Detailed Reviews
We took a trip to Kingston to spend the weekend with my sister and her husband. (August 22, 2020) We wanted a location that provided enough room for the 7 of us, as well as full kitchen and was close to the downtown area. We were very happy with our choice. The hotel was beautifully situated near the waterfront. Perfect for early morning/evening strolls. Or just relaxing by the water. Safety protocols were in place that made the guests feel safe. Masks are mandatory in common areas. Rooms are cleaned after check outs, and will be left for a minimum of 2 hours before the next occupants can check in. This usually means that because standard checkout time is 12noon, the room will only be "ready" for check in by 2:30 or 3pm. The continental breakfast is handled differently because of the safety precautions in place. Guests will choose from the menu and a takeout box will be prepared by the breakfast staff which you will bring back to your room. Given the current circumstances this is understandable. And although it definitely takes away from the usual excellent breakfast experiences that we've had at other Residence Inns, it does not affect our review of the hotel and our stay. Access to the swimming pool is done by reserving a block of time for your family (25mins) after which the staff will sanitize the area for the next family. High recommended!

Recently stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn for 4 days. Excellent location for walking to downtown Kingston. My room was perfect for a longer stay with a well stocked kitchen, very comfortable living area, well equipped bathroom and a very comfortable king size bed. The views out of all the windows felt like I was in a maritime setting! Staying at a hotel during Covid 19 can be can be unsettling but I was notified a week in advance with all the precautions taken and expected on clients, and on arrival, I noted a very clean presence with adequate signage and many sanitizing stations. The staff were all amazing and went over and above to make my stay safe and comfortable. They had to change up their format of their included breakfast, but were still able to provide a very extensive selection of fresh items which can be easily prepared in your room. The warm smiles and friendly conversation of the breakfast attendants was a wonderful way to start my day. The reason for my stay was medical related and this hotel is just a short walk from KGH, and with covid restricting family members, with the friendliness and kindness of the hotel staff, it took away the lonely feeling being away from family! I would definitely recommend this hotel as a very safe lodging and being located on such a beautiful waterfront provides walking paths along the water!

This was our second stay at Residence Inn Kinston Waterfront. The hotel is clean and spacious. We had a corner harbour-view room and the views of Lake Ontario were stunning!
The included breakfast is great with many different food options and buffet style. The all day coffee bar was a lovely added feature! We have not yet used other amenities but there is an indoor pool and fitness area.
We stay here for the location as well, it is a 2 minute walk to downtown Kinston restaurants and bars. When we have stayed in the summer the waterfront location is beautiful!
I'm sure we will be back!

We recently stayed for the first time at the Residence Inn by Marriott Kingston Water’s Edge Kingston, and it was below the standard I have received in the past for Marriott service. Perhaps it so soon following the pandemic to expect service levels to be what they were, however most of the interactions I had with the staff were not the best, they were not rude but definitely not friendly or helpful whatsoever.
Before arriving, knowing that this was a pet friendly hotel I requested a pet free room identifying that I have bad allergies, which is what I have always done when staying at a Marriott property. The response was a no “we cannot guarantee that any of our rooms haven't had pets in them.” There was no discussion or even reassurance that they would ensure the room was free of any pet hair or even offer to make sure there was no pet in the room immediately preceding my arrival. I don’t think I would have booked at this location knowing that ALL rooms were open to pets and they would not consider a health accommodation room for someone that can’t be around pets.
I wanted to see if I could get some information about what extra steps are being taken for cleaning. I was referred to the website – which has a generic Marriott statement. In the hotel I can see that there are hand sanitizer stations around the entire hotel but that was it. I did not see anyone once during my entire stay clean anything. No one seem to have specific cleaning information about this specific hotel. Disappointing.
As a gold member, I can request an upgrade to the next room when checking in. When I arrived and inquired the answer a straight “no”. She did not even look or check my reservation to see what room I was in. When I was finished checking in (so she could see my member status and room type) I asked again and was told “nothing is available”. No effort whatsoever and the hotel was not sold out and then next level rooms were still available on the website for booking and appeared to be available, so they just would not allow me to upgrade.
Later that evening when making the pull out bed the extra bedding that we took out had a blanket covered in hair. When I called down to the front tell them and request a new one the response was “ew that’s not good”. No apology, no offer to replace it. I had to ask for a new blanket and then I was told to “come down and grab it at the front”. At 11pm at night I had to go down to the front desk, no one was there, and the blanket was just left on the countertop.
All of these things, coupled with the horrendous parking and that was under construction (there was a garden hose that was around my car in the underground (perhaps they should have blocked those spots!) I don’t think I would recommend this hotel or choose to stay here again if I came back. Overall, mediocre stay that was a little disappointing.

We reserved the king suite overlooking the Wolfe Island. The view was magnificent.
The room had a kitchen, pull out couch and a king bed. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, even the pull out. However the pull out wasn’t made ahead, we had to make it. There was a bug on the white sheets which was super visible, but wasn’t an issue for us, it was one little bug. I usually don’t complain about the electronic features of the room, but this day in age, I would’ve expected a smart TV, And usb plugs in the sockets.
The bathroom was clean, however the walk in shower is oddly designed. The faucet is in the shower rather than the outter side, so you can’t start it to warm up without getting wet! We didn’t receive the extra towels, nor shampoo and conditioners requested. While there were shower supply dispensers in the shower, there wasn’t enough for our stay.
We stayed two nights, and didn’t put the “do not disturb sign”, yet our room didn’t get cleaned nor restocked.
Breakfast was advertised as full hot, yet only had oatmeal/cereal, oranges or green bananas, hard boiled eggs or yogurt, juice, coffee and tea as well. This was disappointing!
Also we could only book the gym and pool once, and were allowed only 25 minutes..per room! We couldn’t book the two days as the Saturday arrivers had priority which wasn’t fair in my opinion. We had to wait until after checkin, but by then everything was booked, except for a time after our checkout!
Overall, even at a significant discount price, it wasn’t worth the 90$/night, good thing I hadn’t paid the $200 ish at full price. Also, they charge 25$/day for parking!!

We stayed at the Residence Inn twice over the winter. Both times, we asked for a water view and were provided with one at no extra charge, as it wasn't very busy due to Covid. During our first stay, the TV didn't work and while they were willing to replace the television set, we asked to change rooms and were provided with a lake view, instead of a harbour view. The staff was very helpful and courteous during our stays. The rooms were modern and clean, with plenty of room for us to move around. The kitchen was very handy and having a living space made it feel more like home. Due to its location right on Lake Ontario, we enjoyed several walks along the waterfront, which is beautiful, even in winter. The Residence Inn is also conveniently located in walking distance to KGH and the Cancer Center. The only downside is the $25 parking fee which, for us, was outweighed by all of the positives. I highly recommend this hotel!

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years when visiting Kingston, and it never disappoints. The location is excellent, just a few blocks from the main streets and surrounded by lots of restaurants. I was particularly impressed this visit with how careful the whole staff was with keeping the hotel clean and safe. There are hand sanitizer stations everywhere, limits on the number of people in elevators, take out breakfast boxes instead of the usual buffet, and a number of other changes the hotel has had to make to adapt to the current environment. It made me feel very comfortable travelling during this uncertain time, and I appreciate how hard all of the staff was working to make this happen.

Stayed for 4 days in a studio suite with a lake view. Fantastic location, good price and great people on staff. Most everyone else here has hit the high points So, assuming that someone from Marriott reads this:
When you go to breakfast,(which was good and generous), you are directed to what would in normal times be a back hallway and that is where you line up. The walls have been painted but the floor is disgusting. Other people in line remarked about it as well. It is that nondescript gray paint with stains and sticky parts all over it. This is a MAJOR oversight for an organization as good as Marriott. For $500 and a few hours in the afternoon, when it is not in use, they could have it tiled and looking like a Marriott hallway that you want your patrons to experience as part of their meal service. Get that done!
Once you get to the meal service, a table staffed by several women providing boxed breakfasts, the standards go back up. Wonderful, friendly and incredibly helpful staff who even suggest things that you forgot.
Well worth a stay.

+1
This property excels at customer service, cleanliness and location.
It starts with the front desk staff who are very friendly and welcoming. The common areas are well maintained and clean. The elevators are quick and easily accessible. Housekeeping staff are very friendly and courteous.
The room was large and well laid out with great water views as it was a corner room on the 8th floor. Lots of closet and drawer space for longer staying guests as well as a full kitchen, small dining table, work desk, living room with couch and ottoman, bedroom with reading chair & ottoman and bathroom with toilet, shower/tub separated from sink/vanity by a door. The only negative about the room was the vanity counter that was too deep for the small sink. It's difficult for shorter people to reach (ie. Brushing teeth). It would also be helpful to have a separate shaving/makeup mirror.
The breakfast buffet was excellent with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, selection of cereals, fruit, oatmeal, yoghurt etc. The excellent staff were constantly making sure everything was stocked and replenished as needed. They also disinfected tables between guests.
The location is also ideal for walking to many local attractions and restaurants.
I highly recommend this property if you're in the Kingston area. You won't be disappointed. I look forward to visiting again.

We booked a two-bedroom river view suite and it was just lovely! The kitchenette was perfect for snacks and warming up the complimentary and safely-distributed take-away breakfast. We enjoyed the opportunity to book the pool and hot tub for 25 mins and the location was perfect to get out for a waterfront walk and to go downtown. We will definitely be back while our son continues his studies at RMC

Sorry i have no idea, you will need to call to check with them
No, there is no restaurant on site. The breakfast buffet is NOT in a restaurant. You will find a multitude of wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Reservations are always a good idea in Kingston. Enjoy!
I believe they would have USB ports, new looking t.v., but the reception was very poor.
Sorry, i didn't use the pool. but I did see it and it looked warm, lots of people enjoying it in very cold weather.
