Front desk staff were great. Only issue was that upon arrival to the room is upon seeing a note in with in regards to housekeeping is that you would have to request housekeeping service and to have the room refreshed with bedding towels and coffee for a extra charge of approximately 25 dollars canadian ontop of your bill per day witch guests should not have to put in a request for. Few other things I noticed was with the room on this stay with hojo was bath room floor was a little sticky was like like someone spilled pop on the floor and when it drys other 2 things was that the sheets on 1 bed did not looked like it was changed at all due to a stain on the sheet also changed my socks and put 1 bare on the carpet for a few seconds to step on someone's else's toe nail clipping. I stayed here a few years ago that stay was perfect with no issues till this stay I am not 1 to to complain but I was a bit disappointed with Howard johnson by the falls on this trip

The location of this hotel is perfect and the beds are comfortable. Howere the first Room they gave us smelled so badly of Urine we could not stay in it. They gave us another room which also smelled but not nearly as bad. The towels were so scratchy it was like drying yourself with sandpaper. The bathrooms are equipped with just 1 bar of soap, small shampoo and small lotion. If you are not fussy about your room and want to be close to the action this is probably fine. Other than the smell the hotel seemed clean.

Disgusting- the booking stated parking was available, and lead you to believe included in the cost (as it is with many other hotels), and didn’t list cost of parking anywhere. Parking is more expensive (double) than other lots, even 5 minutes walk away!!!! Staff was SO RUDE when I tried to point out the fact I thought I had already paid for the parking- online, I booked and mentioned parking in the booking. During check in is when the charge magically appeared. The staff talked over me (two staff members) one of which didn’t even look me in the face, and the second who just kept repeating “oh well”… On top of that, there is an added $1 charge for no reason on my card that I intend to dispute- what is this extra dollar for? Stuffing your pockets and stealing? It’s not the amount but the principle.

When we got to the room, the sheets stank and the pillows on one bed were
stained/dirty!

The pools which are advertised are also closed at 10? Also not on the site in advance! We wouldn’t have booked a hotel with pools and NO LIFEGUARDS regardless, that CLOSES AT 10?

Another thing, check out is at 11am, but check in is only 4pm? This hotel staff is so slow that you really need 5 hours to clean and reset for the next person (except all you do is make the beds, not change sheets)? Absolutely disgusting.

We are very sorry to hear that you first stay in a hotel was not to your satisfaction and for that we do apologize for not allowing you a more enjoyable visit. Parking charges are clearly noted on all websites as well as the property website and we do apologize if perhaps you overlooked this fact. With regards to the additional charge of $1 we are unclear as to this charge as it was not performed on our end but perhaps it may be a service charge from your financial institution and unfortunately we have no control over that. Our pool hours are very much in line with most other hotel properties as well most hotel pools do not have lifeguards available. Most all hotels offer a very similar check in and check out time as this is standard within the industry and we very sorry that the time it takes to clean the entire hotel when full occupancy was not to your satisfaction. All this information is clearly posted on our property direct website under policies and information. Again we do apologize that your first visit to hotel was not to your satisfaction and do wish you the best of luck on your future lodging needs.

We arrived at the hotel and were greeted pleasantly and also pleasantly told that there was a $15-per-night charge for parking. We accept that this was in the small print of the website but it wasn't enough for us to be aware before we arrived.

The charge would have been acceptable except that it was a challenge to find parking at any time of the day and we ended up reluctant to use our own car.

The room was comfortable and clean, with a microwave, fridge, hair dryer, and working A/C.

At check-in, we were advised that housekeeping would not be visiting every day, but could, if we wanted them to, check in on the third day. Any more than that would cost $25 per day.

Breakfast was also not included.

There is no doubt that the COVID issue has taught the hospitality industry that it is acceptable to offer the customers less for more money.

The internet connection upon which we as a family heavily rely was poor and intermittent. The only thing that we could count on was that several times a day it would go out for sometimes more than an hour. We questioned the front desk and were repeatedly told that they were "working on it".

As mention earlier, the room was comfortable, the staff were also pleasant and the hotel location was central and convenient, but the sketchy internet alone would be reason enough to look elsewhere as it left us frustrated on a regular basis.

First of all the positives..staff were very good, location is excellent, lots of restaurants on close vicinity.
We have been to this hotel in the past and never had any issues.
However, this time around we were taken aback!! The hotel is deteriorating!
Area around the elevator near the room on ground floor had paint peeling and real bad shape, felt like we were in some cheap motel.
The bed was squeaking everytime we moved, and right above headboard wallpaper was peeling. The room darkening curtains were filthy and short, hence light came into the room throughout the night!
When we checked in first thing we noticed was every towel in the bathroom had hair on it. We immediately called the front desk, they sent someone up, a young Indian guy, he took them all away and brought us new towels, and Lord behold! They also had hair on them, photos attached. We wrote a review earlier and hotel responded saying it was not brought to their attention and they, instead of accepting, or showing any remorse, lied, saying it wasn't true!!! Then there was the "newly renovated" bathtub, which is tub changed to walk in shower..it has a shower head, no normal faucette down, where one can open and test water before turning showerhead on, so you stand in there, open the tap, and get a shock of your life, in our case for three mins cold water before we could adjust it...again they responded by saying its a 5ft space and we could leave the water on until its set to right temperature!
We are definitely not returning back to this hotel!
Forgot to mention, found a pill on the carpet, the staff who came for towel removed it very professionally...great staff, questionable owner/management!!

As for the shower setups, we have a variety of configurations across our rooms. Some rooms feature a bath and shower combination, while others have standalone shower setups. Typically, our king rooms are equipped with the shower setup, while most of the standard queen rooms come with the bath and shower combination. We encourage guests to communicate their preferences to our staff, who will be happy to assist in reserving a room that best suits your needs. We also want to mention that the larger 5-foot showers allow guests to turn on the water and wait for it to reach a comfortable temperature before stepping in. This design has been widely favored by our valued guests, as it provides ample room to adjust the temperature without coming into contact with the water until it’s satisfactory. While we don’t have notes on your reservation regarding any issues, we sincerely apologize for the oversight with housekeeping. We stayed at HowardJohnson Plaza for 3nts on the Niagara Falls leg of our vacation. Hotel was clean & tidy but one lift was very slow & carpets need replacing as they are threadbare especially in corridors. We were charged almost $40 for early check in at 12noon so wasn't happy at that if rooms are ready just let early arrivals like us check in Our train arrived from Toronto at 10-45am. Very handy for main tourist spot Clifton Hill & plenty of eateries around the hotel. Overall room was clean but no housekeeping unless you stay more than 2 days & then it's only by request. You can get extra towels etc if you ask at the front desk but you have to be at your room to receive them. Wi fi was excellent at all times which was great and staff were very friendly & helpful storing our bags on checkout so thanks to them for that. Overall the rooms are large & clean they have been renovated to a degree but carpets do need replacing & the location is very good & staff are friendly & helpful.

Only good thing about this hotel is that its on the main strip. But $20 charge every night for parking. No breakfast included. No housekeeping services, if you stay more than 3 days you get it.. but aparently YOU have to call early in morning and let them know or else they dont clean your room. Our room was also very humid and the AC didnt work. The remote on tv didnt work either. The Front desk are not very helpful. We also got a denny's voucher but we decided we werent going to use and requested a refund of $10 and they said NO.. its $10 people!! Your already taking so much $. We wont be staying here ever!

There was blood on the when we arrived in our room. So it was clear that they did not change the sheets prior to our arrival. We called housekeeping, and some man came to the door and would not come in our room, made us strip the bed and hand him the sheets. When we also arrived, the room smelled damp and musty.

The location is great walking distance from Clifton hill which is where all the attractions are. There is always alot of families with children which is nice. The hotel is nice and clean has sanitizer for you to use on the main floor, my only reason why I give 4 stars is because they will only clean the rooms change sheets and remove garbage every 3rd day from your stay and if you have children well that's not enough. The internet is not unlimited they only give you 5mp per day which I thought would have been unlimited like other places have. I have stayed at this hotel plenty of times before covid years ago because it's not far from everything and that's why I went there again this time. When I arrived this time they told me the changed to green now and this is why they only clean every 3rd day it was disappointing to hear, most of the staff are great especially Kevin always willing to help. Overall it's a nice place
