We managed to get a room at Yellow Door for a last minute bike trip to Niagara the other weekend. We found this place off of the cycle stay Niagara site, which is a wonderful network of BnBs on the Niagara / Welland Loop.
The booking process was painless and very quick. Deirdre is exceptionally helpful and accommodating, and any dumb questions we had were always cheerfully answered over the phone.
Yellow Door was the highlight of our trip! The place is beautiful, very close to the bike trail, but also to restaurants and the beach. The room was large, air conditioned, and the bed was super comfortable. As a host, Deirdre rolled out all the stops, breakfast in the morning was a fantastic fuelling for our ride.
For dog lovers, Deirdre’s pooch Milo is an absolute gem! A lovely, sweet rescue dog that looks like a cheetah! We had so much joy playing with him, and can’t wait to see him again!
For those that may not be comfortable with dogs, don’t worry. Deirdre manages his access to shared areas; he’s never in the rooms, which are completely free of dog hair (for those with allergies).
We can’t wait to come back, and hope others will come to enjoy this gem on the Niagara trail!

Thank you so much Katie for your very kind review. Cyclists are particularly welcome at the Yellow Door, and we have hosted many who have come to us through Niagara Cycle and Stay. I’m so pleased that you enjoyed your stay, and your breakfast to fuel your day’s ride. Milo, our Catahoula Leopard, does indeed look somewhat like a cheetah, but much friendlier. He always enjoys meeting new guests, but is never allowed in guest rooms or the dining room. Thank you again for leaving a wonderful review, and Milo and I look forward to welcoming you again through the Yellow Door.

My mom, sister, and I stayed at the Yellow Door Bed and Breakfast for a two-night staycation. It is so much more than your typical B&B. What I must mention first is that Deirdre is an exceptional host. Her warmth, friendliness, and enthusiasm make you feel like you are truly valued guests inside her home, rather than at an establishment. The atmosphere is always open and inviting, no matter the length of your stay. Deirdre is extremely accommodating, going above and beyond to ensure her guests are comfortable. She remembered little details about our preferences and was understanding of my dietary restrictions, both of which are very much appreciated. The daily breakfast was always delicious. Her work ethic and determination did not go unnoticed.

We stayed in the County Cavan room, which is quite spacious and has a homey feel to it after a busy day out. The décor fits the theme very well and brings a smile to your face. In fact, the entire house is personalized with details and history that add more depth and meaning to your stay. Everything is clean, well-kept, and the COVID rules are taken seriously to ensure every visitor’s safety. Be sure to check out the gazebo and beautiful garden! I must also add that Milo is an adorable dog.

Next, the location is definitely a walkable distance to the beach. However, if you are bringing a lot of items, I would recommend driving there – Deirdre kindly provides beach passes. There are also many local restaurants to choose from and unique shops to visit, again, all within walking distance. Whatever your preferences and interests, the Yellow Door is conveniently located to meet them while still being in a calm, quiet part of the neighbourhood.

Overall, this visit has exceeded my expectations and has set a new standard for B&Bs. I would certainly recommend staying here as you explore all Crystal Beach has to offer. I hope to book here again sometime in the future. It is key to know that the Yellow Door Bed and Breakfast is not just a place you stay at in Crystal Beach; it is part of the Crystal Beach experience.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your wonderful detailed review. It is positive experiences such as yours at the Yellow Door that make the daily effort to please our guests so worthwhile. Breakfast is an important part of every stay, and ensuring that our guests’ preferences and/or dietary restrictions are met (and hopefully exceeded) is an important part of our service. The Yellow Door is not only a Bed and Breakfast, but our own home, and the details and atmosphere that you mentioned reflect our heritage and travels. Even the Gazebo and gardens offer amenities that we ourselves enjoy. Safety during these unusual times is of the utmost importance, and thank you for appreciating our efforts in that regard. Crystal Beach itself continues to grow and evolve, and our award-winning Bay Beach is now only one of many ways to spend your leisure hours. We look forward to your return to the Yellow Door, whenever that occasion may arise.

We visited the Crystal Beach in August and enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Yellow Door Bed and Breakfast!
The owner is very welcoming and caring! The place is very clean and spacious. Breakfast was very tasty and was made and served with love!
The B&B is in a very quiet area, but in walking distance to the amazing Bay Beach and the main strip with all restaurants.
We will certainly come back!
Deirdre, thank you for your hospitality!

My husband and I recently went on a big trip around the Greater Niagara Circle Route. On our second night, we stayed at the Yellow Door with Deirdre. Deirdre is like the cool aunt you never knew was missing in your life! She knew we were travelling for our wedding anniversary, so when we arrived there was fun confetti and a chocolate cake waiting for us in our room. She is so friendly and thoughtful, it's extremely obvious why she has so many repeat customers. Our room (Paws and Feathers) was extremely comfortable and cozy, and the bathroom was spotless. Deirdre is taking COVID precautions very seriously, so we felt completely safe and secure while staying there.
Deirdre fed us a delicious and filling breakfast in the morning, and then sent us on our way with snacks and drinks. She knows how to take care of her cyclists. :) Watch out - if you stay here, you won't want to leave!
Thank you for taking care of us, Deirdre!
Cheers,
Heather
P.S. When you arrive, make sure you knock strongly - we are timid knockers and the house is pretty big, so Deirdre didn't hear us at first.

Thank you Heather for your fantastic review. I am so pleased that I was able to host your wedding anniversary. Every bride and groom should have chocolate cake. And who doesn’t like confetti for a special occasion. Thank you for mentioning my COVID-19 precautions. In these challenging times, nothing is more important than keeping my guests as safe as possible. Cycling guests are special, and I always send them off with a little extra sustenance for the day’s ride. You are correct that it is a big house. My doorbell is always a good choice, in case I’m at the other end when guests arrive. I hope to be able to welcome you again through the Yellow Door during one of your future trips.

Deidre, our hostess, welcomed us before we even arrived, patiently responding to our questions. She was very accommodating to all our needs. Our bedroom was spacious and very comfortable, and our towels were changed each of the 6 nights that we stayed with her.
It is situated in a very quiet area in town which helped us have a good night sleep.
Breakfasts were varied, very tasty and filling! Deidre made an effort to address out food needs and tastes.
Especially enjoyed were some early morning quiet time in her gazebo in her lovely garden.
I would readily stay here again when in the Niagara region.

A group of 6 of us bikers (bicycles) rented all three rooms in the yellow door. Four of the six of us had been here last time and highly recommended we stay there , it was our first time this year ever to a bed and breakfast . We were pleasantly surprised. The owner Deidra makes you feel welcome from the moment you book on the phone to the personalized welcome sign in your room. The yellow door is just a short ride off the friendship bike trail and in the middle of the beach and so many cool restaurants. In the morning Diedra made the most delicious breakfast with a yogurt parfait to start. Our group had our own space in the enclosed gazebo for cards the night before as well which was perfect. Diedra sent us off after breakfast with granola/protein bars and juice for the road! We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

Thank you for your very kind review. It’s always wonderful to welcome back old friends, and meet new ones as well. I’m so pleased that you enjoyed part of your evening in the gazebo, which now has a string of inside lights circling the ceiling to light your card games (or just your libations while relaxing after a day’s ride! And the new locked wooden shed is a product of our down-time during the pandemic shut-down. I know that cyclists will appreciate it. Thank you again, and I hope that your rides will bring you back to the Yellow Door Bed and Breakfast.

We stayed in the County Cavan room while in town for a family wedding. Deirdre was most welcoming and accommodating. Her home is very well equipped, with beautiful and interesting decor that trends towards an Irish theme and many thoughtful touches throughout.

The Yellow Door B&B is situated in a quiet location that allows for an undisturbed night's sleep. Our bed was very comfortable. Breakfasts were a creative, tasty and nourishing start to our days. In general, Yellow Door exceeded our expectations!

Thank you for your wonderful review. It was a pleasure to be your host while you were enjoying a family wedding. I absolutely agree that a good nights rest is very important. Although I cannot take credit for the quiet neighbourhood, at least I can provide a comfortable bed for my guests. When you are back in Crystal Beach to visit family, please do not hesitate to touch base if you have the time. Thank you again for your very kind review.

This B&B is oozing with charm - every room is unique and very well-appointed. Superbly clean and comfortable rooms, and on a quiet residential street a few minutes from Crystal Beach and restaurants. Deirdre was simply a fab host and really enjoyed her hospitality! We only stayed one night as part of a cycling circuit - wished we could have stayed a few more nights!

Our cyclist guests often only have time to stay overnight, and are then off early the next morning in their two-wheel adventure. But no matter how short or long your stay, we always try our best to accommodate your needs with a comfortable room, relaxing areas both inside and outside our home, and of course a full hot breakfast in the morning. Now that you know how convenient our location is to both the beach, and our local restaurants and other attractions, perhaps we will have the opportunity to welcome you again back through the Yellow Door when your future travel plans permit.

Deirdre is an absolutely wonderful host and her place, the Yellow Door Bed and Breakfast, is warm and inviting. Our family of 6 stayed there for one night as a stop on the Great Niagara Circle Bicycle Route. After a long tiring day of biking, Deirdre invited us in and gave us mugs of hot cider, pecan tarts, and friendly conversation. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and warm and the breakfast was delicious and filling. I would highly recommend a stay here. I can't say enough how thoughtful Deirdre is, from drinks in the mini fridge in the rooms, to a place to lock up bikes, and so much more. The location is perfect for the cycle route and Crystal Beach is a quaint community. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Thank you for your amazing review. It is not every day that I have the wonderful opportunity to host an entire family of six. A full days's cycling can indeed be challenging. Thank you for acknowledging that a glass of warm cider and a tasty treat can provide a much needed welcome to my Bed and Breakfast. Should your cycling or driving plans ever bring you back to this area, I would be more than happy to welcome you again to the Yellow Door Bed and Breakfast.

We enjoyed our 2nd visit to Dierdre’s gracious Yellow Door B & B in Crystal Beach, Ontario. This visit was every bit as relaxing and enjoyable as the first: lovely, welcoming, and comfortable décor [Yes! Comfy beds!], spirited, informed conversation, and, as always, the most delicious of breakfasts! As a long-time gluten-free, pescatarian [fish, no meats], I very much appreciate her unruffled ability to graciously cater to her guest’s individual food requirements and desires – as does my foody, omnivore husband! All accomplished in what appears as an effortless extension of her gracious and welcoming personality.
Her property's location near biking, beaches, and wonderful restaurants [did I mention the spas?] makes this a perfect vacation get-away.
Thank you Dierdre! We’re looking forward to visiting again next year!

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I do indeed try as best I can to cater to my individual guests’ food choices. With breakfast an actual component of every bed and breakfast establishment, all my guests should be able to count on being served a breakfast that is fully up to their expectations. I am grateful that I was able to meet both yours and your husband’s. It was a pleasure seeing you again, and with the warmer weather just a few weeks away now, I look forward to seeing you again in a few short months.
