Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
I was staying here while visiting my daughter. I am a Hilton Honors member and try to stay at an affiliated hotel when I can. The hotel itself is fine- nothing particularly memorable except the staff. The front desk staff are not only very friendly, but they were super helpful and transparent about the fact that 3 tournaments were going to be there when I asked to extend my visit by one night. Because I was staying partly to have a place to work for the day- it was important that I have somewhere reasonable to work. They gave me a room on the first floor, at the end so I’d be away from most of the commotion. It was great. Spacious room, good work space- bed was fine. It’s a bit dated but my room was clean. The breakfast in the a.m. worked for me as I could grab it and go back to work. It was pricey for what you get, but the staff went above and beyond.

Nice hotel but overpriced. I give it 3 stars because of that. Standard Hampton Inn. Nice amenities. Nice dining area. Room was clean. TV system was kludgy...pushing hotel movies - who buys movies anymore? Generally quiet hotel but slamming door as early as 430am. Really people...if you are entering or exiting your room at 430am gently close the door. Thinks of others just not yourself.
I was working with colleagues in the dining area and the front clerk was yelling on the phone at what I presume was a credit card company about credit card authorizations and then promptly started reading out credit card numbers! Very unprofessional. They also asked a lot of probing questions at check-in about our business visit. I think they were trying to be friendly but it came across as an interrogation. This is Guelph, not Washington DC.
Given it was Guelph and an Hampton Inn, I thought the $196 CAD final bill was very high. I stayed here because I had colleagues with me who had chosen it but I wouldn't choose this hotel again on my own.

We stayed at the Hampton inn in Guelph and where very disappointed. We reserved the suite as we had our grandchildren with us and thought since it had a kitchenette we would bring some food. We where totally disappointed since when we arrived in room there where no dishes, glassware cutlery in the room. When I looked room up on internet they said kitchen was stocked, when I asked at front desk they said there never was dishes in the rooms. If they advertise full kitchen it should be. I spoke to head office and all they said was That is to bad. I don’t think Hampton will be my top priority next time.

The rooms have been recently renovated. They were clean and beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was perfect (it really drives me crazy when I stay at a hotel with weak water pressure). The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful. They had some excellent restaurant recommendations.

The hotel is ok. Parking is very limited at the front of the building. The king suite was strangely laid out. You can't sit on the toilet and open or close the bathroom door. They have no restaurant or other services but charged a huge room deposit of 199 dollars. The room was only 145 dollars. This made no sense and when I expressed displeasure at check in and at check out I was offered the explanation that it was "in case of damage". I frankly find it offensive that a property presumes that its guests are going to damage the room. I am still waiting for the funds to release from my cc.

Dear Darrollbelin, Thank you for staying with us, and we do apologise for the inconveniences you experienced at our property. As all hotels, we do hold a deposit on everyone's credit in case of incidentals. Phone calls, Movies, snack shop etc. This is done with every single guest, and is not a reflection of you specifically. In our commitment to uphold a better standard of service, we do hope to serve you once again and give you a better impression of our hotel the next time you visit Guelph.

5 days after checking out the manager called us to say he was billing us extra money because the room REMAINED completely un-rentable. I had my sister who lives local attend hotel w/in 1 hr of his call, the manager and owner refused to allow her to see the room. The following day the manager called me and said “we’re billing you and there’s nothing you can do about it” NEVER stay here. AVOID this hotel!

We were originally booked at the Holiday Inn Express but they had some damage and rebooked us to this hotel. The room itself was very nice except for the tile needing repair by the shower and the shower door not closing properly. The thing that shocked us the most was that we had to pay a $300 deposit plus the room charge of $131. We didn't expect this and weren't told about it prior to arriving. If so we would have looked elsewhere. We have never had to pay a "deposit" at any other hotel we have stayed at. Also, no one is ever at the front desk. The sign consistently says back in 5 minutes. Was hoping when I left this morning I would be able to discuss with someone about the extra charge but no one was there despite hanging around for 10 minutes. Would not stay here again.

Loved the hotel and staff from 2021, Very helpful but not anymore. Can' t blame the staff and managers for having a bad day on this one. Customer service is gone.
In 2001, Me and my wife stayed at the Hampton Inn and suites By Hilton in Guelph. We stayed in the Juccuzzi room on three separate occasions in the year for special occasions. My wife called to book rooms this year to book more rooms for the year and was shocked at how she was treated by staff before booking. She was just asking why the rate had doubled in price and that made the person on the other side of the phone became angry. The next day I called to talk to the manager about how the person made my wife feel and something should be said to him. I asked again why the price was doubled form last year, just to find out and again the manager was getting upset at me asking why. DO NOT ASK PRICE. They get upset.
I told the manager that I was curious why the double in price then asked me if Iwanted to book the rooms and I could tell that he was irate as well and said no. He hung up without saying anything.

Executive summary: Staff made a mistake on booking in and the manager tried to make us pay for their mistake. Even to the point the staff would not provide a bill on check-out before we left the building.
For more detail, please see below:
Booked 2 rooms for a two night stay for 4 adults (parents & their 2 children in their early twenties). On arrival, was told that only one room was available. On requesting two rooms, we were told that there must be a mistake and we would have to share a room, much to our disappointment. The next day, I was informed that the manager wanted to talk to me about why we only took one room. We were obviously confused. He started the conversation "you need to explain to me why you did not take your second room". I explained that no second room was available on check-in and two of his staff worked on trying to resolve the situation. He response being "you need to explain to me why you did not take the second room, you will be charged for the second room". A heated conversation ensued in which he continually tried to stop me mid sentence. On three occasions, I said "I am not happy with your conduct, and please let me speak". I told him that he needs to discuss the matter with his staff and review how the mistake happened rather than passing the fault onto his visitors. I then spoke to the staff member who booked us in and she stated she remembered the conversation. The manager said "we can meet in the middle and pay for one night and we can now have the second room. I stated that we were only staying one more night and due to his conduct, I am not prepared to take on the addition room or pay for anything other than the room we were allocated at check-in.
On checking out, I asked for the bill and was informed that the the printer was broke and the manager would send an email. I requested the manager should send the email before we leave. Was informed that the manager was not present and he would send it on at a later time. The receptionist was informed that we would not leave until the email was sent and details of the bill were confirmed. I asked for the manager's name and was provided a wrong name. Eventually, the manager appeared and when I called the name given by the receptionist, he stated that it was not his name, turned his back on me and walked into his office not to be seen again. After a long conversation with the receptionist in which I explained that she is now complicite in deliberately providing the wrong information. Eventually, we did receive his name and on saying that the family will not leave the premises until the email we was sent and reviewed; we eventually got the bill and confirmed that it was correct.

My family entered into a contract with this hotel for my sons wedding. They did not honour the contract and released rooms two weeks earlier than the contract had defined. They did offer rooms to some wedding guests at 100.00 more a room if they called so initially room availability wasn’t an issue. When we asked to talk to the Manager’s supervisor we were told is was owned by a group and they were not interested in hearing our concerns. Even on the day of the event the rooms were found to be booked wrong. If you are planning an event you don’t need this stress. Book somewhere else.
