Deirdre is an absolutely wonderful host and her place, the Yellow Door Bed and Breakfast, is warm and inviting. Our family of 6 stayed there for one night as a stop on the Great Niagara Circle Bicycle Route. After a long tiring day of biking, Deirdre invited us in and gave us mugs of hot cider, pecan tarts, and friendly conversation. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and warm and the breakfast was delicious and filling. I would highly recommend a stay here. I can't say enough how thoughtful Deirdre is, from drinks in the mini fridge in the rooms, to a place to lock up bikes, and so much more. The location is perfect for the cycle route and Crystal Beach is a quaint community. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Our stay in the County Cavan room was very comfortable, and Deirdre was an excellent hostess who bent over backward to be sure we and her other guests were comfortable, including provision of extra beverages, energy bars, etc. Her Irish heritage is also displayed for all to enjoy. We enjoyed our stay at the Yellow Door as well as the surrounding area and bike trail to Port Colburn. Crystal Beach seems to be enjoying a bit of a rebirth, with considerable building in the area as well as promise of some new restaurants. As mentioned above, The adjacent village of Ridgeway is quite nice and offers good dining and other services.
Although we only spent one night, our stay at the Yellow Door Bed & Breakfast was very nice. Our host, Deirdre, was very welcoming. We were made to feel right at home. Our our room was clean and comfortable. Deirdre thought of everything we might need, even had a small fridge in our room with some sodas and water. Breakfast was delicious and prepared us for our busy day at the canal. Deirdre was thoughtful to ask about any dietary need/restrictions. Should we find ourselves back in the area, we would definitely stay at Yellow Door Bed & Breakfast again.
We stayed in the County Cavan room while in town for a family wedding. Deirdre was most welcoming and accommodating. Her home is very well equipped, with beautiful and interesting decor that trends towards an Irish theme and many thoughtful touches throughout. The Yellow Door B&B is situated in a quiet location that allows for an undisturbed night's sleep. Our bed was very comfortable. Breakfasts were a creative, tasty and nourishing start to our days. In general, Yellow Door exceeded our expectations!
What a wonderful stay at the Yellow Door BnB. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel very welcome by our wonderful host Deirdre. The accommodation was excellent and the breakfast was delicious. Located ideally about a 15 min walk from the beach, with many delicious options to dine out on. Bonus was all the live music going on as well. All in all a nice reset over the weekend with the benefit of a good swim in the beautiful Crystal Beach. Thank you Deirdre!
A winner in every way! We loved spending time with Deirdre at the Yellow Door B & B. Deirdre is a gem and a superb host! Thanks for your hospitality, thoughtfulness and great stories. Breakfasts were amazing, the location is perfect and the Cavan room was comfortable and spacious. It was also such a relief to have a safe place to store our bikes in. Deirdre you really think of everything ! We came as guests & left as friends. We can’t wait to come back.
My friend and I stayed in the County Cavan room as part of a bike ride around the Niagara region. It was perfect for us! The bed was comfy, the room was air conditioned, it was very quiet, and Deirdre is such a wonderful host! We were immediately made to feel welcomed. Greeted by apple cider upon arrival! And it’s within walking distance to all of the downtown shops and restaurants and the beach, so we left our bikes in the safe bike shed. We liked looking at all the lovely houses in the neighbourhood. Breakfast was great and filling and we got a couple of snacks for our ride the next day! We really enjoyed staying here. Many thanks to Deirdre!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Yellow Door and Deirdre was the perfect host. We stayed here while cycling from Niagara on the Lake to Crystal Beach, Welland and back to Niagara on the Lake. Check in was a breeze. Our room was very clean and quiet and the bed was comfy (and we are fussy bed people!). We enjoyed the touch of Ireland throughout the B&B and Deirdre's stories of Ireland. Deirdre really goes out of her way to accommodate the needs of cyclists, from a secure bike lock up to an early morning breakfast before we hit the trail. She even sent us off with a snack and drink for our day on the trail. We would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves in the Crystal Beach area.
Lovely place to stay, especially if you’re on bike! Deirdre is a great host and very accommodating. She cooks up a delicious breakfast too! Having a little frig with cold water and complimentary soda in the room was a nice bonus. Highly recommend!
Two of us stayed at Yellow Door for one night during our two day bike trip along Welland Canal, Friendship trail and Niagara Parkway. The stay ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! The property was excellently maintained. We stayed at a room with shared bathroom which was spotlessly clean. There was also a shed to keep our bikes. We really loved the breakfast which was very tasty, filling (for us it was egg croissant sandwich, fruit, granola parfait, orange juice, Irish tea/coffee etc!) and gave us lots of energy to start cycling for the day. The room itself was really comfortable as well. We were really exhausted from a day of cycling when we arrived at the place, but were very refreshed in the morning to go on another day of riding. Lastly, everyone already mentions in their reviews, but Deirdre is just an excellent host! Our only regret was that we didn't stay there longer to spend more time at the B&B itself. We will be sure to come back again!…
