by Robert J. Graham, a prominent businessman and former mayor of Belleville and remained in the family until the early 1980's. Montrose Inn invites you to journey back in time. From the first glimpse of this magnificent mansion through the stately gates and stone wall, visitors are welcomed by the well-manicured grounds and inviting verandahs that grace the front of this stately home. Overlooking the beautiful Bay of Quinte, Montrose beckons you to enjoy the tranquility of a bygone era.

This is our 4th time at Montrose Inn and it is always a delight to spend few days at Suzette's and Rogers beautiful Victorian house. The second I get at this place and see her beautiful people I feel so happy! The house is well decorated (vintage Victorian style) warm and the rooms are beautiful and clean. There is even fresh home made chocolate chips cookies in the room , bottles of water and sparkling water. Everything and every detail is thought with care! Suzette and Rogers are very kind and warm hosts and the service is always beyond expectation! Suzette makes the most amazing breakfast and each morning is a beautiful surprise. Each time my husband and I go there we feel welcomed, at home and even a part of their family. That is why we kept going back all these years! If you are looking for a sweet long weekend at Prince Edward County and make your experience unforgettable, I strongly recommend the Montrose Inn. Thanks a again for everything Suzette and Roger. From the moment I arrived, I was utterly charmed by the Montrose Inn. It's everything you want in a historic inn. It's beautiful and majestic, but also welcoming and cozy. I was greeted by Suzette, the owner of the inn, and she was so lovely, welcoming, and accommodating. She made me feel feel pampered, yet also made me feel at home. A perfect blend for a quaint getaway.

The inn was spotless, an impressive feat considering how large it is. It was also outfitted with every comfort you could wish for: bathrobes, high quality toiletries, a bath pillow, a self-serve coffee and tea station, and fabulous breakfast.

For all its historic charm, the inn has got you covered with modern technology as well. The WiFi reception was strong, and the inn even has individual Alexas situated throughout the rooms of the inn.

I am already planning my next visit to the Montrose Inn, and you should too!

The first view of the house is amazing. A massive property across from Lake Ontario with a circular drive and a colonial building that would fit in along the Mississippi.
My wife had chosen the Montrose Inn because the name reminded her os a place in Scotland she used to summer as a child. We weremet at the door by an extreamly bubbly lady who exuded hospitality. Inside didn't dissapoint as the Edwardian funrniture and decore was incredible and done with great taste. The expansive rooms were meant to use and we did. A cosy parlor is provided with those who need to see the TV as there are none in the rooms. The atmosphere calls for a good book! A cheese plate ( with enough for four) was provided and breakfast served in an amazing salon. Food is very much on the "FOODY" side, and really unexpected at a B&B. All thumbs up on this place! It is about 5 minutes to Bellevelle town centre.

For the second year, we enjoyed an amazing afternoon tea on the spacious verandah at the Montrose Inn. We were 5 adults and 2 children, and everyone was simply delighted with the whole magical experience. The food is scrumptious and the service makes you feel special. Spend some time exploring the gorgeous gardens, too.

We recently celebrated our 47th anniversary in Prince Edward County and stayed at the Montrose Inn. The Inn is over 100 years old with unforgettable character, beauty and warmth. You feel like you are in another era! Our bedroom was The Bernice, an elegant room on the second floor complete with all amenities and an overlooking balcony. The weather afforded us the opportunity to sit out on our balcony (furnished with white wicker furniture and beautiful plants) and enjoy the view of the grounds and the lake.
The breakfasts were absolutely delicious including fresh fruit, homemade sausage rolls, Italian frittatas, home made muffins, local bacon and more. We even had homemade chocolate chip cookies waiting for us in our room upon our arrival!
We were treated royally - Suzette was the perfect hostess ensuring that we had everything that we needed and she also provided us with dining suggestions and sites to see while there.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Montrose Inn and hope to be back again!

On October the 9th,2020, my wife & I had the wonderful opportunity to experience the Montrose Inn and spend some time chatting with the hosts, Suzette & Roger.
If you want a relaxing and refreshing time in a old country setting then you have to experience this place for yourself!
Comfortable rooms and an amazing breakfast make this a must for anyone needing to just get away for some quiet time.
The minute you arrive Suzette & Roger make you feel like you've known them forever. We shared the joys and sorrows of raising children and running a household, especially a B&B.
We would definitely return, Lord willing, and recommend their place with a 5 star plus.
Thank you Suzette & Roger for an unforgettable time. We needed it!

My wife Karla and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with a 3 night stay at The Montrose Inn. The grounds are lovely. The room was a joy to stay in with it's 4 post bed, massage tub for two and the direct access to a grand 2nd story balcony, truly elegant and large, with a seating area, including a chase lounge. We spent a lot of time out there when we weren't enjoying the room. Each mornings multi course breakfasts were varied, delicious and perfectly portioned. We booked their Sunday afternoon tea in our stay which exceeded my expectations and ranked as the best I've had, including those I've enjoyed in London England. Sounds pretty good? Well it was and that's not the best of it. Our hosts Suzette and Roger were fantastic, always attentive, down to earth, and genuinely made us feel welcomed and at home. My wife is now making lemon/blueberry whoopi pies at home much to my delight, just one of the delicacies from the afternoon tea. Karla and I really appreciated the shared receipe. We will definitely be visiting again and highly recommend staying at this wonderful Victorian Style Inn.

We have just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at the Montrose Inn. We were greeted warmly by the owner Suzette and were always made to feel very welcome by her, Roger, Sabina and other staff members.
We looked forward each day to breakfast with its fresh fruit, varied main course and great presentation. And the four course Sunday afternoon tea was delicious.
We particularly enjoyed the old world charm of the house and its eclectic furnishings. We took advantage of our semi-private balcony, sitting out and gazing at the lake and the large expanse of the front yard.
It is ideally located to explore Belleville, Quinte West and Prince Edward County. We found lots to do nearby.
We will definitely be going back!

My Mum, Dad, husband and I had a wonderful two night stay at the Montrose Inn. Suzette and Roger are incredible hosts who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. We all enjoyed spending time on the balcony overlooking the beautiful garden and were very impressed with breakfast on both mornings. I couldn’t recommend the Inn highly enough. We’ll definitely be back!

Hello, just wondering where the best nearby dining is located. Anything within walking distance?
Answer from Suzette Mc
Belleville, Canada
Good morning Kathleen, There are no restaurants within walking distance of the Inn; we are equidistant from Belleville & Trenton, about 10 minutes to each, where there are a lot of restaurants, both chain and independent. Hope this helps, Suzette & Roger, Innkeepers
