Upon arriving midday Saturday, we noticed an elderly man sitting on a lawn chair outside the front door of the hotel. He had been looking through the garbage can near the entrance, which was not the most welcoming site after a lengthy drive. Our room was okay but the hotel and room are a bit 'tired'. There were some stains on one set of bed sheets which we tried to overlook. The breakfast area was extremely busy, and all of the tables were full. We ended up grabbing breakfast to go and eating in our room.

Good old fashioned comfort in a traveler’s inn. On a road trip back to Toronto and had the most comfortable bed, and soft linen in 2 months on the road/ if you feeling weary - pull off the Highway and stay here. Breakfast is a packed meal that makes leaving quick and convenient - easy off the journey and back on again refreshed.

The room smelled very strongly of stale cigarette smoke (to the point that items left out in the room for our 2 nights still stank when we got home). Nice to have an opening patio door, but it opened right onto the parking lot with a sidewalk for people to walk right by your door. The mattress on the pull out couch was paper thin and very uncomfortable for my teen sleeping on it. You can do a LOT better for a similar price in the area. The breakfast was a saving grace (MYO waffle station!), But the coffee wasn't tasty.

This hotel while not flash was more than adequate for a low cost hotel. The room was a good size but it was fairly dark. The bed was comfortable and there was a comfy couch to sit on. The bathroom was a bit dark and dingy, but very clean. The toilet was the smallest and lowest we have ever seen, remenisant of what you might expect in a kindergarten. Breakfast was adequate. From desk staff needed to learn how to smile. Several family style eating places within walking distance.

Terrible hotel. Very dated and dirty!. We booked as a group and the staff were extremely rude.staff spied on our group from video cameras and would harass everyone in the hallways. Breakfast was mediocre. Don’t waste your money.

We were pleased with our accommodation at the Comfort Inn 401. The beds were comfy, we heard no traffic noise, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The hot breakfast buffet was ample, Dwayne at the from desk was downright charming, and when we had trouble figuring out the TV, a maintenance person arrived within minutes and fixed it. We were within easy walking distance to Boston Pizza , and Swiss Chalet as well as a shopping mall. Our only complaint was the same as we find at all hotels- the heating/cooling system- finicky, and a bit noisy. Hard to keep a constant suitable temperature. That said, we would definitely return to this hotel

Hockey Mom wrote a review Nov 2022

I was a hockey parent who stayed at this hotel on the weekend of November 10-12th. To start I gave the hotel a 2 star simply because I thought the two shining stars of the staff are the young lady who runs the breakfast bar (made special eggs for a hockey player who was diary free) and the front desk at check in who was able to explain to me why this hotel charged my credit card 24 hours prior to my arrival. They are the only redeeming qualities of this “comfort” inn. When we arrived on Thursday we were told that the kids could not play mini sticks in the halls but would be ok for them to play in rooms. By Saturday that rule had changed and they were screamed at and told that they were only allowed to play in rooms on the first floor. All hockey families were on the second floor. Poor planning on the facility forsure. On Saturday during the day, the hockey players went outside to play football. While they were outside these 11 year old kids were approached by a staff member and told that they couldn’t play outside and if they didn’t leave they would have the police called on them. At no point did this staff member ask to speak to a parent. Just threatened the police. On Saturday night a team had booked the breakfast bar area for the evening. About an hour into the booking the front desk staff, Angus, stormed into the room and told everyone he was shutting it down because of our “f*%#ing kids who wouldn’t listen”. To be clear, at no point prior to this had we been approached about our kids not listening or causing trouble. We were each taking turns checking on them. They indicated to us that they had tried to play mini sticks in the rooms and were told to stop. They tried to play mini sticks in common areas and were told to stop. At the end of the day they are kids. If there was an issue with these kids, the expectation would be that the parents of said children were notified and made aware so they could fix the situation. Instead these “adults” threatened children with being kicked out and that they would have the cops called on them. Who does that? For a hotel who aligns with a local KIDS hockey tournament (to be clear we were given a list of hotels that we HAD to book with) they didn’t seem to be happy to have families and young children there. I would not recommend this hotel for any sports team, family or anyone who believes in any decent level of customer service and respect.

This is your typical no-frills 3-star hotel. Good value. Rooms were clean, breakfast included and staff were incredibly professional. I’d stay here again. Groups of teams were staying the weekend of Nov 11/12 (hockey, track). I witnessed guests (kids and parents) being rude and abusive to staff. Staff handled situations professionally. Shame on the clueless parents defending their kids playing mini-sticks in the hallway at 11:30 PM. Hotel not to blame and be wary of bad reviews this particular weekend. I heard a parent threatening to leave 1-star reviews because staff asked their kids to play in their rooms, and not the hallway.

We arrived late in the evening and were very tired from the drive. Our initial room had a "stale" odour to it so we immediately talked to the young woman at front desk. She offered to upgrade us to another room down the hall and after checking it out we relocated. The hot/cold breakfast in the morning was most enjoyable providing standard fare for Comfort Inns. The hotel was conveniently located just off Hwy 401 with easy access.

I want to commend one particular employee at this Comfort Inn, so helpful that we gave her a gratuity on the way out, and that is Trish. I messed up when I made my first reservation, and she was able to change it cheerfully when I called in desperation. She was there on a twelve hour shift most days and smiling every time we went in or out. If I were her boss, I would definitely do what I had to in order to keep her. Thanks Trish!
