This hotel is awesome, the staff is great. The ladies that work the breakfast area are friendly and their service is great. The room was very comfortable and clean, and the pool area was nice. The front desk staff were helpful with any questions we had about the area. We will Definitely will stay here again.

My husband and I and young daughter spent 2 nights at the holiday inn this past weekend for unavoidable travel. Big pros: The hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet and just what we needed. Staff was good. The pool was monitored by signing up for a 1 hour time slot To ensure groups no larger than 5 were using the pool at once which was nice and comforting during Covid times. There was signage everywhere reminding people to distance themselves. Despite the restaurant being closed and no breakfast being included, they did pack grab and go bags with an orange and a muffin. The location of the hotel is near every restaurant, fast food and otherwise you could want for. Slight cons: 3 points... our room didn’t get cleaned during our stay. perhaps because of Covid but I felt we should have at least been offered clean towels considering there were no towels at the pool so we used the same 3 towels for showers and pool use for all 3 days! . Not ideal.
The grab and go bag of food was sort of inedible. I know this is tricky, but at least the fruit could have been fresher. A lot of $ is being saved by The hotel by not providing breakfast yet continuing to charge the same rates, so a bit more effort into the breakfast bags would likely be appreciated by all. These two points just mentioned I can live with, particularly in these trying times. . But The most annoying is the third point....a parking surcharge? Huh? . This hotel is not in an area where real estate would warrant a parking surcharge (such as downtown in limited space, waterfront, etc. ). We were also 1 of maybe 10 cars in a parking lot that could hold at least 250-300 cars. I’m not kidding..there was empty land everywhere. The parking surcharge really rubbed us the wrong way. It wasn’t a lot of $, but it was the principle for us. We felt we were being flexible and understanding by using the same towels for pool and showers, making our own beds and room up, skipping the breakfast and still being willing to pay full daily rates, the very LEAST the hotel could do on their end is forgo the parking surcharge. I’m sure we’re not the only ones who walked away rolling our eyes a bit about the parking charges. Seemed totally out of place for the location of the hotel.
Overall the hotel is clean and comfortable. But the surcharge put us off enough to stay at one of the many other comparable options in the immediate area.

Dear Ams563, Thank you for taking the time to share feedback on your recent stay with us. We are happy we were able to provide you a clean, quiet and comfortable space for you and your family to get away and relax. We are currently offering limit housekeeping service, which means unless you request for your room to be serviced, we will not enter your room. We do have all our amenities available for pick up at the front desk, as well, our guests can call the front desk and we can have it delivered to your guestroom following all social distancing protocols. My sincere apologies if this was not clearly explained to you and your family upon check in. In addition to signing into our pool area and receiving a key from the front desk, you should have also received pool towels during that time. They are available at the desk and should have been included when handing you the key and going over the new regulations of our pool. I can appreciate your comments in regards to the grab n go breakfast that we have been offering. We are in the process of revamping our offerings to include more of a variety of items, which we hope will be much more appealing than our simple current offerings. We have been charging for parking since January 2018. We understand this fee is not ideal for all our guests and have taking ours guests comments and suggestions into consideration when determining the amount of the fee we do currently charge. We certainly wish we had 250 to 300 available spots, but unfortunately we do not. Our parking lot is connected to the parking lot of the neighbouring hotel, which can make it seem that we have a lot more spots available. Thank you for choosing to stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Kingston Central and most of all thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Yours in Hospitality, Sara Cole Guest Services Manager

Stayed here for a weekend getaway. Hotel check in was quick. Hotel room clean but tired. Carpet is clean but very worn. Included breakfast is a bagged breakfast despite the fact that indoor dining is allowed. Covid protocols very well observed. Location was great. All in all very average stay. We felt hotel extremely overpriced for the condition of the property. We paid $299 plus tax per night. They even charge $6/day to park which at that price point per night is offensive. Our major objection during our stay was housekeeping literally pounding on our door at 8:30 am! There should be some communication between the front desk and housekeeping. There’s no need for housekeeping to clean your room before the 11:00 am checkout, especially when we requested our room not be cleaned the day prior. Due to Covid we simply requested fresh towels. Honestly would stay at another property next time we’re in Kingston.

Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to share feedback on your experience. We understand our comments regarding indoor dinning to be allowed. We have opted to keep some attendant served items in addition to the Grab N Go bagged breakfast options during our peak season for a few reasons. If we allowed in door dining as an option in our breakfast bar we would only be able to have 8 people in total at a time due to restrictions. We are in the process of going back to our much loved breakfast options for our guests. As well, we are excited to share that we are gearing up for full renovations this fall. I have also passed on your comments regarding our housekeeping team. We apologize for the inconvenience of being woke up early. Yours in Hospitality, Sara Harrison Guest Services Manager

We've been to this hotel before. It is quite new and very well maintained and clean. Even though it is in the city and quite close to the highway it is very quiet and we get a good sleep. The standard Holiday Inn breakfast is free in the morning and gets you off to a good start.

If you want a place with all the bells and whistles cuz you will spend 24 hours in the hotel, then you won't find it here and i feel sorry for you!
This is our second time here. Staff VERY Friendly and helpful! The rooms are a little dated but i heard renos will happen. Dated does NOT mean dirty. Its clean! Beds are comfy, so are the pillows. Bathroom as everything you need! Little fridge and microwave in the room as well as a Keurig!!! Covid times mean different ways of doing things. Breakfast. What you ask for from the staff of whats on hand is packaged and handed to you including you delicious coffee. Still Hungy? That's ok, go to front desk and get you TO GO Bag. Pretty good. i liked the fact the hotel is taking precautions. The pool: Covid times call for covid measures. IT OPEN! Each room gets an allotted time that you must prebook for. GREAT! Not a complaint from us. we went at our scheduled time and we were the only people there. Clean, bright and some music happening.! Close to downtown. For downtown if going after 530, street parking free if you can find any, otherwise lots are like $6. not a big deal!.
Restaurants, and shops within walking distance including convenience store, shoppers, bulk barn, Canadian tire, dollarama and more!
We will come back, again!

I stayed at the hotel with a friend and we checked in on June 3 and checked out on June 4. As I use a wheelchair, I asked for an accessible room with grab bars beside the toilet and a raised toilet seat. While the room itself was very spacious, we were disappointed to find that there was no raised toilet seat in the bathroom and we called the front desk to ask for one to be brought to our room. It never was provided to us. We were even more disappointed to see that the beds in the room were way too high. My manual wheelchair is pretty standard and the mattress was as high as my armrests. My friend put a cushion on the floor for me to stand on as she helped me get into bed. An accessible bed should be low so a person in a wheelchair can get into it easily without a struggle. We should not have to risk our safety. We noticed that the electrical outlet near the dresser was not working so my friend couldn't charge her phone there.

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing feedback on your experience. We have passed your concerns on to IHG to re-evaluate the furniture required in all Holiday Inn Express' accessible rooms. We want everyone to be able to enjoy their stay and not feel like they have to put their safety at risk. We do not have a raised toilet seat on property as mentioned to you when requested. I will certainly look into the possibility of us buying one to better accommodate all our guests. We appreciate you letting us know in your review about the electrical outlet, so we can investigate and fix. We do hope to welcome you back again in the future. Kindest Regards, Sara Harrison Guest Services Manager

Holiday Inn Express what more can I say. This is a hotel near the motorway network of very high quality, equal from one establishment to another. We can still expect high standards from the chain, which is however not luxurious. The similar breakfast from one establishment to another, contrary to the photos, does not contain any bacon. In terms of cleanliness once again everything is perfect on arrival however after 2 days I asked that they do the room having some small stains on the floor and the bath after 3 days of use no longer being very clean they came and changed the towels without ever washing the bath or the floor, I found this very ordinary for a chain like Holiday Inn. Very good service from the staff at the reception only very very very negative point of this hotel particularly are the elevators which stand out for their legendary slowness. Compare to other hotels in the area, the rooms are more expensive, more than $1000 in my case for 3 nights. Recommended if you want to be well located near the highway and services less than 10 minutes from historic downtown Kingston.

We stay at Holiday Inn Express all the time, all over the country. This was one of the worst we have been to. Badly in need of updating, stains on the carpets and walls. Noisy rooms, especially with the adjoining doors. Had to be moved due to noise in the next room, but really it was because of the extremely thin walls and adjoining door. Why is there no extra toilet paper provided? Why is there not enough staff working to answer the phone when you call down to the front desk? Front desk seems very overwhelmed and confused. Air conditioner can only be turned down to a certain temperature (which wasn’t working properly in our room). Had to call to ask the front desk to provide a means to turn temp down further. Bagged breakfast was ok. Won’t be back.

We have been spoilt by better Holiday Inn Express hotels, such as our previous night’s stay in the Holiday Inn Express in Orleans, This hotel seemed older, had soundproofing problems from corridor and elevator operation noise, We were down the hall from the elevator but could still hear it running. On the plus side, the room was clean and spacious, the beds comfortable , and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The lighting in the bathroom however was very dim. We found it annoying that every stick of furniture in the lobby had been removed, and the free breakfast was still takeout to room only. All supposedly due to covid rules we were informed. Strange how other Holiday Inn Express hotels in the same province are able to have all their comfortable furniture in their lobby and now have table dining for their free breakfast, with more choices, and the necessary staff to serve from behind the buffet stations.

Our room was clean and comfortable. I loved having full sized toiletry bottles rather than the typical tiny ones. The breakfast was good, though the meat products were quite salty. The staff were very friendly and one even offered to give me his parking space as the hotel was very full and there was no handicap parking left. Would definitely return
